I 💜 Tori Amos her voice is so hyptonizing

I think this is a great song. It has sort of a rainy day sound and feel, which is I think what she was going for. It's melancholy and upbeat at the same time.

Tori will always be wecome to England.

Absolute rubbish, southern England isn't so bad. I'm Bermudian, so similar climate to Florida and actually the rainfall is heavier in New York per year than London.

Absolute rubbish indeed. I wasn't talking about the rain. I was talking about the sun, which is what the lyrics of the song are about. Tori Amos has homes in England and Florida. She's originally from Maryland. Her lyrics seem to relate to her life experience. There is no comparison between the amount of sunlight you get in the Caribbean or Florida compared to Southern England or Cornwall where Tori I assume still has a home. There is a reason why Florida is known as the Sunshine State. We don't have endless days of dark over-cast skies. Mentioning the rainfall in New York is completely random, but Florida also receives less rainfall. 6 months of a dry season. 6 months of a rainy season.

I think it's sun as a metaphor for positivism, drive, energy, aspirations. England has a can't do/shouldn't try attitude that exudes a kind hopelessness and bleakness.

As a Dutchwoman who used to live in Florida and loved it there and moved to Britain in 2004 from Amsterdam, I can relate to the chorus of this song... as most Brits are sad and miserable (many dirt-poor, abused by their own government), trapped in steel corsets and gold-painted concrete, and crave sunshine. It is a metaphor @londonismycity Even though it is true that the English south coast - where I am, fortunately - has a lot more sun than Amsterdam and I really do kinda like that. "You've been down before." ""Don't you forget. You bring your own sun." Your soul. So I second @Mr Mister. "takes hat off and bows gratefully"

This song tells me how different life is for northerners compared to southerners, and having lived in both michigan and florida, i know first-hand. its more gritty in northern locations, necessitating the need to 'make ur own sun'.

The song is about how she moves to england to be with her new english husband and he shows her around and how foreign she feels , initially.She is a true Brit now.
