It's amazing, how people in the USA obviously have so much difficulty with coordinating the day. Here in Europe hardly anyone has a paid coordinator. There's always someone among family or friends, that is good at such things. Just lay out the day and schedule enough transit time from place to place, and from highlight to highlight. Then appoint that person from your family/friends to make the calls. It's considered an honorary job here and where I'm from, it's called the 'ceremony master'. He/she is named on the invitation as the person to contact with any question before and at the wedding. Also the venue knows whom to address instead of the couple. We had an artist for the photos. They were So beautiful! She also made our wedding book. It was real cheap, but top quality. Perhaps we were lucky? My make-up was done by a friend, who happened to be a beautician. Didn't cost a thing, yet she did a wonderful job. Don't hesitate to use potential helpers. Why pay a fortune instead? Good advice about the gown and shoes! They MUST be comfortable. Don't ruin your day with pain! Also the eating and drinking is vital (literally).

    1. Get a wedding coordinator - gets hectic on the day 2. Dont cheap out on your wedding photographer. 3. Give your photographer enough time to take pictures. (I suggest cocktail hour for your guests before the reception) 4. Ask your wedding party to not drink before the ceremony. 5. Get a comfortable wedding dress and shoes. 6. Be kind to your vendors. *Cough* Karen. 7. Credit the vendors of their beautiful work. Leave a good review.

I love how much love you give to planners!!! Thank you! We’re such an overlooked part of the industry and you’re right, most people regret not having one!

Cavin, I genuinely love your videos. They are so incredibly informative. Photography is extremely important to me (it's genuinely the most expensive service we've hired for our wedding, so worth it though), and we are working on a small budget, so some of the tips you give are genuinely going to help us get the best results with our budget. Thank you for doing these videos. From the future Cherry's xx

Exactly, pre-pandemic the lady who used to run the theatre we signed had told us it wasn't necessary to have a coordinator. We were supposed to be the first wedding ever. Since we postponed, they had 2 other wedding and, the brides were mortified because they felt nothing was taken cared of. *The new women in charge is now requiring a coordinator and I'm so relieved.*

My venue lets us set up the day before the wedding and then go back a day or 2 later to pull back down. Our venue coordinator will have her staff setting up the things that can't be set up the days before like the cold water station, our ceremony and reception are in the same place and in summer (Australia summer). Everything will be done at the venue (it's a huge racecourse with a beautiful hills backdrop) and all sort of cute spots to do whatever photos we want done. What would you say to someone like myself that isn't huge on social media, doesn't post a lot or anything at all, how could I go about crediting my vendors? Like my photographers for instance?

It's really only a thing for social media like Facebook or Instagram where you're publicly sharing the photos that it's lovely and appreciated to credit :-)

Cavin Elizabeth Photography, ok so I might have to post a couple just to credit my vendors then. Thank you.

Wow, I’m loving this video! You’d think this advice is a no brainer, but some people just don’t get it. So many videos on KZread that give terrible advice that people listen to because they want to save money. These are the kind of people that demand high quality for the cost of next to nothing. This goes for advice on services to things to buy. All of these “luxury diy decor” stuff that looks like a dog’s chew toy! Regardless of the industry, service and many other things in life: QUALITY COSTS MORE, plain and simple. These are the kind of people that will rant in their videos how they invited so many people they couldn’t really afford, and invited hundreds of people BECAUSE they wanted the gifts, but didn’t care about things like quality catering, and even say how they had better food in select tables and the rest of the guests had something else. I really dislike selfish people like that, and would opt for giving them a nice lump of coal as the gift they deserve!😤

Yep. You can't get Chanel on a Walmart budget. There's nothing wrong with a Walmart budget, but with that there needs to be a realistic understanding of what it can get you. And the lower the guest count, the cheaper. It's a wedding detail that has the largest impact on budget!

I will not allow anyone in my wedding party to drink alcohol until dinner. Not just because of the photos, but so nobody gets rowdy or stupid or falls or forgets what they're supposed to be doing.
