No; the Union Jack's diagonal stripes, as you know, are not centred along the diagonal, they're to one side. The direction then ends up being clockwise or anticlockwise. If the flagpole is on the left of the flag, the direction is anticlockwise; and the reverse for if the pole is on the right. James' was the other way round. It's better to explain with a diagram. Also, thank you. It was drawn by my girlfriend.

An Aga is a big wood/oil burning iron fire/cooker. The manufacturer who makes them is called Aga. They're usually found in old British country houses and are used to heat water, the house and to cook food.
