There are also English fan translations (on CD romance) what didn't released in west at they times like star ocean blue sphere, sakura wars GB, survivalkids 2, grandia parallel trippers are good ones

So glad Magi Nation got a shout out. Such beautiful art, creative writing, and a great battle system. I remember my mind being blown back in the day that the encounters weren’t random.

Your videos are well done. I just miss a "sticky" name of the game somewhere on the screen. I a lot of people just glance the videos doing other stuff. Is relaly helpfull to see the name of the game you are showing without rewinding...

I spent so much time playing Magination, loved the card game and the gbc game.

Just bought an Everdrive GB x5. Excited to play some of these games without having to carry around a bunch of cartridges. Haven't finished watching this video yet but HP CoS is a great GBC RPG, so I recommend that.

Awesome list! gbc Lufia never gets any love but it had such a unique and cool battle system. Crystalis is an all time favorite but the gbc port was kinda a bummer of a downgrade compared to the original.

My favorite thing about Magi Nation is the environments, the world, and the story. Just watch out for the soft lock!

Needs to have a top translated games for gb/gbc, I recommend “For The Frog The Bell Tolls” for the gameboy, lots of laugh while playing this one and “Last Bible 2” for gbc, just started playing this recently.

Might as well add it here: Survival Kids (mentioned in this video) has a Japan-only sequel, also on GBC, and luckily there exists a good fan translation patch for it. (The Japanese release was 'Survival Kids 2: Dasshutsu! Futago Shima' if you want to look it up)

I came here just to see if you were smart enough to add Dragon Warrior 3... Didn't disappoint and saved the best for last :) The game was absolutely massive and had a very open world feeling to it you could just get lost in. For a game in the era it was made, cannot be beat in that regard.

Man and you put in Magi Nation, that game was straight up PSYCHEDELIC. Besides the Gold Glitch that was easily done, it was a super solid game.

I cannot believe you left out Harry potter and the chamber of secrets.

The Harry Potter RPGs are not that good. They're surprisingly good for a movie game, but really bad compared to any typical RPG.

Aside from the well done ports (demakes) of the SFC releases of Dragon Quest 1-3, the gem on this is Revelations, best known for being part of the Shin Megami Tensei line of games, same format, same challenge, just not the modern era stuff many went to, it's more an older era style thing, even had a sequel we didn't get both in Japan under the name Last Bible (1 and 2.)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a solid RPG adaptation of the book that improves on its predecessor in every way. It was the last GBC game released in North America, and a good way to go out.

I grew up initially Pokemon yellow but I was eventually disappointed with my inability to complete the game with friends or other versions. So my true favorite GBC rpg would become Dragon Warrior Monsters.

I own survival pits/crystal, and dragon warrior 2. They were all amazing amazing games. I still play dragon warrior 2 Tara’s Journey on rare occasions.

Dragon Warrior games for GBC are quite possibly the best versions of these titles if you don't want to play a mobile port or a switch version with ugly spritework. Additionally the third game actually has the bonus dungeon and casino minigames that were cut out from re-releases.

Yes, there's a better (fan-translated) version of this game on the Game Gear. It's written better and has a more coherent story. Last Bible had quite a few Japan-only entries from what I recall, all of them are playable in English at this point, one way or another.

Dragon warrior 3 is a huge game. Has to be the best here. Even now than dw monsters 2 which is already huge and a ton of fun. I mean breeding different kinds of monsters. Really!? Brilliant.

Would love to play an RPG on GBC, but why are they all having this cute anime style which ruins the impression at least for myself? It's possible to do it different, but the exceptions are rare (e.g. Towers - Lord Baniff's Deceit or Warlocked which is the best Warcraft Style game on the platform)

dragon quest/warrior did the whole pokemon thing way before pokemon even existed. DQ monsters isnt like pokemon. pokemon is like DQ monsters.

When he mentioned DQ1&2 (which imo isnt that great) but didnt say DQ3, i was furious lol! good thing he mentioned it as #1, its prob the best RPG available for the GB. (Also Pokemon Yellow is easily better than DQ1&2 by leaps and bounds. idk why it wasnt on this list) Also FInal Fantasy Legend 3 is decent. Id also put it above DQ1&2. Id also put legends 1 and 2 above DQ1&2, despite being really mid games at best.
