I could never figure out how she could sing this once, let alone over and over again. Such a brave thing to do. The women she has helped over time by speaking the unspeakable... If she never did anything else, this would have been enough... She truly is a on-off

i have loved tori since 92 i believe she sings this as gaining back her life after seeing hell in its brutal form. tori's music and strenght have helped heal many many of her fans throughout the years and her early years live shows of just her alone at piano continue to be some of the most powerful live shows in music

People just didn’t talk about rape back when she wrote and sang this: certainly not women - not out loud and terrible. The horror, fear, revulsion, and ghastly moment by moment fight to live through it, and come out alive and functioning on the other side. Them came Tori. She could have done nothing else but this song, and still made a huge impact! *So Much Respect!*

Not true. Terry Hall of The Specials and Fun Boy Three wrote about being abducted and raped by a teacher as a 12 year old child in the song Well Fancy That in 1983.

Thank you Tori Amos I survived rape and now as I heal from the broken ribs the scratches the burns the bruises the bite marks and this anger in my soul that cries for revenge I know I can heal and learn to love again. I turned to music and I found your song. I cried inside because you give me hope of feeling and looking handsome once again. No one should ever have to feel so low and alone but your song proves I'm not alone and I love you for that thank you forever

Standing there nothing but her voice echoing in silence, telling her story and those eyes while she sings...Intensity of this song is almost unbearable , I'm not really sure if I want to cry or throw up or both ...but the song makes me feel if that makes any sense at all...

Sobbing. The pain in her eyes, her voice, the set of her chin is palpable. I didn't get the happy ending, not for lack of trying, but I don't have better days ahead. I still require surgery once a year to keep the damage at bay. Fighting back from that, finally running again, and I was hit by a car on foot. Now I have a neurological disease that makes even a slight breeze burn, clothing hurt, and touch excruciating. Alone, isolated, literally dying, because another injury and being a "rape victim" made me damaged goods, not worth saving for a matter of approximately ten grand. I stared a train down the other day. No surviving this time. My one in a million daughter is an adult now, and I will only hold her back.

The fact that she chose to perform this after the fact of putting it on her album is beyond brave. You can almost feel her reliving it as she performs, there’s anger at times, fear, shame but also for her to take that unforgivable crime and process that through her art is very empowering not to mention the people that have been through similar experiences and can relate to her. Absolutely love her

My ex wife had something bad happen to her when she was young, it broke her. I couldn't heal her no matter how much I tried, nor what I sacrificed, and I sacrificed everything, in 2011, she killed herself, now I carry her scar's, her pain, and the blackness she carried. If it weren't for God, I would not be alive now. This song is her song. It's up to us men to protect our women from those who would do them harm. 😞

My great grandmother was said to be the most beautiful women in her town, even being signed to a model agency very briefly. She had three children, all women of different dispositions. The oldest was strong, muscular and modest (she was able to aquire three masters from 35-50 years old). The middle child, a spitfire that followed her mother's footsteps before finding drugs (she is now a drug counselor). The youngest wanted nothing more to have a quiet life. All four women have been abused. All four have been taken advantage of at least once. Sexual assault can happen to any woman (and everyone else of course). This has always been a problem and the only thing to stop it is proper consequences for those who ruin peoples' lives
