How much indian customs duty on riding gear?

Under 50k personal use item no declaration and can go through green channel even with box/tags intact. If total price goes beyond 50k then 40-48% duty pay on additional amount means suppose you bought helmet(35k)+jacket(25k) which is 60k then 60-50=10k on which you need to give duty amount. This is as per official documentation of import duty. Rest you "can" hand carry items(no box/tags) though green channel and if asked can try explaining this as personal use but in this case officer will have full right to put penalty if he want which can vary depending on the amount of items you are carrying. So if you are doing this, you need good confidence level to talk to officer.

Sorry to say but this is not half price than Indian. In India, we get touring riding jacket Rynox at 12,700 and modular helmets starting 5000. I just bought riding gears recently from Chandigarh.

Bro you're comparing bajaj with Triumph....or maruti with bmw It's simple logic....these are expensive brands ...tell me the prices of them in India. Dnt compare them because they are premium products at the cost of Indian brands. I am nt saying our brands are bad....its about premium choices of customer... nothing wrong in that And then read your comment.

@@WanderSaneTV yeah it could be that they are premium but most of us would not go for this premium range I feel. They could be more superior than what we get in India. Not a major difference in price plus u buy air tickets so it’s expensive overall. Better buy from India only.
