Holding someone against their will is a crime, it is kidnapping. If the crew of that ship want to leave, you have to let them leave, or you are kidnapping by law. Everyone is expendable, if their job is essential, you can get someone else. They are not in the middle of the ocean or international waters. Forced labor is probably illegal too in this country. If that crew neutralizes their kidnappers, laws apply then? You gonna charge them with a crime ? You can't be charged with kidnapping as long as you talk your victim onto a boat or ship and then refuse to let them go ? What if they jump overboard and swim away ? gonna drag them back, and force them to work at gun point ?
