AHHHHHH SHUT UP!

Fluttershy is right when individuals do have trouble keeping to lessons as they grow. It's in our nature to slip and fall back into old habits. It's not like we can change after one time. It's a hard trek to keep to that new mindset and even after going for years good, we could still slip up. I think people just don't want to recognize mistakes, to think that they should know better, so when they see the realism in Fluttershy regressing at times, they are slapping away the reality of their own mistakes when trying to do better.

@@phantomdragon3893 I'm an introvert as well, and have Asperger's. I know how it is; it is hard. I just see that people like to see once we accomplish something once we should never struggle again, which isn't true. Hence, when they see it in fiction, they complain when it is realistically done.

Listening to you talk about Rarity made me realize that you probably cried a lot while watching Fruits Basket and that made me a little sad. Josh, give Ari more hugs.

Best line: "But best pony is second-favorite pony, go figure." That line, for SOME reason, got me cracking up more than anything else here. Maybe because the "must protect" line preceded it and buttered me up for it, IDK!

As a person with adhd who had a very late Dignosos I’ve always identified with scootlo having trouble understanding why she can’t fly. Or that fear of never being able to do certain things or the idea that she’s not “trying hard enough” Idk I may be projecting a little bit but honestly scootlo is the poster child for all types of differences

I sympathize with Ari on the concepts of introversion, social troubles, and general shyness. Great video looking forward to the next video. I almost thought that the base was abandoned.

The Fiery Secretary did a fantastic job in her 10 favorite ponies. Maud Pie is truly an amazing side character in all episodes she's been part of.

(Sniff) Of course I’m crying, why wouldn’t I be?! Aramau just delivered the rawest and most sincere characterizations to my favorite/spirit pony Fluttershy.

I feel like Shy really grew on a lot of people. She was initially my least favorite (possibly because she WAS kind of one-note in the early seasons) but she climbed a long, long way up that list by the end.

As a person who is a Fluttershy stan I’m in the same boat when it comes to how you feel about Fluttershy. Out of all the people in my group of friends I am the most introverted and too afraid of a lot of stuff in the world to really wanna go out anywhere due to my crippling anxiety, I related to Fluttershy a lot in the Halloween episode where she refuses to do a lot of activities because of what could happen and even upsetting people around her.

I especially relate to her in the nightmare night episode. Ever since I was younger. My friends wanted me to celebrate halloween. But here's the thing I don't! And I hated what Voice of reason said in the review with Josh scorcher! Sometimes you just have to suck it up! Yeah screw him for that! I'm terrified of Halloween! People like it because it's based off gore and death! Or that's what people think it should be! And I'm so glad Fluttershy didn't end up celebrating with them because guess what? You can't force someone to like something they hate! And if you do! Your being a bad friend! Seriously I already loved Fluttershy! But her hating Nightmare Night just like I hate Halloween made me love her permanently!

I expected Yona to be on the list. Since Ari is a Yona fangirl at heart.

A Dog and Pony Show was my first FiM episode. I had just gotten home from work and was channel surfing looking for something mindless to watch when I saw MLP in the listings. Thought it was the 80's show so figured I'd indulge some nostalgia. Got hooked, Rarity became my Insta-fav and that hasn't changed.

LOL Silverquill can hear about luna anywhere. And I want to see some fan club episodes now. Seeing reviewers debating what makes them like certain characters and how what they like can vary could be fun.

Maud is definitely one of my faves .

When that #1 pony reveal came onscreen, I yelled and cheered so loud that I think my friend on the other side of the house heard me.

Man Aramau I really like you. I really relate to you, now I haven’t gone through any sort of trauma, but I definitely relate to introversion, anger issues, and just feeling out of place compared to others around. And you’re really funny and lovable. I hope you we see more videos with you and hear from you more.

I think Applejack is my favourite for the same reason Fluttershy is yours. She's what I aspire to be. She's dependable and confident. She's well liked but not arrogant like Dash. She's perfectly content with what she has. I love Applejack. Thanks for your list ^_^

Initially, I loved Rarity. Then - don't quite remember the moment - I just started asking myself why did I even like her. A lot of time has passed, and I realise that if initially I liked her as a comic relief character, today I love her because I do understand her and have faults similar to hers. That's why I started to dislike Rarity - I didn't like her faults, MY faults. I had to rethink my whole formula of "helping people" because of her and friends around me. And it was good. And healthy. And I got to understand what's "toxic" or "self-destructive." And somehow, but ten years after, Rarity ends up on my own #1 favorite pony. They all helped. But Rarity did especially. Thanks MLP.

I seem to be one of the few who relates to Twilight. I also have OCD, a real tendency to overthink things and make them appear worse than they are and an overly rational and somewhat aggressively domineering personality. I was slightly bullied but had so much mental fortitude and was such a teacher's pet that it never really amounted to much.

I feel you Ari I’m the odd duck in my family while my sibling was the one my family focused more on. I’m an introvert in a family of extroverts my only relative that I can bond with is my aunt.

@@blakdeth Well, it's a little tricky because I've only seen some episodes of the show and some of the Equestria Girls movies, but if I had to choose from them based on personality and quirks that I could relate to alone, it would be these ten: 10) Sonata Dusk. She's the better version of our Muffin Mare in my opinion because we got more personality from her in one movie than we did with Derpy in nine seasons. Sonata's the lovable airhead that I understand because even I've had moments when I was a little airheaded and clueless, something my parents called a "blonde moment", even if I'm a brunette IRL. 9) Applejack. I relate to her quite a bit because I come from a large family myself and I have a younger sister who looks up to me. And yeah, I've had my own Applejack fibs that spiralled out of control, but some of them were for the right reasons like wanting to keep my loyalty to a friend. Speaking of which... 8) Rainbow Dash. Yeah, I'm not as egotistical as her, but I do carry the loyalty factor. I have had to keep so many secrets in my life that were necessary to keep because I didn't want them to be in trouble. And some of the secrets I understood because I went through the same problems as they did. 7) Yona, because she's not afraid to speak her feelings much like me. And she's a tough little yak for her age, both physically and mentally, something I wish I was like. 6) Silver Stream. I am pretty bubbly myself and Silver Stream shows the right amount of bubbliness while also showing that she has her own fallibilities as well, like her fear of the Storm King. That is extremely relatable because I'm scared of getting needles poked into me for blood tests and injections, but like the Storm King, being afraid of needles is perfectly rational, and considering what the hippogriffs had to go through, I can't blame them. 5) Princess Twilight: I know there's two Twilights, but I'm counting the Princess here. I understand her obsession with perfection as I'm usually obsessed with making sure I do good with my cooking or baking and I have to do it all how I'm told to or by the book and all that jazz. It gets me more anxious and panicked in the kitchen to where my dad has to calm me down and my parents have to help where needed. 4) Sunburst. He's quirky, fun, and definitely one of my more favorite developed male characters next to Spike. I wear glasses myself and I love reading like he does, so how could I not put him up here? And his design won me over the first time I saw him, not gonna lie. 3) Fluttershy. I admit that I do have mental problems as I have been diagnosed with anxiety, autism, sleeping problems, and slight depression, and Fluttershy is the embodiment of anxiety to the point where I just wanna hug the poor filly and comfort her so closely. 2) Sunset Shimmer. I have been through an aggressive phase in my life that I seriously regretted. Part of that was from an ex-boyfriend's influence on me at the time, but another part was me trying to defend myself for sticking out like a sore thumb. And when I moved from South Dakota to Michigan around my 11th birthday, I stuck out big time as the newbie. 1) Princess Luna. She's definitely one of the most relatable characters for me because again, I've been seen as the outcast and my anxiety and depression together don't really help that fact. I'm a girl who loves the things that boys are into, I'm bisexual, I'm autistic. There are still quite a lot of things that make me feel alone sometimes and having to deal with my mental battles, and I believe Luna is almost me as a pony. That's why she ties with Twilight as my favorite pony princess. Honorable mentions would be Derpy because again, derp moments, Moondancer because I faced moving away from a friend much like her when Twilight left in the beginning episode, Maud because I have some dry humor moments and some monotonous moments, Rarity because of my generosity and compassion for others, and Princess Celestia because I do have maternal instincts and the want to care for others, especially if I have my own children one day.

I didn't offer my reasons in my list, but some of them are because i enjoy their screentime, some are because i like the way they were written, and some are just because i really like their designs. It's neat how the criteria for choosing favorites is as subjective as the choices themselves.

I’ll always love Luna more, mostly for the same reason I relate to her a lot more! I don’t hate the other princesses I still love them, I just find Luna being my favorite out of them all

When you spoke of Luna, I immediately thought: I have felt that too Also, Fluttershy at number one? WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!

Thank you. Thank YOU! Thank you so much for pointing out that backsliding is a thing! Everyone criticizes Fluttershy for "hitting the reset button after every lesson" until season 5, but none of them except maybe DRWolf ever addressed the fact that is a thing that people actually do! I do it, my Dad does it, my girlfriend does it, everyone with any form of mental illness has or will do it at some point! Why? Because as Lily Orchard once said in one of her videos, "misery is comfortable". Or to be more precise, familiarity is comfortable. Established habits and behavior patterns are hard as h*yay* to break even when you know they are bad or hurting you. Sometimes, you need to learn the same lesson multiple times in order to succeed in applying it. Especially when you are an adult and the negative behavior pattern is ENTRENCHED like Fluttershy's was! Seriously, what Fluttershy went through to become able to assert herself was the equivalent of trying to climb out of a muddy pit during a rain storm. Also, since I'm on the subject, I'd like to point out that if you pay attention to the episodes, you will notice that nearly every episode was a different variation of the lesson of assertiveness and confidence. Dragon Shy = It is possible to overcome your fears. Hurricane Fluttershy = You can break through the psychological wall holding you back. Putting Your Hoof Down = Be assertive, but don't be a jerk about it. Fili Vanili = Stage fright is real, but you can fight past it. And those are just the ones off the top of my head. Fluttershy is my favorite pony because she is proof that it is completely possible for someone to overcome their hang-ups if they just keep trying and have a good support system.

Fluttershy at #1, I approve. Also Luna over Celestia? Shocker considering Josh's pick for best princess and possibly best pony (or is that Rarity?)

You are not alone, Aramau; Fluttershy is my favorite pony too, and you managed to beautifully capture what makes her so relatable to me, even down to the contrast of Fluttershy's timidness to anger issues (though, for me, it might be more anxiety than anger; it's hard to tell). Either way, this list was wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
