People just didn’t talk about rape back when she wrote and sang this: certainly not women - not out loud and terrible. Sobbing. The pain in her eyes, her voice, the set of her chin is palpable. I didn't get the happy ending, not for lack of trying, but I don't have better days ahead. I still require surgery once a year to keep the damage at bay. Fighting back from that, finally running again, and I was hit by a car on foot. Now I have a neurological disease that makes even a slight breeze burn, clothing hurt, and touch excruciating. Alone, isolated, literally dying, because another injury and being a "rape victim" made me damaged goods, not worth saving for a matter of approximately ten grand. I stared a train down the other day. No surviving this time. My one in a million daughter is an adult now, and I will only hold her back.

The fact that she chose to perform this after the fact of putting it on her album is beyond brave. You can almost feel her reliving it as she performs, there’s anger at times, fear, shame but also for her to take that unforgivable crime and process that through her art is very empowering not to mention the people that have been through similar experiences and can relate to her. Absolutely love her

I couldn't heal her no matter how much I tried, nor what I sacrificed, and I sacrificed everything, in 2011, she killed herself, now I carry her scar's, her pain, and the blackness she carried. My great grandmother was said to be the most beautiful women in her town, even being signed to a model agency very briefly. She had three children, all women of different dispositions. The oldest was strong, muscular and modest (she was able to aquire three masters from 35-50 years old). The middle child, a spitfire that followed her mother's footsteps before finding drugs (she is now a drug counselor). The youngest wanted nothing more to have a quiet life. All four women have been abused. All four have been taken advantage of at least once. Sexual assault can happen to any woman (and everyone else of course). This has always been a problem and the only thing to stop it is proper consequences for those who ruin peoples' lives

You can call me old. But still I Admire the courage of this woman. Life inspiring.
Some things make me hurt before I watch them
She is an amazing example of strenght for everybody and a priceless helping figure for all the victims in this cruel world filled with so much monsters.
How amazing.. she doesnt have to play music her voice is music..
Best acapella i have ever heard. I have found songwriting is so much better once it is fully figured out acapella. Plus, such honest expression. Thank you tori for being so authenticly expressive. You are truly an inspiration. Love you, tori.
damn. damn damn. just damn. i remember the first time i heard this. damn. still hits just as hard
Absolutely love her
Sharing this everywhere I can because women need to be done with their institutional silence.
Sobbing, every single time i watch this.
She sings what is on my heart.... as a victim myself... this song always gets to me I want to live. I have done well. Found a great guy and had kids. I was recently assaulted again by a physiotherapist and i find myself here again.... all the old wounds ripped up and bleeding.

Don't be silent
I'm actually crying Love to you, Tori
the silence.
Unbroken.....that's strength...god I love her....
This song melody reminds me of Gloomy Sunday. I have a bad memories when I was 6 but not as heavy as this song's story, I try to write a song about that for my band but I couldn't sing it, it scares me I don't know why, but Tori sang it with bravery. She deserve neverending happiness in her life.
No words. Been through it also. And written songs about it with ambiguous lyrics.
You've been my idol since I was 14 ad still are , I sang this song over and over walking the streets working since I was 17 , I'm out of that now but this song to me is still hauntingly beautiful 😢❤❤❤
After watching this performance many times, I just realized she's wearing a "slinky red thing" like she mentions in the song.....wow

have loved tori since 92 i believe she sings this as gaining back her life after seeing hell in its brutal form. tori's music and strenght have helped heal many many of her fans throughout the years and her early years live shows of just her alone at piano continue to be some of the most powerful live shows in music
Reasons i love your work so much.
cant suffer the pain 😭🔥😭
Incredibly and deeply moving Thanks for this moment of true beauty!
The thing is, now I can never see Barbados. For if I do, I will lose the ability to chant this song to myself to keep me through.
Have just come from The Fable Sphere an Frank ..You are so courageous so brave thanku ..the most beautiful voice .what a performances .crying again .. You will give others the courage to t come forward much love an God bless x
I'm also a survive woman I was rape last year 2023..one year now.. This song inspires like me as a strong woman to heal and forget bad incident rape to me.... He's a monster.. I never forget trauma incident of rape.
She is so strong.
My ex wife had something bad happen to her when she was young, it broke her. I couldn't heal her no matter how much I tried, nor what I sacrificed, and I sacrificed everything, in 2011, she killed herself, now I carry her scar's, her pain, and the blackness she carried. If it weren't for God, I would not be alive now. This song is her song. It's up to us men to protect our women from those who would do them harm. 😞

I'm so sorry for your loss, Bless you {♡}
such a strong courageous woman.
This is the song for a quiet recovery and fight back against the worst of humanity that humans can throw at you. Humanity worst enemy is always HUMANS
Prachtig... om even stil van te worden
Perfeita!
more than perfect
SO BRAVE !
One of the most beautiful songs.. I really love Tori and just did a cover of this song. It would mean a lot to me if a few people could check it out!
LOVE.
After that performance, a one minute albeit awkward silence would have been as appropriate as a round of applause. 💕
U R Not Alone.
wow!
It's so heavy
Every time.
I love her.
I heard this live in Grand Rapids. Not a sound in the audience.
“… but I haven’t seen Barbados so I must get out of this…” I’ll never forget the first time I heard this lyric I thought it was so brilliant as as a survivor of rape myself
wow
Me .love you.
Let's have a fear interview contest, when he doesn't know if his gun has any bullets (his guy just gave it to him and said he would need it); he just knows it doesn't fit his pants while he's sitting for a coffee night with a stranger...?
Truth
So sad to hear this.
This was at the beginning of her career when she sang this...

Bravery absolute bravery with an artistic creative genius. I have not been raped but i know what its like to feel like a sexual object and have cutting remarks as. a woman
I want to like this song, but I hate the reason for its existance. What Tori is singing about I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
tori´s traurigstes lied
5 a.m. Viernes por la mañana; Jueves por la noche. Lejos de dormir. Todavía estoy despierta y conduciendo; No puedo ir a casa, Obviamente.
