It's apparent these guys know the rules well, and made the action feel fast. Looking into the camera over the GM's shoulder for exposition was a nice touch.

They should know them well, they wrote the game. It would be hilarious if they didn’t, though. 😂

Great video, but I would really like to see how this works with multiple player characters, and multiple monster types. This system is pretty easy to grasp for 1v1 or 1v small group, but more actors confuse me.

Wow!! Thank you! This helps a lot! Would be possible to have more like this? A Kill Conflict with major compromises would be super nice as I'm struggling in how to tackle that

A kill conflict with a major compromise is definitely a struggle! The losers might be left for dead but barely survive, or get the chance to beg for their lives, or kill nearly all of the winning side, and so on. It’s dangerous stuff! Check pages 77 and 78 of the Scholar’s Guide for the full guidance.

Mate, this is amazing! The editing and the animations are fantastic and really helped me put it all together! If you dont mind me asking a couple question: 1. Do the PC's, in a group, split their disposition amongst themselves? The book states they choose a Team Lead, so they make their roll as in the video but split it amongst themselves? 2. At 11:39 why does the PC get a +1 success from their might? Maybe I missed something in the book, sorry! Thank you again for making a video that's so comprehensive! I'm also wondering if you plan on making a similar video for regular skill checks against obstacles?

    1. Yes, disposition is divided into hit points for each individual at the start of the conflict. In this case, since Beren is solo, he retains his dispo as hit points. However, the tomb guardians must split their dispo into 4 HP each. 2. Beren's Might is 3. Tomb Guardian Might is 2. Superior Might breaks ties in your favor by a margin of 1 or increases the effect of a successful test by 1.

@@gagrin1565 IIRC, +1 per point of difference. Might also limits how you can engage certain creatures. For example, at Might 3, you're a gnat to a giant or dragon, so you'll need magic or certain level benefits to boost your Might to give you a shot at affecting it.

@@jesserodriguez7680 If it helps, Torchbearer is by same designer and crew behind Burning Wheel and shares many elements with it. In the video, Luke's character Beren is trying to steal some treasure when some undead rise to defend their burial ground. Torchbearer has a way of simulating various kinds of scenes, like killing enemies in a fight, capturing them instead, or driving them away. These scenes are each called "Conflicts", and in this example, Luke and Thor play out an example of a Conflict where the dwarf Beren is trying to Drive Away the risen undead foes. During conflicts, there are various rules for how to proceed like each side secretly choosing the three actions, in order, they will attempt during the first round of combat. (In the video, they use cards to pick their actions instead of writing them down.) This keeps the game dangerous and tactical because each action, like Attack, Defend, Feign, and Maneuver all interact in different ways with the foe. Luke also considers how some of Beren's items will help him in this conflict, like using the shield or handaxe. After playing out the first three actions, the first round is over, so Beren grabs his shield and they continue another round of the Drive Off conflict. Once it's over, because Beren lost some ground, he has to receive a small penalty, so Thor makes the dwarf feel some negative status effects like Afraid and Hungry & Thirsty. And finally, the treasure is recovered! I hope that helps a bit.
