Thanks for continuing to call out Schwab for their lack of a sweep. As a long time customer, I remember when they had one. My cash is at Schwab, in SNSXX and SWVXX, depending on whether it’s tax sheltered, and at Fidelity, in SPAXX. I believe my investments will be slowly migrating to Fidelity…

Given the number of people Fidelity has as a captive customer base from their employer-sponsored retirement offerings, they don't need to try as hard to get/retain customers. They likely get a lot of additional investment from familiarity and convenience.

I recently discovered your channel and am very appreciative of your high quality videos! You always start with an outline, use visual aids or charts. Suggested topics: (1) how to move/sweep fund from Schwab to Vanguard; (2) compare which banks have global presence/access to funds deposited in the U.S. (e.g. SS benefits) because many people in my network are retiring in Asia.

Fidelity told me that I can transfer my existing Traditional IRA Schwab T-bill account directly to a Fidelity Traditional IRA T-bill account without waiting for the maturity date. I like the Fidelity platform of having a money market core account (which Schwab does not have). Should I trust Fidelity to be able to transfer the existing Schwab T-bill account to Fidelity without messing up the maturity date? Fidelity said it is done all the time with no problem. I would like to do this ASAP (before the maturity date) to make things easier for me, as long as there is no problem doing this.

I am on Fidelity. I only keep very small amounts or very temporary amounts in my cores (regular and retirement), though what they are paying is not bad. I have a separate "bank sweep" account I don't trade from because it is my emergency fund. IOW I consider it a savings account. The interest is middling as you showed, but it's a lot higher than my local bank where I have my checking. TBH, I am not sure if the sweep "savings" account is genuinely less risky than if I just parked the same money in the higher-paying core of my Individual trading account, but that is the assumption I went on.

FWIW, I moved my HSA from a local bank paying virtually no interest; to Fidelity with a core position of FDRXX (best core position I could find currently paying 5% interest); some still in SPRXX (currently paying 5.06% interest) from when the spread between it and FDRXX was greater and dollar cost average every 1-3 months when the markets are down into one of Fidelity's zero cost index funds (I chose FZROX (zero fee Total Market Index), though I think their zero fee S&P500 equivalent fund would be OK too. Eventually my plan is to have it all in FZROX, since like you, I don't plan to touch it for 5 or so (more) years. YMMV. I am not a financial expert (don't even play one on TV) and this is not advice. Invest at your own risk, etc... BTW, based on this video and Vanguard paying about 5.3% on VMFXX; I opened up an account there for the improved interest. However, their frustrating website & lack of timely customer service, (and tone deaf policies on restricting outside accounts/the movement of my own money for 31 days makes me wish I had not opened a Vanguard account. Just do a google search for issues with Vanguard - I wish I had done that before I tried to get a percentage point or less more in interest - it isn't worth the hassles and worry of dealing with Vanguard, trust me! OTOH, I love Fidelity and have never had an issue, including immediate access to my funds within 24 hours of initiating a transfer to an (apparently unlimited number of) outside account(s).

It has check writing, ATM, etc. Features that are free. I’m going to link this account to one of the Fidelity MMA's you mentioned in your video to park short-term money that will be invested in treasuries etc.

That will only work if the account in Vanguard is > 1 year old. Otherwise, the transfer can go only to the originating account. Or you must call Vanguard and expect to complete that transaction in about 1 hour. The BS with Vanguard is off the charts.

Don't want to use this particular tax free account for equities with the current market. Interested to hear what some of you think are some beneficial positions to take. We have been purchasing 30-day t-bills for some time now with good results out of our Fidelity brokerage account. Thanks in advance

I'm in CA and did what you're describing, less the moving out of state. Until recently I've only considered FDIC insured HYSAs, but concern is that their yields will start dropping when the Fed changes gears on interest rates. Lots of speculation but no one knows for sure when that will be. Given that, I'm investigating/considering T-bill ladders, as well as allocating a larger portion into the market given my expected time frame of 2-3yrs before deciding to get back into the housing market. Curious to hear how you're thinking about it...

Anyone have a brokered CD at Schwab that matured last Friday, September 1st and still haven't see the principal posted to their Schwab cash account? Is this normal for a bank to keep the principal past the maturity date? Is this a liquidity problem with the bank or Schwab delaying the posting?
