I'm grateful that I have many of the albums Bernie has applied his craft. He's more than a difference maker. The proof is in the playback. Very nice interview Chad!
A fine interview, for those of us who have worked in recording studios for decades Bernie is always insightful. Thank you
this is a golden interview Chad, I’m so grateful to have this.
Bernie is always teaching, I would love to spend time at his side as mastering apprentice. Even having done this for over 20 years, he's still inspiring me to make better masters.
What a huge privilege to hear a master giving insight into his craft. Amongst the best footage I've seen here all year. a big thanks - keep 'em coming!!
Thanks for posting this informative & fun interview. I'm a big Bernie fan.
That was an hour well spent. Thanks guys, for all you've done and continue to do.
Great talk, thanks for putting it online!
Appreciate ANY time with Bernie!!! Thank You!!!!!!!!!
Terrific video. Thanks to Chad and the AS team for putting out great interviews and content for the audio community to enjoy.
Great video! Had to watch this again! Thank you for a awesome video
cleaned and played a G+ OG copy of thriller recently. still sounds superb with lots of punch. thanks bernie
Awesome interview. Thanks to both of you, excellent.
What a truly wonderful interview. Thanks so much.
Wow. This is one of the best interviews of Bernie I have seen on you tube! Way to short! I hope you guys do more with Bernie and perhaps a follow up. This guy is a legend! Thank you Chad!
Awesome video! Bernie and Chad you guys are awesome! Thank you so much! Awesome history, knowledge
wow this has been one of my favorite AS videos, thanks Chad and thanks Bernie.
Another interesting interview with the great Bernie Grundman. I could listen to this man talk for hours. I have many albums Bernie mastered including some of the Classic Records remasters of the Blue Note jazz titles, Micheal Jackson Thriller original vinyl,cd and first CD remaster. Anyways Bernie always does a great job in mastering an album.
Loved this casual interview. Bernie is a master!
Two gods of the vinyl world...yes please ! Really enjoyed this chat. Thanks so much for posting :)
I could listen to Bernie and you for hours. He is a true innovator, and did some fascinating stuff for the record industry. Once again well done Chad. More of these type of videos, please! I love it when Chad gives us these hints on possible upcoming releases. Would be great if the next UHQR is the first Doors LP and Bernie does the mastering. One can only hope.

That indeed would be great, but since AP did reissue their debut from Safety Tape, I'd really question how they can do something on par with other albums in terms of sound and quality. Probably unpopular opinion (because most of AP reviewers I've seen praise it for analog without a direct comparison to other audiophile versions, namely MoFi or DCC), but I favor MoFi far ahead of AP version. If Bruce discovered some different master tape or something else - then we're in for a special treat I guess :)

I remember reading his name on many albums over decades. Great to see he's still vital.
The time and caring of this man. I'm sure I've enjoyed more of his efforts than I can remember.
What a great discussion guys, thank you both for this fascinating video!
Really enjoyed this interview with Bernie Grundman. He is definitely a master at his craft.
Love these videos, thanks for sharing! I have 35 great albums mastered by Bernie Grundman.
I`ve have learned so much about mastering over the last 6 months because of Chad and Bernie. Thank you so much for the quality and " sound" education. You guys are # 1 in my books.
What a great interview with Bernie who’s artistry in the studio as a mastering engineer makes him a star in his own right. Such an insightful interview with Bernie’s casual and modest candour when talking about his experiences work with the most prestigious and biggest musical talent of the 20th century. What a great, passionate and modest human being.
I’m glad I’m at the age where we all looked and read the liner notes. This series is great Chad and it’s great to hear from these masters. Producers would be a great series too. Al Kooper, Jimmy Johnson, etc Tom Dowd had great stories in his documentary. Too bad he’s not with us anymore
Great insight from a Master. Love watching this thanks to Chad documenting the history is so important!!!! Thanks Chad!!!

That Waylon Jennings - Don’t Think Twice LP is one of the best sounding records you will ever hear, perfection.
Love people like Bernie. Thanks Chad for all you do in the world of quality vinyl productions
Awesome. Bernie Grundman is a legend. Mastering engineers are only now beginning to get the recognition they deserve. People are looking for names like Bernie and Chris Bellman, Bob Ludwig, George “Porky” Peckham, Kevin Gray, Steve Hoffman and Ryan K Smith when buying albums. As they should.
i would love to see more of these videos and listen to bernie and chad love it
I love these videos. Thank you, Chad. As anyone can wish, it would be mine to have an Analogue Productions Allman Bros. at the Fillmore East or Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here. Thank you for your passion and tenacity.
Entertaining interview. How about more R&B audiophile releases, Chad? The world doesn't need another remaster of Miles Davis's Kind Of Blue.

😂😂🎉. Aint that true!
Was just listening to Lionel Richie’s Can’t Slow Down LP last night. Marvelling at the excellent production quality. Not a special pressing or a remaster. Just an old regular copy. Its an audiophile sleeper for sure.
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks Chad for a great interview with the magician, Bernie. Best thing I’ve listened to in a long time. Thumbs up!
Great interview guys, I love the Analogue Productions 45 series and uhqr, the detail is amazing. Looking forward to seeing what's next, the who albums 45rpm. Uhqr of the doors now that would be a big release.

Breakfast in America is good but Crime of The Century recorded years earlier is a masterpiece!!! Right up there with Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. The trumpet on the A&M label was for Herb Alpert who played trumpet and started A&M records.
Fabulous video
Bernie's a freakn treasure ❤️
Chad - Purple Rain ! Please please consider giving this the audiophile treatment !
Amazing! 🔥🔥🔥
Purple Rain, an album that blew me away. Minneapolis power! Bernie Grundman, Bruce Swedien, Prince, Terry Lewis, Jimmy Jam....
Great video
Great!!! Just GREAT!!!
So interesting 😊
The original AM Carpenters sound so good they are my system reference LPs !
Hey Man Great Video
Outstanding informative video the best I have ever heard. I have been collecting since 1970 thanks. People like you both make this vinyl resurgence. I really appreciate the job you do for vinyl.
Fascinating. Bernie's name on a project means quality.

@@SamuelRivera_DAMN it's definitely worth the wait. It was the first Living Stereo I purchased a few years ago. Unfortunately it also drained my wallet because it hooked me on the series 😉
Take a shot of whiskey every time Bernie says "dithering!" ;p-)
The original Contemporary recordings are simply amazing, engineered by the great Roy DuNann. They truly sound like you have the band right in your listening room. Very little--if any---electronic processing, and the sound is true, simple and astounding. The Way Out West LP is a true audiophile demo recording.
Looooove bernie grundman. Greatest mastering engineer.
Chad how about doing interviews at all the recording studios and document their history. That would be great before they disappear!!!!!
I have to hear Bernie's spin of the Casino Royale Lp.
22:35 UHQR Doors? Nice
More Bernie!
Make Part 2.

So when are you folks going to do Jefferson Airplane Surrealastic Pillow mono
I bought Aja the summer it came out when I was 10. I knew nothing of high fidelity, but over time, I started being able to tell the difference. No disrespect to Foreigner, but their second & third albums became my template for what a record should *not* sound like (vocals mixed way too loud). 40+ years later, Aja is still a cornerstone of my collection.

Mutt and Mick and Lou (at least based on my 1st CD compilation) cleaned things up for their quasi greatest hits CD and I would have no interest in comparing with old Atlantic LP versions. After picking up Aja on then old 77 version on tape and after listening to the old CD version of their early 90's MCA GH made me chase after the LP of Aja and Don's Nightfly.
Digital might be a bad word here, unfortunately I don't have a audiophile turntable. Where can I get the best sounding digital versions of the 'top picks' mentioned here? Do I look at HD tracks, Qobuz- how would I know which is the best audiophile quality to go for? Thanks.
There go two music lovers!
it s quite funny to see that mr bernie grundman has worked with other controller geniuses with frank zappa. and her family… bernie must have a lot of work and that s great ..
The best way to hear jimi Hendrix is stereo! He embraced stereo from the start, and used it to the fullest! The Beatles are the opposite, the best way to hear them is mono! They did not embrace stereo, they thought it was a gimmick, so they took more time with the mono mix!

What is going on with your UH QR kind of blue? I received one of the first 6000 least. I am now waiting on my third replacement. What are those high frequency glitches in the pressing? Nobody seems to wanna talk about them.

Im not surprised QRP isn’t eager to bake this issue into its UHQR mythology. They just want to fix it as quick as possible and move on. You’re surprised?

Not too quick,on third week waiting for replacement.
Im most curious to see what AP can do with Steely Dan's Katy Lie. The DBX company practically ruined the album and maybe the term The Royal Scam (title of their following album) was about DBX who knows. My favs are The Royal Scam, Pretzel Logic and Aja
I just hope that, master magician Mr Bernie Grundman has an apprentice and that he will pass on the magic.
Is “ Layla” - unsalvageable?? Every release still sounds like listening with cotton in my ears.
Chad, try and do a interview with Bob Ludwing-- his work before he went 100% digital is beyond Amazing-- plus he is a very nice gentleman.. we would even purchase a rap/hip hop LP, if he mastered it-well not quite that far--LOL

Some of the worst, most muffled sound I’ve yet heard, for shame…given the historical relevance.
