    Thanks, sure will do, but running stateful apps such as kakfa in k8s only seems easy until they break and you lose everything.

    it used to be stored in zookeeper, in new versions it's stored in kafka topic "__consumer_offsets"

    If thousands of trucks are sending their locations to the "location" topic in Kafka, and a particular truck's location message is sent but is placed a million messages behind in the topic's offset, it means that I won't be able to retrieve that message immediately, correct? Is there a way to fetch messages based on the truck ID instead?

    Usually, you're trying to keep lag as low as possible while reading kafka topic. And yes, if you simply publish all messages you need to read all of them before you reach your kafka message with that particular track id.

    How do I know a website is using Apache Kafka?

    Websites don't directly access Kafka, so you can't detect it. If a website uses Kafka, it's via some REST/websocket API only.
