▓▒░ OFFICIAL BLURB ░▒▓
Press Release: Berlin, September 25, 2013 -- Native Instruments today introduced KINETIC METAL, a new instrument for creating ethereal sound beds, shifting textures, and delicate, tonal percussion. KINETIC METAL combines creatively-sampled, unconventional metal objects with artificial waveforms and is aimed primarily at producers and sound designers seeking atmospheric textures, mallet-like lead sounds, and delicate percussion. Two large, easy-to-use modification wheels allow users to quickly manipulate the sound. An auto-motion feature allows producers to set one or both of these wheels turning on their own, giving them freedom to focus on performance. KINETIC METAL runs in KONTAKT 5 and the free KONTAKT 5 PLAYER. It is available from the NI Online Shop for $99 / 99 € / ¥ 9,800.
KINETIC METAL consists of over 200 individual, multi-layered patches. These were created by sampling a wide range of non-traditional sources such as cauldrons, broken clocks, kettles, and swords. Each patch is made up of a combination of four of these sampled sounds plus four artificial waveforms. The four most distinct 'personalities' of each custom patch are set as starting points on KINETIC METAL's Forge wheel. Turning the Forge wheel continuously, clockwise or counterclockwise, morphs the sound through different combinations of these four 'personalities'. Furthermore, eight sliders allow manual adjustments to the level of each sample and waveform in the mix, allowing a fine degree of customization of each patch's overall sound.
KINETIC METAL's FX wheel provides another level of sound manipulation. It controls a set of custom effects that are mapped to blend together as the wheel is turned. Like the Forge wheel, the FX wheel has four main settings. The combination of these two wheels provides near-limitless possibilities for sonic sculpting. Producers can also design their own combinations by adjusting any of the eight effect knobs linked to the FX wheel -- the new setting automatically maps to that position on the FX wheel for instant recall within the session. The Motion button turns KINETIC METAL into a dynamic performance instrument, freeing producers to play chords, melodies or percussion while the textures morph automatically. When Motion is engaged, users have three options, depending on user-definable settings -- it automatically turns either the Forge or FX wheel, or both wheels together in sync, providing a sound that evolves over time.
KINETIC METAL was envisioned by renowned sound designer Jeremiah Savage. For over a year, Savage recorded a huge inventory of unconventional samples, then chose the best of them to create the sound palette in KINETIC METAL.
KINETIC METAL is available from the NI Online Shop for $99 / 99 € / ¥ 9,800.
▓▒░ ABOUT PROJECT PRESET ░▒▓
Torley believes an instrument should be awesomely playable from the start, and uses PROJECT PRESET to highlight the craft of instrument + sound designers.
== Rules ==
1. Never skip a sound within the focused area. (Exceptions include template setups and other "specialty banks".)
2. Play sounds you have never heard before, so your first reactions are documented on camera. (Exception: practice/warmup to gain familiarity with a new tool.)
3. Only feature tools you have or will use in actual productions to set a positive example for the electronic music community. Thinking you can do something is trumped by actually doing it every time.
(As of November 2013, subject to iteration)

man!! you should be paid by native instruments for selling their products. you express real genuine joy from the heart when you play with the presets. that translates to the fun we as potential customers would like to have. thanks man. you got the best vids on youtube for demos.!!
The developer was smart sending this to you. Makes me want it even though I wouldn't make it sing like you!
I listen to this to fall asleep. I love it
I love wind chimes so much! Thank you for sharing :D
Amazing video, Torley! Have a nice day all!

I love the way this sounds.
This instrument is absolutely amazing. This is definitely on my to-buy-immediately-given-the-money-to-buy-another-virtual-instrument list.

*Torley* , This is one of the most enjoyable demo/reviews! Cool sounds, *Jeremiah* !
Yay. Project Preset!
your knowledge of music theory is so inspiring. thanks for the great videos. cheers!
Due to money I can't really get alot of the programs you feature in your Project Presets, but I love watching these to see what you come up with. And I do get very inspired watching you. In fact a song I released last year for Halloween was inspired by you playing the Goblins patch in your Quantum Leap Goliath Pads Project Preset
Torley is back!
nice video as always you really help this community by inspiring us and showing os fantastic products
Thanks a LOT for this! I was wondering wether or not i should buy it and your video is exactly what i need!
Shit man... This is killer... So much versatility and style, and only $100 for that level of quality? That's a steal, man.

Thanks so much for the vid...watched it all. Very informative and entertainng. If/when I get this library I plan to send along a message to NI and let them know YOU were the reason. Peace.
very nice!
This guy is a legend
This is more enjoyable than watching a movie (:
omg man aweseome
so sick
You soled it me Torley Many Thanks
NI is awesome
Based on your "wish list" of things you would like in a controller that you talked about at about the 15:00 mark, I think you should check out the LinnStrument by Roger Linn. That thing is unlike any other MIDI controller I've seen. It's really expensive, but it's amazing how expressive it can be. I think it would be the ideal controller for Kinetic Metal.
Woohoo!
Hey Torley! Are you alive my friend? I forget you. I was following you 9 years ago.
If they aren't using this in the Dishonored 2 score, they should be!
Hi Torley. Thanks for a great run through! You say in the begining of your vid, that you have mapped your sliders on your keys. I have an M-Audio axiom49 and I've mapped out my sliders in one preset, but when I change to a new preset I have to assign them again. Is it possible to make a general midi map? Or do I have to assign and save for evert preset? Hope you understand my babblings !-) and maybe you Can help. Best regards, Jesper
Very nice video. I also make music, but with Fl Studio. This Kinetic Metal program is absolutely amazing and how you show us this in this video is even better.

Kontakt is actually a sample loader VST, and Kinetic Metal is a library made for it. You can use this in FL.

MistaHahn117 Thanks for responding! I suppose, that I already knew that and just suffered from having no attention. Gosh, I'm glad I became conscious... ^^ Do you have this library?
Great video, I think I will invest $100 because of your convinsing video. Cheers
where have you been...miss you make more, hope all is okay! 11-4-14
Please tell me how to turn my sounds into a wave form
Hey Torley, have you ever used Synthogy Ivory 2? If you're able to I'd love to see a review like this on that VST. Awesome review on this vst btw, very awesome sounds :D
Ohh that music box sound 9:00
Torley can i use that clip of you saying "oh thats dastardly!" in a song im working on?
Can you please record your "songs" that you made with your keyboard when you make project preset as a midi or something i really love these melodies that you made but i cant make them like you :/
I want this
I missed you D:

I got this yesterday, not only because NI was running their half-off sale, but a lot based on your review, thanks! Wondering what computer system you're running. Your CPU seems barely affected and mine is suffering while running this in Maschine.

I just got this as well. How is it using it with Maschine? I just got a Maschine MK2 a few weeks ago and im loving it.

MNDFND Well I'm having issues with it in Maschine. My PC runs Maschine just fine with everything else. But not this. My CPU must just not be powerful enough because I get pauses and clicks and static. So as a result, I haven't really done anything with Kinetic Metal yet. I'm kind of disappointed because I was really hoping to do some cool atmospheric stuff in Maschine.
I want a this
I think I need a junkyard orchestra!
Great. We´ll have to chat.
Friendly greetings earthlings!!
37:00 nice
I love you, Torley (no homo)!

Don't be so quick to insult, its not cool. There are more personalities than faces in the world. Torley has a very personal video explaining more about himself and his stuggles; before you say he's creepy learn a little more about the guy.

Jason Paul, you really think i give a shit about the struggles of some one else when i have my own issues to deal with. Opinion is personal and observation is personal. So in my opinion. FUCK OFF douche bag
