You forgot to mention the Bloemencorso, flower parade. Held every year on the third Saturday of April which this year is the 22nd and runs from Noordwijk to Haarlem. With over a million spectators along the route it's not the ideal day to visit the Keukenhof though.

Spring would be a cool time to check out Amsterdam or any place in the Netherlands! Michigan has its own tulip festival over in the city of Holland, but I'm sure the tulips are even better over in the Netherlands!

Thanks for all the videos on Amsterdam. My husband and I are going to there next month by ferry from Newcastle accidentally arriving the day before King’s Day. Not sure what to think about that. We are in our 60s and 70s, lol. It is our second time visiting and we managed to miss having Bitterballen and stroopwaffle the first time. Do you have any recommendations where to go for those?

Bring something orange for King’s day and you will be okay 😄 And stroopwafels are hard to miss, generally a bit more tasteful at bakery, but at a supermarket are okay as well (best with “roomboter”). Bitterballen goes well with a beer, most cafés have them on the menu…

Thank you for your comment! A few things to know is that King's Night is the night before King's Day, so you may see some partying when you arrive. But the King's Day festivities will be pretty central around the main canal belt in Amsterdam. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you see a sea of people, just avoid it and that's pretty easy to do. I'd ask your accommodation if they have any specific recommendations around where you'll be. There are plenty of more chill things going on as well. But if you take a walk around the neighborhoods outside the center, it should be quite festive without being overwhelming. Some of the best bitterballen I've had are at Pigs & Punch, and any of the restaurants in the Hotel Krasnapolsky. The bars have good bitterballen but these are a notch above in my opinion. If anyone else is reading this, do you know any spots that make them homemade? The ONLY place I'll tell people to go for a proper stroopwafel is on the Albert Cuyp Market at Rudi's Original Stroopwafel. But if you're in the center and craving something similar head to Van Stapele Koekmakerij. It's more of a cookie, instead of a waffle, but in a similar style. If you want to dive into more Amsterdam food videos, I have a playlist for that! kzread.info/head/PLrNbogOIGSGiV9i6Kc6Jm7WsxQRrcGz1Q

We have Keukenhof tickets in the afternoon on King’s Day. Our hotel is on the edge of the area which will be blocked off. We have a rental car so we might try to park further away on Wed. I’m concerned about getting out & back to the city. Thoughts? Thanks for your great videos!

Exciting! I'm not sure what you are asking, but it's a national holiday so things may be closed or how different hours, so keep that in mind. I suggest you simply walk around. That's the fun part ☺️ Here's my blog post on the day: www.awanderlustforlife.com/best-kings-day-amsterdam/

@@aWanderlustForLife You answered it when you said to walk around. Husband has a bad back but we will power through. I've watched youtube videos of that day and people seemed to be walking around. We get 200,000 people downtown Nashville TN on July 4, which is where we are from. We are used to that holiday crush. Thank you so much .

Gotcha! Well then, From the Movenpick, you can tack the tram 26 to Amsterdam Centraal if it's running (I'm fairly certain it has to. Then take the metro 52 from there to the Rokin stop. That'll get you to a good area to start wandering around with the least amount of walking 😉
