So when i initially went, i paid 3,000 for "full face," which is right below my eyes all the way down to about the middle of my neck. That was for the first 8 sessions. I got the lifetime warranty. So long story short, i pay 40$ a session now & i actually can go longer than 2 months. i just choose to because at 2 months, my hair starts growing back in very light. People always say they dont see it, but i know its there. @ParisfromTexas

For having harped on hyper pigmentation so much she didn’t at all address the concerns that darker complexion as the laser cannot specifically target hair from pigment. The reason why it doesn’t work on blonde hair is because there isn’t pigment, but it can’t tell the difference between skin and hair when you get to a certain shade of melanin. In fact it shouldn’t be used at all for most darker skin tones because it will quite literally burn you.

@@dimpled_skeptic93 you do not know that. I am 111 and 5’4 and I have more hair then she does. People like you can be such a headache to talk to. 1. Her weight is no reason for her to be shamed. Bringing up it as a factor when someone says she should be respected indicates that you believe she should be shamed to some degree. 2. Pcos looks different for everyone the has it . Her weight could be a result of pcos and would be a struggle to “maintain” it in a way you, dimpled_skeptic93, prefer. And even if she did her hair can stay the same. It’s clear to me that you don’t have pcos and just learned about it quickly online. It’s an understudied syndrome that affects peoples weight, fertility, energy, etc. and to say it’s manageable just with basic changes is an overstatement. It helps reduce symptoms but to what degree depends on the person.

as a woman and an OB/GYN, it’s really frightening to me and I mean this in a non-offensive way I’m not trying to say that you’re frightening or your lack of knowledge is frightening, but I meant is that the lack of understanding in education overall amongst women about anatomy and biology it is frightening and I think actually in the era of social media it has gotten worse because what we see is there’s people going to social media for advice and information and sharing things that they wouldn’t share with their doctor or a close friend in person or a family member but they’re sharing it with strangers on the Internet and they are getting some very very piss poor advice and completely false information. I see it all the time I see all kinds of misinformation being spread and it’s disheartening because obviously in my job our objective is to educate people, and inform them ideally as young as possible, you know a girl should know as soon as she is old enough to articulate if something is the matter and what is normal and how to properly care for her lady parts and such it shouldn’t be a big mystery that someone has left to navigate on their own or that they seek information off of the Internet not that there isn’t good information on the Internet because they’re definitely it’s there’s a physicians like right here who have social media pages if I had the time for such a thing I would consider doing it but I don’t if I see something where I can help. I definitely call it out but sometimes that’s all a person can do. I really just hope that young women and women, realize what is a good place to get information and what isn’t always consider your source don’t be taking advice from random people online

Started electrolysis in Feb. Once a week for 30 mins. I can't tell you how amazing it's been for me. They first thin out over time and then over more time they stop growing. I'm suposed to go in for my weekly appointment tomorrow and theres literally like nothing to get out this week. Just a few tiny thin hairs. Pcos is depressing but thankfully we live in a time where permanent removal is possible. Trust the process and keep going. :) just tweezing alone is such a mental and emotional struggle. I just told myself, ill pay someone 50 dollars a week to remove it for me. Having someone take care of it for me alone is worth the 50 dollars. The plus side is you will eventually have no more hair to deal with. Tomorrow I am only going in for maybe 10 mins?

If you've been going since Feb every week, does that mean all of the hair is almost gone after 20ish sessions for you? Also, is it possible that it'd come back after a few years?

Be careful everybody with waxing and laser removal because the heat can produce a paradoxal regrowth and so you can have more hair in the area than before. Body parts dependant from hormones are the face, the chest, the lower belly, and the front of the tighs. The best method for these area is electrolysis, but it's difficult if you have too much hair. You can still achieve the same result with laser but it will take more time to remove the new hair stimulated by the heat, and so it will cost more.

I'm sorry you’re having such a difficult time with this. One thing I would point out is that excessive hair growth is not always hirsutism. For example, hypertrichosis is an increase in the amount of hair growth anywhere on the body and can affect anyone. Whereas hirsutism describes excessive hair growth in women, in a male-pattern distribution (e.g. moustache, beard, chest, back) due to excess testosterone.

  • @MissDirect

@DrSimiAdedeji I do get that and I know that things can be difficult to diagnose. I have been diagnosed with "unexplained" hirsutism by an endocrinologist. I have excessive hair on my: beard, mustache, chest, belly button to groin, lower leg. That, combined with other symptoms say there is something hormonal that I am struggling with but the endocrinologist was awful. He was dismissive and condescending. I've tried really hard to ignore the gender of any dr but IMO this guy should not have been working with female health/patients. He tested 2 things then gave up as my periods were "regular" enough, time span of the cycle can vary by about 10 days and spotting at random times, but who cares... their happening right/s. the only thing he would do to help was potentially proscribe a medication to reduce symptoms of hair growth (not even what I was trying to get help with) but only if I had a IUD... for the health of a fictional male offspring... which does not and cannot exist. Makes complete sence. 🤬 at this point it took so long and needed so much effort to get through the system that I have given up for the time being. This all happened in the UK BTW.

  • @Annie_Annie__

    @Annie_Annie__

@@MissDirectI don’t know if this will help, but something that helped me get diagnosed with PCOS was charting my cycles. I kept track of when my period started, how heavy the flow was each day, how bad the cramps were, and tracked any spotting or bleeding between periods. I also gradually worked on learning to track my ovulation (PCOS can cause delayed ovulation), which can have a bit of a learning curve. Anyway, when I went into the doctor with more than a year of my cycles charted, all the charts printed up and in a folder I could put in her hands, it was harder to ignore. Suddenly instead of looking at my memory of my last 2 cycles, which might’ve been regular, she was faced with over a year of data. I also printed up an organized list of my symptoms that I put together a little at a time. That way when I was cramps so severe I got dizzy or headaches, etc, I could add it to the list in the moment. Then I wasn’t struggling to remember all the many symptoms there on the spot. Also, I don’t know about in the UK, but in the US a gynecologist can diagnose PCOS. So, if there’s a gynecologist you like, maybe you could ask her/him about it? But definitely start with charting your cycles. It’s just good medical info to have if nothing else.

Cause female ya know. Like how birth control and plan b and mifepristone are completely safe to use and can be used otc and should be but nope they'd rather women go without than reclaim any of their power over their body. And fwiw ibuprofen is more dangerous than low dose birth control pills, plan b and mife. Yet I can gobble ibuprofen all day long but I gotta beg for bc.

I’m an esthetician, electrolysis for a total permanent hair removal or waxing for an inexpensive almost permanent hair removal. The thing about lasers is that it’s hair reduction and some of that hair can still grow back, especially because of the testosterone and or if you’re taking supplements such as biotin. Waxing damages, the hair follicle overtime leading to permanent hair removal eventually. Electrolysis goes into the hair, follicle and basically electrocutes it and permanently damages it so it cannot grow another hair but over larger areas. It’s bad because you have to go into each individual hair follicle it’s really painful.

@sydney8190 It's not bad. I was terrified but wanted to get rid of my goatee. Tweezing every single day was the norm for me. My electrolysist was wonderful. I never felt the needle, just the little zing. It's not painful, it's different. It's so hard to describe. I have recommended a few coworkers and they've had the same experience. Waking up and not having to spend my mornings inspecting my chin and surrounding area is wonderful. Experienced, licensed, and knowledgeable technicians are a must.

There is also epilation. I’ve been epilating my legs, arms, underarms, lower back, and upper lip for the past few years. It’s basically a little device that pulls the hair out from the root (like waxing). It’s also quite inexpensive because you buy it once and then you use it till it breaks (which is usually a few years). Although, you need to get a separate facial epilator if you want to do your upper lip and rest of your face. Even though I highly recommend it, just keep in mind that the first few uses will be painful if you’re not used to it. That’s why I do it every one or two weeks so that my hair doesn’t grow too long (because the longer your hair is, the more it hurts).

I use an epilator machine I got from Amazon. I don't have pcos but come from a long line of hairy ladies lol. I used to wax myself, but it would rip my skin off sometimes, too. That left me with dark pigmentation. But I really love my epilator machine. The machines aren't all the same. Some are cheaply made. Mine was a facial epilator and cost about $15 on Amazon. An epilator acts like tiny tweezers that pull the hair out. Braun makes epilators for Face and and emulators for Body. I got the Braun one for my body but bought a cheaper one for my face. The epilator for my body was painful (plucking hair) but you get used to it after a while. Sometimes the hair can get trapped. But I don't really have any problem with it. To bad it took me so long to find the epilator. Epilator, where have you been my whole life!

@@jasminealwedyan874 yes love the epilator! I've used a Remington and an epilady the Remington has been my favorite but probably just because it has more tweezers so I feel like it's slightly more effective. But I have to find a way to fix that one because alas I think my hairiness finally overwhelmed it😂😂😂

waxing since 14 and it works well, still have to use twizzers though. 16 now and i use vaniqa cream daily and it has significantly slowed and prevented some of the growth, so i only wax once every month if i want, otherwise i just use twizzers. Vaniqa has blessed me and it works best right after waxing🙏

I honestly-to-God thought that laser hair removal was a permanent thing. Now, I’m like, “If it’s not permanent, is it worth it?” Because after I turned 30, I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism & started growing a lot of facial hair on my chin & necks. I pluck it everyday & shave it but that just temporarily removes it & as soon as I come home, I can already feel myself being prickly. I don’t know what to do about it or what would give me at least a couple of days of hairless peace.

Get the laser - once your hair growth is reduced to pretty much non existent you will only need to get treated yearly. However pregnancy can change it and make the hair come back full force.

At first I was able to tweeze when I didn’t have as much hair. Now I use a small facial shaver and it works I have to use it like every other day though and the stubble on the chin is very annoying. My upper lip is easier to maintain the hair does not grow back as fast. I was informed I was on the spectrum for PCOS. I’ve tried laser and it was very unpleasant for me and I’ve been scared to go back and try it again. 😢
