That one wheeled biplane landing was impressive.

2:30 That guys got serious skill to put it down so well... fair play!
Three common reasons of these fails. 1. Lack of pilot skills. (stalls in low level flight) 2. Bad weather (strong wind) 3. Poor maintenance (gear retracted during soft landing etc.)
2:35... that was no "oops", that was a complete success! Amazing save!
I hope all the little pilots were ok.

Several of the "oops" moments were actually pretty skillful recoveries...
My first trainer was a Goldberg Eagle. It remained one of my favorite airplanes for ten years! It was beat up, but never wrecked. My Kaos .60 was wrecked once, snapping the right wing. Repaired, I stunted it for five years, going through three engines. My stable eventually grew to twenty six aircraft of many different designs. I sold it all when we moved and I retired. Now, all I fly is electrics of various designs I create myself. I really, really enjoyed my RC experience of 27 years so far.
was there some kind of troll going around loosening the landing gear of the aircraft?
Really landing gear reliability seems quite questionable after this video..
I remember this video. I use to watch it all the time when I was 5
The real champion is the camera man he didn't miss a beat....
Realizing the vast number of hours spent building these models made me cringe with every accident!
just because you can build a plane doesnt mean you can fly it

that Hawker Hurricane at the end was fantastic. what a beautiful plane.
Great video and great editing! Nice job all around. Keep it up!
some of these guys dont fly well enough for the planes they have..

Not every good builder is a good pilot. ;)

Flip that around and it will make sense the landing gear on theses planes are horrible

***** I've seen folks try to land 40 pound planes with a gravity-latch mechanism for their landing gear. Problem is they release it long before flaring so it awkwardly falls and fails to lock, causing partial retraction upon touching down.
love these videos. Reminds you that even the master's aren't perfect.
Wow - and these guys are the "TOP GUNS" of RC.
these guys need to change there wheels supplyer

True
some of these that were classified as 'oops' moments would be major sucesses in my book. Im usually just happy when i land. And is the plane at 3:40 scale? if so those engines must be massive....

Modeled after the Grumman F7F Tigercat. Can't wait for it to be added to War Thunder in the next patch too, will be fun.

SackKickingFatMan Yeah, it's one of my favorite American twin engines during that time period. And it was a naval aircraft, so it did carrier work too.
@SackKickingFatMan

wow fantastic info. thank you for that. its hard to imagine it doing carrier work because of its size.I guess size is relative to the size of the carrier though to haha
@Lofi.z34

SackKickingFatMan Yeah it's kind of a big plane for that. Or it looks. I think those big engines help get that power out. :D
Also the event at 0:54 isn't an 'oops', just an accurate recreation of the real event. Nice work.
that is the coolest collection of rc planes ive ever seen
Lose the replays. If I want to see it again, I know how to use a PC.
the majority of these are gear failures...i dont understand why these expensive rc planes have such cheap landing gears? they all seem to just crumble under a few lbs of weight
@MsSomeonenew
9 жыл бұрын
Eric Mahoney They are trying to make it accurate to the real planes, which at 1:5 scale means really really tiny nuts and bolts that do not hold for long. That is why most RC enthusiasts just go for static bulky single piece wheels.
Superb camera work. Enjoyed watching.
Some great footage there and great flying as well. Mike
I am builder (models and UL), RC pilot, PLG pilot, UL pilot. This video shows absolutely lame pilot skills, every single crash on this video is pilot error. And this put a bad look on RC models generaly. Common people can see nice scale and expensive toys in hands of irresponsible troublemakers with no knowledge of aerodynamics.

only the first one was a huge pilot error, the other ones seemed to be mechanical failiures
@wispr_official

the gear failing is not pilot error

Such hard landing can not withstand any landing gear...Try to hire a plane, land like this and tell the owner that it was a faulty landing gear. I wonder what rental says.
@Mi3k15

So the hellcat was a "hard landing"?
@JodianGaming
7 жыл бұрын
Armchair quarterbacking at it's finest... I happen to agree, a lot of these were mechanical failures. A lot of the gear failures happened after the landing, during deceleration. The grass looked too deep and the ground under it too rough. You can see in several of the videos the punishment the landing gears are taking after the plane is already on the ground. In addition, it's hard to have a hard landing (gear falling apart) during takeoff.
I'm impressed with the no gear/missing gear landings. Good saves!
if i spent all that money on one of these, i wouldnt even take it outside lol
Wheels are such a wonderful invention.
love that sea hurricane at the end it looks nice
lots of skilled pilots and top notch accessories I see...
WHEELS OUT CHALLENGE? LOL Good rc models...thank for the video
What is faster than a Hurricane? A Hurricane's free tyre. LOL I had my my share of Oops moments in my past RC modeler life.
Fantastic video!!!! and very beautiful scale models.!!! The first one was unusual an the last hurricane accident was "all the money" Congratulation to all the builders.
If you watch enough WW II footage you will see the real airplanes make those exact same landings. Great stuff, nice video.
@ 2:30 - successful partial gear landing - magnificent piloting skills !!!
ahahaha for little planes small bumps are like boulders in scale. love the detail :)
"3:00 PM clinic in the big tent: Building landing gear that won't collapse."
those are really beautiful RC planes!
I had an RC plane once... It was the most expensive short lived hobby I have ever had. But boy was if fun!
I don't know how I got here. But damn, I was entertained!
All i could think of was that country western song... "you picked a fine time to leave me LOOSE WHEEL"
I have a lot of respect for the people who build and fly these beautiful machines. I love watching these types of videos too, but don't understand the fascination with gratuitious replays. We pretty much got it the first time.
I wish people who invested the time to build these beautiful aircraft would spend an equal amount of time learning how to fly.
The slow motion replays where we can see the control responses or lack thereof are even more evidence that some people have no business flying these things
Looks like tons of wind out there. Excellent saves for the most part.
The ops moment at 1:40 is a authentic WWII landing from what i seen in history films of that plan lol
5:00 i love how the wheel keeps going in the spot where it was going to be if it was still connected to the plane
I feel so bad for these people but I still found myself laughing at how comical some of the crashes were..
Those guys are actually really good pilots.
This video taught me to make sure my landing gear is quite beefy.
Nicely said!
what do many of these planes have in common? they're tail draggers! lol
Some really beautiful planes here. Especially liking the Corsair @ 1:30. How cool would it be to wire up a little ejection seat? Haha it could launch out then a little "PoopaTroopa" style parachute could pop out, saving the day for the little pilots! Such a cool hobby, I hope to get into it some day.
@Impalamark64

Corsairs didn't have ejection seats. Maybe install one on the F-16.

***** I know that haha. I should have started a new paragraph, I was grouping two topics together. Yes a F-16 would be perfect!
the air tractor take-off was the best!
Excellent vid! Thanks
cool the slowmo, we can enjoy the moment !!!
Wow, these are some awesome looking RC planes. Hate seeing them get mashed up like that.
That Spitfire and German WW1 plane did a great landing... and with only one wheel!
That jet model is awesome.
You guys ever hear of loctite? Your landing gear will love you for it.
For the landing and the landing gearS you have a lot of to learn!
Nice save on the Hurricane.
loved the airbrakes on that f-16!
u just gained a new subscriber :D
Haters gonna hate. Slow motion replays can be extremely useful and entertaining.
No one ever checks there landing gear when doing maintenance, I learned first hand how important it can be to check your gear after a hard landing. Make sure you check your gear every time you go out just to be sure the will hold up every time.
Bin a while since I have seen this, tnxs very entertaining watching beautiful toy planes flown by amateurs!:-)
The trick is that the hurricane has a small hump behind the cockpit :P
My grand father was an wheel, He didn't transform into anything. But he did it with honor and dignity!
Lesson learned... I'm gonna go check the gear on my planes asap!
a few cases of pilot error, like the tip stall in the beginning, but most of them seemed to be fighting a crosswind when landing. That's a tough situation, and besides that there was a bunch of mechanical failures with retracts. In several cases they looked like pretty decent landings, just on weak gear....
@401JamesMr Correct. the rear landing gears on a tricycle gear configured aircraft (boeing 7XX, Airbus's, cessna 172, 182) are the main gears. On a tail dragger, such as the one that you were talking about in this vid, the main gears are located forward of the support tail wheel. When landing a tail dragger, you want to land on the mains first (the one's underneath the wings) not the tail first.
some gorgeous models .. that Fokker DR1 triplane took a hit - ouch!
@1:30 Pilot: "I... I can't check that the wheels are locked!!! Are they locked??? Dangit, I have to try!!!"
I so want to see scale fire/rescue responses. Some rigged with foam or dry chem(purple K). Even a snorkel or ladder raised.
@makenzie71 defo on my first go at flying a plane i found that a heavy plane was actualy easier to controll due to it not swinging in teh wind when you make slight adjustments
Damned impressive cross controls at 2:40. The others were mostly ground loops or gear failures. You should try it in a strong cross wind!
haha it would be funny to see RC Fire and Rescue chasing the planes down and then using foam on the plane lol.
@Gill1am if your talking about the F4F which is referred to as the wildcat, at 1:58, the lock for the right landing gear strut failed....
Ouch! So many landing gear failures... And a few planes simply not generating enough lift. But awesome job still, all the planes look fantastic!
@makenzie71 true + when you land at soft surfaces like grass in this video, the ground is too soft and the landing gear may get stuck a bit which may cause to break them.
No one will laugh at these unless they are enthusiasts like me.LOLZ
That Wildcat landing looks like he retracted the gear.
0:51 I like how the baggage doors flip open after it comes to rest :P 2:08 Hey- he DID finish on the runway after all ;) 5:10- LMAO! Funniest aircraft mishap on KZread. The tire keeps rolling like some kind of cartoon. Reminds me of the ambulance crash at the end of "Airplane!".
awesome video, but i just cant help thinking of thunderbids! lol
In this field I never would go flying.
i like how the wheel just rolled on past, it didnt need no airplane!
is it funny that the corsair at 1:37, that has happened so many times in real life that its not surprising that it would happen to an RC model.
sad moments for those planes/pilots, but awesome event! i don't fly RC planes (just planes) but this looks awesome, really nice models
One of the most unlucky airfields to fly your RC plane.
really beautiful planes :)
Most of these crashes are prefect scale representations of real life crashes. I feel for the pilots!
was this a competition to see who could make the best landing gear out of pipe cleaners and chewing gum?
time to muster the troops for a FOD walk. nice compilation.
Depends if you have fuel left, or enough altitude to accelerate and go for another take.
