We return to Sydney Dragway to wrap up our coverage of the opening round of the 2019-20 400 Thunder season, the East Coast Thunder. And we’ve saved the best for last, as the kings and queens of the sport in Top Fuel. Last season’s title fight saw three drivers battle it out for the Australian title, with Rapisarda Autosport International’s Wayne Newby claiming the title in the final race of the year at the 52nd Winternationals. He’s back to defend his crown, but also returning to the scene from serious crashes are Peter Xibberas and Phil Lamattina. The title chase begins

Are they running 1/8ths? ? Now i can understand why the crowds are down.....nothing beats top fuellers running over the 1/4

Top fuel has been 1000 feet for years now, they are way too fast for a full quarter mile

why are the teams push the dragster at starting line and after burnout instead on their own power? what is up with that?

It saves the wear on the clutch. It’s set up for the pass and pushing it forwards and back just saves the wear on it.

Phil Roberts replied: "TF dragsters don't have a transmission, they're essentially pushing the full engine power straight through a 5-disc clutch. You can't control that much power at slow speeds, at the end of the run t..." thing is that i do see some teams doesnt have to push from the standpoint...

The crowd is crap... bring it back to ANDRA... bring it back to Perth. IHRA have a lot to answer for ruining Drag racing in Australia. (Personal opinion only)

@@garysmith1379 It's not much different in the states and many of the strips are way below this standard. The racing surface and car counts are much better though.

This was the early morning races I went to this event and I the afternoon there’s was no spare seats in the grand stand and the grass on the other side was packed
