Ғылым және технология

Welcome again,
This video is a slideshow of photos document the build of two Top Flite Taurus R/C Airplanes. These air planes are vintage pattern planes originally designed by Ed Kazmirski. There will be more videos of these two aircraft coming in the future. At this time on January 12, 2016 both aircraft have not had there maiden flight yet.
One is powered by a O.S. FX 46 and the other is powered by a Tower Pro 46 . The AUW is about 6 to 6 1/4 pounds each. They are both covered with monokote. Servos are Hitech HS425BB running on 6 Volts.
Thank you for watching. Don't forget to subscribe, share, and like for more videos!

I Am 66 years old. The "Taurus” was my first multi channel aircraft. Used a Bonner 4 channel radio and a Veco 45 for power. Plane was covered in silk hand painted with a camel’s hair brush using aircraft dope exactly as pictured. First flight was by my instructor. Then the controls were handed to me. First time flying a multi channel radio. That day I will remember for a very long time. Ed Kasmerski designed a beautiful and flying model airplane.

I remember seeing this plane in tower talk flyers I used to get ,I over looked it over warbirds that was in that, now that I'm older and back into the hobby now this plane would be amazing to own and would be a everyday plane to take to the airpark.i was courierous about the wingspan I loved that don't need a huge engine, sounds like it would be very smooth plane.these are very sharp.thanks

Love to have a kit of that. Built one in 1974 on board the USS Constellation in the airframes shop while on Yankee Station. Had to have something to do in the middle of the night when standing around waiting for work.

Thank you for a great video, I have just received my kit from New Zealand, no instructions, then I saw your video which is very helpful. I am a newbie, and mainly need to know how to secure the landing gears.

Beautiful work on both planes Mathew. I ran into this and it takes me back when I was 13 yrs old (I'm 70 now) and got interested in RC airplanes and my mentor and I built my Taurus. Its what I learned to fly on using Orbit 12 channel reed system. I still have it and the Orbit system. Powered it with a Super Tigre .51 and flew the hell out of it. Seeing this I want to build another one. Question, was this an original kit(s) or did you find a source to get all the pieces already cut to size? If so, do you have the source. I still have the box and probably the original full size plans in my mom's eves. I hope you'll be able to respond. Thanks, Fred

Hi - Can you advise what engine you used for your Taurus? I was looking at the plans today and I am going to start getting the wood together. It is not as big as I remember, I am wondering if a .60 is too much for it?

@@rcfred_689 I had one years ago with a 76" wingspan and a K&B .61. It was just the right power. wish I still had it. Got HUNDREDS of flights out of it.

My brother found and bought me an original kit in the box from somewhere in California. It says 1962 on plans. I don't know if I want to build it because it's so rare. It had to have cost about $500 bucks. Any suggestions ? Very special since I found photos of me building one onboard ship while in VietNam. 45 years ago !! My comment two steps below.

I sure would like to build mine. It is original still in it's box. But breaking with traditional values, would it be a crime to " modernize " it ? Looking at an OS .52 four stroke for better performance [ I don't like 2 strokes ] . Reinforced main gears with back struts too. Stronger wing joiner with forward pins and wing bolts type wing attachments. Such an elegant airplane. Are flaps forbidden ? It's something to see me in a photo taken 45 years ago standing next to my first Taurus on board an aircraft carrier in 1974. I bought it at the Subic Bay Naval Base while on deployment with a little bitty OS .35, that engine I still have on my workbench. Advice please.

Tomas Jay , ours have 46 two strokes on them and fly very well. They have wing bolt attachments and standard landing gear. I don’t see a need for addition bracing unless you want to. I would build it how you want and fly it. It slows down enough I don’t see a need for flaps either. Good luck and have fun
