This video will explain all aspects of diving in Toram Online, starting from the point system, hits required for monsters, and answering the question of whether luck or +drop rate books have an effect on total diving points.
Forgot to mention destroy the tentacles from the giant octopus they give 1000 points. Giant octopus spawns after 2300 points has been accumulated or after +4mins.

If you want to get ~120-130k diving points per run you need ~400% drop rate for books + using a max luk character and all party members with luk as well. Also make sure you beat the tentacles from the boss phase first they give 1k points.
For those curious it took me 2hrs to gain ~4mil diving points @ 300% drop rate + Luk character, using my meta strat on my shorts video which saves ~1min per run
