Top Vacuum Cleaner For A Mid Budget

Ғылым және технология

The Kenmore 600 series is our pick for top overall vacuum at a mid price point. We looked at suction, airflow, HEPA filtration, pet friendliness, and performed many other tests to select what we think is the best overall vacuum for most people.

I used a Kenmore canister for many many years with only multiple belt replacements, and a lot of bags. It was pretty cheap to run and, aside from the belts, very reliable.

I think Kenmore is vested in making good quality products because they have a name reputation on the line for ALL their product lines. If they got bad reviews of something as simple as a vacuum, it would impact things like their washers and dryers, etc...

While this failed the cat scare teat, my dog absolutely hated it. This vacuum (well, the 400 series, but close enough to the same thing) made dusting and cleaning, enjoyable. Compared to my dad’s old upright, and my little Ryobi cordless, which made cleaning miserable.

Recently got a 400 series for a steal and it's impressive so far. I vacuumed with the old cheap bagless and went back over it with the kenmore and had to change the bag before I was done with the areas that had already been "cleaned" It has it's flaws compared to the $$$$ canisters. I can't afford those brands and can work with the tiny inconveniences of the kenmore.

If you’re willing to go with an upright, the Shark Apex is actually pretty good with anti tangle. amzn.to/47qOYuc The Dyson v11 and up is quite good at anti tangle as well amzn.to/3sGP3uJ Some vacuums have brush rolls that pop out too. This Kenmore doesn’t claim to be anti tangle though, and I get your frustration!

The Dyson V11 is great, but not comparable to a corded vacuum. If you have a lot of carpet, I would recommend a corded vacuum. If your flat has mostly hard surfaces, the Dyson is great. For corded, the Shark AZ1002 is very good. I'm not sure it will be as reliable as the Kenmore but mine has been fine. I understand Henry is very popular in the UK, but I have never tried one.

@Vaccum Nerds. We are looking for a high quality vac that we can use on large areas of dense carpet in our home. We have a DC65 multi floor Dyson we have owned for many years. It worked fine in our last house. We just got a new home and the carpet is more dense. We were surprised when we tried to use the DC65 multi surface floor vac on this carpet. The higher quality and more dense carpet in this new home is hard to vacuum with the DC65. It does not have any adjustable capability to raise the head for the carpet. We want a upright vac and not the type that has a canister you pull around. Can you give us a vac we can buy. Money is not a concern. Bagless is preferred. Retractable extension cord is nice but if it decreases the quality of the recommendation then scratch that. We want it to have a good filter. We wish for the Vac to have easy repair ability as well as easy maintenance. Thanks in advance. Oh and of course be adjustable for the head to raise and lower so one can adjust it if the suction makes pushing the vac to hard.

I recommend a kenmore floor care elite. Bagged vacuums are superior to baggless in my experience. Also look into kirby vacuums, very powerful and may be one of the best for large rooms and high pile carpet.

  • @26-CJ

@@cleanandpristine Really. Do they offer the sealed system to keep the dust from going back into the room? Also do these have the retractable extension cord? If it does not have the retractable cord. Does any of the premium vacs they make have them? If they have them in a canister style vac and that type of vac will work on thick carpets if it has adjustments on it to raise the head so it will not get stuck on the carpet then we may entertain that style vac. A bag style would be nice since one does not have to keep cleaning out the dust in these bagless vacs. We really do want to get a retractable extension cord. We are so tired of dealing with cords.

@@vacuumnerds From what I understand...the new manufacdturer "cleva" did in fact make these new ones "sealed" whereas the Panasonic made Kenmores were NOT sealed...I can attest to that as I had 3 of the Panasonic made Kenmores in the past and exhaust air came out multiple places on the vacuum in addition to the HEPA..behind the wheels, the cord area, etc.. which sort of made the HEPA pointless.. That seems to be becoming a thing now to make them sealed.. which I'm very happy about...

I was loyal to Kenmore until this vacuum. This is the third Kenmore Canister vacuum I have bought and my LEAST favorite. Canister vacuums are supposed to be designed to tackle any surface. This does not do well for people with oriental rugs, wood floors and low furniture that you want to vacuum under. Due to some trendy “over-engineering” is it much less adaptable than its predecessors for cleaning under things and in tight spaces. The attachments now have “buttons” to click them into the wand. They only click in one way and cannot be turned sideways (like the older model). This bulk makes it impossible to get under vertically short spaces such as under a low chest of drawers. (This vacuum has 6” as the lowest you can vacuum under things. My old model was 2.5”!) The wide floor attachment is now not as wide and (again) has an overengineered “improvement” --- a ball and socket joint. This makes the brush head simply pivot back and forth, never coming into full contact with the rug, so it is useless on rugs. So, I tried the power brush on the rugs... but is so aggressive it eats my rugs and even if you turn the brush off, it is so big and cumbersome you can’t get around furniture legs like dining table and the chairs. Lastly, they added unnecessary “buttons” to open the doors to the compartments, The buttons trigger as you are moving the vacuum around, the doors pop open unexpectedly (which is a hassle) and also can lead the doors to break off as you are going around your house. Edit: Forgot to mention it is SO much louder than the older model which was the best vacuum I ever had int my life! This vacuum will terrify your dogs and cats, and the neighbors across the street who will hear it.

Reading your comment was like reading a dark moody consumer review written by Betty Broderick in the late 80's. The entire diatribe felt deeply unsettling to me. Like I was reading a seething manifesto written by an exhausted homemaker who is shackled in a hell hole of domestic engineering and no perspective on how our attitude is the defining factor in living happily or living so miserably. Your intense hostility is so flagrant I felt it in one paragraph meant to focus on a vacuum but all I got was t"his chick is about to detonate". Nobody gets this triggered over a vacuum.... It's not about the vacuum... Look deeper....

Thank you for reviewing my review @@Katiekay. I re-read it and noticed it is full of facts and details about the vacuum that were missing in the main review. And nothing else. (Although you are right that I do have my fair share of domestic misery with one big dog and three men.) I do not vacuum often, but my old Kenmore vacuum made it easier. I had to look up your reference to Betty Broderick (since, unlike you, I am not an officianado of obscure 1980s murderesses) Maybe we both need to "look deeper” as you say - me on the internet to find a better vacuum, and you, to figure out why a vacuum review on TouTube review provoked you to fantasize about a stranger's inner psyche. By the way, I felt a lot better when, after reviewing it, I dragged it out to the street by its too-short hose and smashed it to pieces with a baseball bat. (Kidding)
