Maybe their soil is lacking so when they use the tea they see a boost in growth, but you don't need to use tea.

Stephen, thanks again for a great channel, not good but I mean great. I particularly like your series on Testing Garden Assumptions. I use it often with my Garden club to debunk their wrongful assumptions and "tips from the internet". I try and tell the benefits of manure compost in my videos, as I grow my favorite tomatoes.

Enjoy the holidays too, Stephen! Your garden is already so rich in nutrients, it might just be hard to measure a difference. I think a good compost tea might improve a very poor soil but you might not have much room for improvement there. :D I definitely need some kind of compost over here. On our way to 2017!

It's been great following your videos throughout 2016, Stubbs. So thanks. One thing about compost that I've learned, is that it doesn't have to be fully composted before I use it. In the Fall, I dig trenches in my vegetable garden plot and dump loads of compost into them, no matter how far along it is. Then I cover the trenches back up with the garden soil, and by late Spring, when I'm ready to grow, the compost has worked itself into soil. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Stubbs. :)

You would not believe what I did to my poor foot today. Anyways I often use unfinished compost to grow my squash and trench compost like you said! it is an effective way to get the best bang for the buck when space is a limiting factor! Merry Christmas my friend!

I was very disappointed of the meager harvest of my first "tub" grown potatoes a couple of years ago. I wasn't sure if I was going to plant tub potatoes ever again . . until you came out with your tub potato hack. It more than doubled my harvest this year. Thank you and may God bless you, Richard

Glad I could help my friend! Certainly per plant in a bag they produce less but if you double up you can get a tidy harvest for a small space!

Thanks for the excellent videos. I believe I saw your dog walking on a planting bed. My dog taught me that just his light weight would compact the soil, making plants not grow as well.

Thanks so much! I've just started to garden and well I have to say it's been a slug of a challenge, watching how they totally destroyed my plants, not knowing what at first was eating all the plants, ever since watching a video on what to do to get rid of them I've been hunting slugs , how ever low income doesn't provide for replacing chewed plants :( but has made me aware of a few native slug killers to attract to my garden, I'm planning on a bird bath closer to my garden spot, hoping to get some of the many birds in my back yard to come help out with that :D Thanks for all the helpful advise you show us

Thanks for your videos. I am looking forward to the growing seasons and more content from you. That actually leads me to a suggestion: I grow chillies and tomatoes and I've picked up that soaking for 24 hours in chamomile tea improves germination. I have virtually 100% germination rate and I am wondering if I am lucky with the seeds, have a good setup at home or if soaking actually helps. Could you evaluate different germination methods?

i like idea of sneaking garden plants into front yard. example be in window flower box. plant lilies then plant strawberys next two them. look like yellow flower next white flowers. people won't know there strawberries till to late. i also like idea put lettuce in fence line next flowers get same effect. with mix salad greens it hard for most people tell if lettuce or just weed. or put blue berry bush next normal bush. Most people won't know

We don't have restrictions on what I can plant where but it certainly would be fairly easy to sneak things into the front to take advantage of the space.

Tonight we'll be having Prawn/Shrimp cocktails with a salad which is a tradition in B's family. Tomorrows big meal with our guests will be a slow cooked goat curry using home grown spice, sweet potato & water chestnuts. We're not really traditionalists here. 😉😃 B wants to do the normal turkey meal on Boxing day when there will be less folks to prepare for. 😉

Hey Steven, Really like your videos, they've taught me a lot. Me question is an indoor gardening question. What do you do to your water before watering your plants? Do you use tap water? I currently am using tap water that I let sit for a day or two before watering my plants with it. Is there more I could be doing? Organically of course. Thx Mike

There is no need to leave you water out. The chlorine in the water is not in a high enough concentration to cause any issues. If you like I can send you a link to two videos I did on the subject.

Most of my videos I script to make sure I am bringing you the most precise and well thought out video possible. That said I have worked very hard to improve my delivery so it feels more natural. Improving how I present is a large part of why I do this work. I find it rewarding to face my fears and continually work on improved presentations.

great vids! are crab apple trees in the same family as apples commonly bought from the store?

They are the same family so you can graft eating apples to a crab tree :)

Stephen, when I was composting veggie and coffee ground scraps it turned to mud and smelled horrible, so I mixed it with leaves. Will it work ok? Also what did you do to your foot and how is it now?

I have a long history with my foot. Some surgeries and general clumsiness have left it banged up today but no worse than most days. Yes mix those with leaves and the smell will go away and the compost will take off. If the smell persists put a layer of leaves on top with out mixing. It will act as a filter.

Red riggers.

I just had a thought. Do you think you get nutrient benefits from the snow in your garden. I have heard snow called "poor man's fertilizer" and wondered if their is any scientific evidence of this.

I got a new job and my son is in sports now. Life got away from me and unfortuently that means I have had to slow down.

got be careful wood ash it cause soil be more acidic. if grow blue buries like seen you are then some wood ash is good thing. it like compost tea people back for on idea

That is why I typically admit to my compost so it has time to neutralize with the other components.

I draw the line when it comes to using human urine! Eeewwwuh!!!
