The mountain stands at 258 meters high, and the hole is about 160 meters long, 35 meters high, and 20 meters wide, formed during the ice age as ice and water wore away the mountain's softer rocks.

The hat turned into the mountain with the hole in the middle when the first rays of sunlight touched it, as all trolls turn to stone in daylight.
