It's so beautiful to see her playing this song. She's come through so much and grown so much from the suppressed and fragmented girl who wrote that song. It's so encouraging. It's hard to remember that there was a time when Tori hadn't found her voice. Beautiful.

Okay, equating her physical appearance with her internal psychology is sexisxt and something she critiques in her musis. I have grown up with her as well and I have never lost sight of that fiery powerful figure, The Goddess is reinvigorated with every album.

I agree. I saw her after her first album came out, by herself with a baby grand piano, in a small theater in NYC. She played almost every song differently than it was composed on the album, and even played Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. It was awesome. With her raw passion and talent, she could have played Mary Had a Little Lamb and I would have been completely blown away. She taught me enough about women to make me worthy of my wife some years later. Thanks Tori!

She writes(obviously from her heart), performs(you try it) here flawlessly and continues despite juvenile criticisms. I guess someday her audience will grow up someday and be pissed off when someone makes a MegaHit out of one of her songs. Lets all grow a little and appreciate The Music, The Writer and The Performance. I've never heard this song before. It is a great piece of "WORK" I will be listening to Tori!

I saw at the Sydney Opera House just recently. I think her makeup and wig is mainly for a stage getup. I think all that getup works well on stage. I think in a large concert hall it helps to project something extra to the audience. On stage she is so successful at capturing your attention.

Come on, the sign of a good artist is being able to perform their material in different ways. Otherwise it can get boring, imagine how they feel playing their songs the same over and over, they are not going to do it exactly the same just to please those people who want to here it as it originally was. This is a great performance.

always wondered what tori would look like with straight hair, and here is my answer. Beautiful, as is the song. Just listen to the lyrics, like all of her songs, they are heartwrenchingly brilliant , poignant, and somewhat obtuse. And the voice is to fall in love with.

Kylie Minogue and company used to put on a helluva production. AND she wasn't "ManDonna" or Shitney. The worst thing that happened controversy-wise was she got sick. That being said, her time has come and gone too..Her USA tour had it's moments, but was overall, not worth the wait for all her loyalists. I have grown-up and moved on. Talent like Marie Digby come to mind. What a LOVELY, talented singer!. NOW that is a GODDESS!

I gave you a thumbs up for your comment because it's one , if not THE only intelligent response to what I have said. You're completely justified in challenging my contentions and I welcome it. You "thought" about what you wrote and thats the key of WHY I'm here. To challenge people to actually listen and "view" the whole package that is "Victoria Amos". ,,,,Victoria admits she uses her music as her means to communicate her social and political ideology. She WANTS to get inside... (continued)

@PappyCaligula Every musician has a message it doesn't mean that they are indoctrinating anyone, tori message has been quite strong through her career and it's not about hate, it's about unity, recognizing that both, male and female are important and that they have to work together to create a whole, in order to spread her message she uses her femininity to expose the other side, the female, if anything tori is making people question our society.

Thanks for the acknowledgement and I agree with the bigger fish analogy. BUT where I"m coming from is to stop some bad things happening, the seed must be stopped from being planted to avoid bigger issues later on. It's hard to explain but it's an acquired knowledge thing that must come with time. I can say definatively, I KNOW that Vicky isn't just expressing a different way to view things. She is actively trying to endoctrinate to think HER way/follow her. The Elitism is totally on her part.

in their own way, all music is good, but every person has a type of music which mostly appeals to them. why do people argue about which is better? Can't they stop for a second and appreciate someones work instead of offending the people who may have strong memories linking to the music- like i heard this song when my grandad died and someone saying this music is shit is, well.........

Somehow after watching this performance I don't think the singer Tori would be able to play this song just as good if she had somebody playing the piano and she was singing. It's as if the two have to go together to perform and she wouldn't feel the same if she was not playing the piano along with her singing.
