If you get the knock off helmet and put 3D pads in them it's actually really close to the ops core but way cheaper than every helmet on the table, and once you put a helmet cover on it with all your attachments it'll be hard to even tell the difference

This is my mindset. I have achs I high cut as placeholders and added protection and weight training for drills. Unless I get a package deal with nvgs on the 2nd hand market with some toobs, I'm prolly gonna get a opscore clone and just upgrade the harness and pads for comfort. Itl help me save money for other things like comms, ammo, and house projects while not having "nothing" to work with. Eventually I'll buy a brand new ballistic helmet. For now. Just training aids and place holders for now.

6:42 neither unity marks, axl rac-links or team wendys own OEM Quick Release headset adapters use that space where the bungees lock in, instead they utilize the two bolts where you can add the extra pic rail. I'm confused what system you're referring to that uses the bungee space.

TW bungies are only hooked together for shipping...you're supposed to use one or both to secure your NV setup. Or unhook them and use an aftermarket solution. As for the lip, if you're using a Wilcox G series, it's a bit of an issue, but not really an issue at all with a Norotos. Peltor or AMPs adaptors for a TW aren't any more expensive than what you'd have to pay for Arc rail mounts for an Opscore. And unless you're in an frag heavy environment, I just don't see the point for civilian ownership of the heavier, neck damaging, more expensive ballistics that only stop handgun rounds, IF you're lucky. BFD with handgun hits even on the best ballistic is scary, and rifle rounds honey badger them anyway. For most of us, it's a comms/earpro/NV host, and LARP accessory. If you're not expecting frag, stick with a bump. :)

Then there’s me with my FMA bump helmet (ops core cut with much better pads and a actual liner in comparison to the Amazon bump) with a cheap rip off team Wendy boa system 🤣 it’s done me well and it’s still going strong as a mounting platform for my nods for hiking in the highlands & islands , I eventually want to upgrade the actual helmet in the future but may go with 4D pads first however In terms of the question of compromise that was bright up near the end it might be worth looking into the likes of the crye nightcap or tracer tactical head harness, I have a nightcap with a evolution gear g69 (utterly solid) that I use in conjunction with my helmet depending on the situation, helmet for comfort, nightcap for portability Cheers for the video lad, all the best from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Didn't know why I didn't see this video yet, but I'll share my 2 cents. I started with the HHV, hated it. Uncomfortable, no retention adjustment, sits too high and looks goofy, and yes the MLOK sucks a fat one. Sold it. Went to a black TW, it was ok but wasn't as comfortable as I wanted it to be and the fact that they don't offer green in the bump series is absolutely stupid, I'd have to buy a cover. Sold it. I now have the newer Ops Core bump and it's perfect. Comfortable, comes in green, good retention adjustment and uses ARC rails. Found a winner.

I don’t need a ballistic as it just for frag. I got my TW Carbon while it was still 620-650. I use it around vehicles, rappelling and SAR. And ofc the occasional mountain bike ride. 😂 Carbon fiber dissipates the shock better than just plastic. Plus I use the otto earpro mounts mounted on the rear slots with peltors as those lock and dont squish the gel cups like the amp arms. I ain’t paying 500 for a plastic bump let alone 1k for the carbon ops core helmet.

@@RCx44 1. I believe you’re right, I was thinking just M855. 2. You’re correct in terms of NIJ ratings, but Europe has their own certifications for many manufacturers that does rate helmets. 3. Zenturion is one that comes to mind but there are other titanium composite up-armor plates that attach to helmets that will make them withstand rifle rounds. And one US company out of Colorado has better IIIA tested graphene composite helmets, but I’m sure they will soon have their own up-armor plates as well. Yes, no certifications, but these companies use the same third party testers and procedures that meet or exceed standards, those companies just don’t batch test their products because it’s incredibly expensive, not just in terms of paying for the test certification, but also in the amount of product that they lose in attrition as a result of the testing, that they would otherwise sell.

I have the Team Wendy ballistic helmet. I honestly thought I was brain dead and couldn't figure out the bungee system. They are horrible and won't connect to anything. I purchased the HHV ballistic before the team wendy. 1st helmet, yes 1st helmet, the hardware was unfinished, and the kevlar inside was peeling. HHV said it wouldn't compromise the protection... PEELING KEVLAR! The 2nd helmet after a refund, same unfinished and mismatched hardware bolts, and I got my final refund and never looked at HHV again. Pure junk, but don't worry, peeling kevlar will save the day.

Much easier to change skrim than the covers with all your stuff on it. It’s tedious and a pain, but maybe it’s therapeutic? Lol idk
