Ghost song and Afterimage look so beautiful! Definitely my favorites out of the many good games listed here ^^

The Knight Witch seems interesting. The metroidvania I've enjoyed more than any other lately was Yoku's Island Express, and it's given me a hankering for more metroidvania's that do more/something different... man I wish there was a sequel to Yoku...

I LOVE Yoku's Island Express! I completely agree about a sequel, I would love a sequel to that game! The Knight Witch definitely feels like it's trying to do something a bit different with the metroidvania formula so I'm super excited to check that out. While I don't think the game does much different, I loved Islets for having a different setting, vibe, and overall approach and the developer's previous game, Sheepo is cool because it's a combat-free metroidvania. I'm totally with you, I would like to see more metroidvania games go more outside the box in some ways like Yoku's Island Express did.

Definitely looking forward to 9 Years of Shadows the most. I'm a sucker for pixel graphics, halberds, and anything centered around the 4 elements, so it checks a lot of boxes. My buddy even got to design an enemy via kickstarter backing, so I'm extra excited to see it. It's probably my current 2nd most anticipated game behind GoW Ragnarok.

Yeah 9 Years of Shadows is high up there for me on my most anticipated games for sure. That's awesome that your buddy got to design an enemy! I definitely want to see how that enemy turned out when the game's out. Ragnarok looks great too. I liked what I saw during the recent State of Play and that themed controller looks pretty sweet as well.

I'm waiting for Ghost Song in heartbeat! Nice video btw!

I thought I was on top of all the hot new Metroidvanias coming down the tube. Moonscars, Ghost Song, The Last Faith, Afterimage, the Knight Witch, and 9 Years of Shadows have been on my wishlist for ages. But stuff like Slavania and Elderand really impressed me. I'll add them to the list, too.

It's always nice to see these videos helping people discover some games that might not have previously been on their radar. It's a great time to be a fan of the genre and I'm looking forward to the metroidvania games slated for next year too. I'll highlight those in a video later this year but in the meantime hopefully I'll be able to review some of these as well. Of all those that have been on your whishlist for ages, which one are you most looking forward to?

Oh man. Looks like all kinds of goodies!! Astroknight looking a lot like Gato Roboto!! I love Gato Roboto. The darkness of some of the others pull my eye as well. Never heard of After Image, but my interest is piqued. Awesome video man!

Thanks! Definitely thought of Gato Roboto as well when I first saw Astronite too, great game. As for Afterimage, hopefully we'll get a more solid release date very soon!

I'm glad I have a Steam Deck because some of these games take awhile to drop for the Switch (my MV console of choice) and I'm not the most patient when it comes to software I'm looking forward to playing.

Steam Deck + Switch is an incredible gaming combo. With Valve increasing production on the Steam Deck I'm getting more comments from people who have one and it's definitely nudging me closer into ordering one myself lol.

I'm always happy to see Afterimage included on these lists since I supported the Kickstarter

@@YourFriendJacob imo SkillUp's weekly news videos have shaving thumbnails. Being able to instantly know which video it is just from a thumbnail style is great. Just my two cents

@@Woupsme I've been inspired to make a different thumbnail for this so you may see this change sooner or later haha. I appreciate the feedback. Thumbnails are really hard to nail and there are so many directions you can take it so this can help me focus which way to go with it.

I am really looking forward for Ghost Songs and most others featured here! / While playing Moonscars I had problems telling the characters from the background or even from floor debris. Here they had to zoom in in order to understand what was going on during the game! Just returned it!

Gato Roboto was immediately what I thought of when I saw Astronite as well! I love 1-bit monochromatic games like this. Minit is another great example although from a different genre.

Last faith is the one I'm waiting the most. It's been like 2/3 years I guess. Those dragons gave me a Ultimate blue eyes white dragons from yugioh vibes, but everything else in that just scream "2d bloodborne"

Yea The Knight Witch looks awesome! It took me by surprise when it was first announced but in looking at it more the dev team has worked on Moonlighter, Rime, and Plants vs Zombies so I'm excited to see how that experience translates to this game.

Same here! Right now my favorite mv of the year is Islets but I could see that changing when 9 Years of Shadows is out. The game looks so good!

I would argue that after watching all these trailers several times Afterimage looks just as good from a visual and combat standpoint ad 9YOS

We still don't know about Gestalt Steam and Cinder Or Bushiden And apparently Saviour is coming in October although I'm not sure it's been confirmed

Yea I doubt we'll see Gestalt or Bushiden this year but that would be great if I'm wrong about that haha. I'm waiting on confirmation for Savior but an October release would be awesome. I like the way that game is approaching combat.

I didn't even realize that still hasn't released for PS4 yet. That's wild. I did see an article last year regarding the publisher and it appears as though that publisher is not a huge fan of playstation although that may have changed since that article. A few days ago they announced a more recent game they published, The Legend of Tian Ding, is coming to PS4 this month. Pretty bizarre that Vigil still isn't on there as well.

I don't understand how we don't have a release date yet for The Last Faith specially since it's suppose to be coming out this YEAR!...RIGHT!.. or were they lying the entire time knowing it wan't gonna make 2022. 🤔 👀

I highly doubt they were lying. Delays happen, gamedev is hard, one unexpected bug or outside issue can massively affect the intended timeline for a development cycle. It's a small team working on this as well. Most larger/AAA games have been hit with delays, it's only natural for indies to be affected by them as well. Hopefully we'll get a more concrete release date from The Last Faith soon.

Last faith is like Blasphemous 1.5 Seriously its so similar in animations and menus its like almost plagiarism.

The same games in every review, I found a dozen cool games on different sites, but all post only what post.

I feature different games in all my videos. While some may be featured before due to delays and whatnot, I always make sure to feature games I haven't previously featured. Do other channels talk about similar games? Probably. Maybe we have some similar interests. Some games stand out from the rest. I do the best I can to highlight as many games as possible.

What’s with the weird inflection in the voice? Sounds like a bot.
