Right about now don't complain about the fishing in the Keys...it's freaking cold everywhere else in the country!! Even up here in the Panhandle of Fla it's in the mid low 50's and that sux for this time of year!!!😎👍👍

Clear water, warm weather ... a great start to the trip. You make tossing to the edge of the mangroves look easy. Crushing the barbs is cheap insurance for feet and hands.

At first I wanted to give you advice about where to go down there, but very quickly you proved you could figure it out. I was great to watch. Fresh cut pin fish make great bait too, and you can catch them in the ell grass on very small hooks with 1/4 inch cubes of your old too chewed up Gulp baits.

Nice video. I Just came back from a 4 day xmas working vacation. In a word....the keys are not as diverse as I would like. I catch more variety 200 miles north in Sanibel. The wind kicked my ass most days as was the case in Nov when I went. Speaking to a local he says Aug,Sep Oct are the best months.I got some snapper, cudas and jacks. Also a couple snook and jump and spit on a 25 lb tarp.

I agree - the wind here makes the fishing here very very difficult for a small boat angler. The convenient options are more difficult if you don’t have the craft to take it offshore.

Flattening the barbs on trebles is a good idea in general. You’ll kill a lot fewer releases that way, especially delicate fish like speckled trout.

What you likely hooked under the bridge was a grouper. They tend to hit artificial hard and fast. As soon as they bite they'll dive back into their hole in the structure for cover.
