Totally agree! This song came out when I split up with my University girlfriend. It means so much to me, the memory of a very painful time but deep gratitude to Tori for helping me through it all.

"Funny how the distance seems to grow" - amazing lyric. Thankyou Tori.

i played this track over and over, it got me back from a very dark period in my life. Wonderful song.

This was during the height of her I don't give a $&%# I'm gonna make my record how I want to screw the pundits executives and the hoops to jump through phase.

The best live version of this song...

It's like after those lines about him hitting her, she musically smoothes back into something pretty and nice, almost like a victim of abuse trying to make everyone else think the relationship is perfectly fine. I love how Tori is constantly weaving the story, even without words.

That's crazy how she could make this piano sound like a all band of musicians, and painting beautiful scenes bravo Ms. Amos ❤

I love this! This is before the song was in it's final stage. She sings we'll take vacation not holiday. I love this woman. My favorite musician ever! I've had the pleasure to meet her at least once.

I just adore this song. I like the feeling it evokes even though the story it tells is really quite sad. I can envision the delicate blue and white china teacups and plates on a well set table. It's really quite beautiful, but at the same time there is a current of ambivalence running through the background. Tori Amos has an amazing ability to capture an emotional snapshot and translate it into a musical expression. In my opinion she remains unparalleled. This is my favorite song on the DVD.

This performance of "China" was going through my head when I went trick or treating on Halloween a couple of weeks ago. It was a moonlit night, and it seemed very fitting for some reason...

Like a fine wine, this song and performance gets better with age

I have a better idea of what this song is about now. Those middle 8 lines: " You love to hit me boy" are not on the CD version of Little Earthquakes. I guess this song is not only about a relationship becoming cold and distant (my orginal interpretation), but also abusive. Tori is so raw and emotionally revealing here. Fantastic performance.

My favorite version of hers of my favorite song of hers. Brilliant performance. So emotional and that piano is awesome. I think this was her first performance on stage in front of a large audience.

Certainly one of her best performances ever. Totally magical - pure unspoilt Tori Amos. I saw her live this year in Liverpool a totally wonderful performance but this must have been a wonderful concert for those who were there.

Saw her live in Liverpool this year. But this performance must be a memory to treasure for those who were there. Heared it first in West Wales, back in 93 when i split up with my University girlfriend - i feel deep gratitude to Tori for what she did for me.

For a good portion of my life , I genuinely thought I was a high functioning autistic. This song makes me think of what i imagine an NT (neuro-typical) person would sing to an autistic person. I don't think that it's a stretch to see the hints of autism in this song!

Funny how the distance learns to grow

While I love these earlier performances and think they are amazing. It's still weird to watch her play anything other than a Bosendorfer. However, China is my second favorite Little Earthquakes song and this is an exceptional version of it.

I saw this at 0 dislikes and disliked immediately, just so I can say I was Tori's first... in a way...

EYES too close together by about 2mm. Sorry i concentrate on this and not suicide music.
