Wait till they can't contact you during an emergency or one of the teachers does something to your children then you will wish they had their phone on them to be able to call you during what could be their last moments or record the interaction of the foul play

@@supergenerationgamers Please do tell all these moments you encounter on a daily basis or the crappy school your child goes to that allows the thing you mentioned. Give me a break with the school emergency or what “IF” a teacher does something. Does your child go to a school with no other students around or zero workers. You speak as if a teacher is just walking around smacking children up like it’s a gang. You do realize it’s 2024 and schools have cameras in every corner/security. Phones became widely available around early 2000s. Believe me texting was just as distracting to the students. How come only now we have to tell kids to GET OFF their phones. Parents decide to make up excuses for their kids “oh they need their phones”. I’m sure you’re a joy to deal with when it comes to a teacher dealing with you at parent teacher conference.
My electronics: a calculator and a Walkman. I’ll argue your point of why they are even allowed to be BROUGHT to school to begin with. NOT one single time in all my years was a cell phone needed.

I HAD ONE WHEN I WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL 40 YRS AGO
Cell phones have become much more distracting than they were two decades ago when I was in high school. The odds of an emergency happening where students must contact their parents immediately are very low anyway.

The odds of an emergency 🤔 so you're telling me there haven't been a couple of school shootings in just the past few years 🧐🤔
I SWEAR EVERY TIME ITS RUSH HOUR IN FRONT OF MY HOME IN GREENWICH,CT EVERY PASSENGER IS LOOKING DOWN
I disagree with that because say if like an emergency happen how your going call your parents you understand what I'm saying, at least have a bin or something while their teaching and give it back to them at the end of the period. So for those reasons I disagree

How did students get in touch with parents before cell phones? Go to a guidance counselor or principals office and call your parents.

@@nxvx9208Lots of kids didn’t have phones on 9/11. That was an emergency, and once cell phones started working again after initially failing, kids were already leaving school while parents were trying to get home. It was not great. 2,000 kids can’t use the landline in the office, especially when the landlines are down…due to whatever the emergency may be

@@kareemdeen4336 that’s all they have to do but they won’t because they’re immature. We can’t have teacher wasting time checking after kids who don’t put it away. Also, ChatGPT could be a real issue with test taking.
I’m all for this!
Teachers are going to get beat up.
Ummm, maybe work on the crime rate first, since a 13 year old was raped on her way home from school last week. This year, there was a lockdown at my kids’ NYC school due to a psycho jumping the fence and running around kids in the playground. What if he had accessed the building. Cell phone would be useful then. I’m sorry some teachers at some schools apparently have no control over their students, but that is a broader issue. The city and state government barely if ever is keeping our children safe, so kids need to depend on themselves when parents are still at work. Not everyone can afford a nanny to pick up their teenagers for Pete’s sake
Dangerous Children from poor quality homes
Worried they won’t be able to contact each other during emergencies? How stupid people have become? Cell phones didn’t always exist people. There was a time when there wasn’t any such thing as cell phones, and life went on just fine. Including schools. People today really need to get a clue

But yet there have been more school shootings
A 12 year old got raped in NYC this week, and a 13 year old got raped in NYC 2 weeks ago. If I were a parent, my biggest concern for my child is her safety in this day and age. Her academic performance have take the backseat.
So are the teachers so is every adult in the school take everyone’s phones if you’re just gonna collect students phones then it’s stupid
Kids are still going to bring cellphones to school Just don't pull it out.
why at the beginning of the year. when it's the middle of the school year. why not at the very start of the school year 2024.

I needed to take a jab at useless public education system. Hey, without these smartphones how else do you expect students to get smarter in class, with these teachers and teaching subjects? Look that jinjin just recently moved here from China, the guy knew how to do some PhD level university math and look at Carl, he’s still figuring out how to pick nose with pencil…give it some times

They will survive smh😂 I swear people nowadays don't know limits. Phones aren't a necessity inside schools. Stop being dramatic 😅
