Oh Lord, I forgot about the condensation cup! I just went to check and there was a brown moldy goop in the cup. I took it off, ran hot water in the sink, added bleach and it’s soaking as I’m watching you. Thank you, thank you and thank you for doing this video today. My daughter is coming from VA to Fl for the Fourth of July and will be cooking and I would have been so embarrassed for her to find what I found hanging on the side of my wonderful instant pot she bought me for Christmas. The last time I used it was in early March. It’s no wonder I have moldy goop in the cup. Thanks to you, I’ll never forget to clean the cup again! Just want to mention that I bought another seal and use one for roast or meats, veggies etc. and the new one is used exclusively for deserts. At least all the other pointers you’ve given I’m doing right. Have a blessed day!!! 😇🤗

Fortunately, for me, I found your channel before I started using my IP! I bought it and like some of us, it sat in a box in my kitchen. I got tired of looking at it and starting researching how to use it. Between you and my sister, I learned enough to not be making ANY of these mistakes now!! I'm now looking into a 3 qt. IP, because I love mine so much and my hubby and I eat somewhat different foods. Thank you!!!

We just purchased a 3 qt pressure cooker for the hubs and I. It’s just the two of us and it’s the perfect size.

I am guilty of 2 mistakes-keeping the ring in the lid and putting the lid on the pot. Thank you.

I have NEVER made a single one of these mistakes🔥🔥 & I was afraid I would blow the house up when I first bought it so I did a TONNE of research beforehand😂😂😂. #GoMe

I have been wanting one for that long but was terrified of them so after watching countless videos of yours and Six Sister’s, this January I bought one and I have learned from you masters very well! I haven’t made any of the mistakes (at least not yet!) that you have mentioned nor have I got the ‘dreaded burn notice’. I bought an 8 quart but I have to say that I love my IP so much I am planning on getting a 6 quart soon. Thank you so much for sharing your valuable knowledge on IP’s and taking the fear out of using them, I for one am very grateful to you for that! Stay well!

I found this Channel before I bought my instant pot, watched the Dont's video. I have had mine for a couple weeks 😻 Very excited about your new Cookbook! And when Amazon Prime comes, I will know what goodies I need.

I am making two of the mistakes. I appreciate you giving ideas on how to correct them. I will try out the burst venting and try storing my ring loosely in my lid. I tried storing them separately but ended up trying to use the pot in a hurry and burning my food due to not having the ring in place.

2. I forget to check the cup regularly and I keep the sealing ring in the lid. I’m going to check both right now!

I took the test missing 2, sealing ring and getting water on counter. I'd already learned so much watching your prior videos. I've made a few of your recipes too. I've been using my IP for several months now and even took it on vacation to use in my motorhome. I love making long cooking oatmeal in 4 minutes. I add a handful of Craisoins or raisins which plumps them up. Thank-you for your tips, tricks and recipes.

I usually store my ring in the lid and only turn it upside down if I sniff it and need to air it out. I've never had any condensation make it to the little cup--I used to take it off and wash it every time but mine is very hard to get back on the pot. The worst thing I did was splash some corned beef juice between the liner and the pot and had to take it apart to clean it and get it dried out. That bottom part is full of wires and electronics so Don't Ever Spill Anything In There! Another time my cord came loose from the back and I thought my IP was a goner!

When I was new to Instant Pot, I made mistakes #5 and #9. However, I learned quite a while ago not to store the ring inside with the lid on. I store the lid upside down with the ring properly in the lid now. I just flip the lid over when I'm ready to cook. It never holds any odors and I'm good to go.

Im pretty new to the instant pot, only had it a few months but I’ve used it at least a dozen times. Love it!! When I first purchased it, I watched several of your videos before I used it so I actually passed all 9 of these!! Yay!!

I purchased some really nice appliance covers on Amazon. They cost me only $12-$15. I got one that fits my 6 qt IP and one that fits my Mini. The 6 qt cover fits my air fryer, so I bought one more. They have exterior pockets to store the power cords, spoons, tongs. They cover the fact that I store my IPs with the lids upside down, the way you do 😉 Thanks for all the helpful tips you post, Lisa ❤️

Glad I watched your videos before I used my instant pot. I made some bone broth and it still had a smell after cleaning so I did all your storage tips and added some white vinegar in the liner. So far so good.

I have not made any of those mistakes mostly thanks to you. Some I knew from owning a pressure cooker. Your videos are awesome and I tell everyone about you. You've also taught me a lot about what accessories are available so I can make good choices. Last but not least you've helped me learn how to adapt recipes for the IP. There are only 3 KZreadrs I make sure never to miss and you are one of them. Thank you for being you!

I used to place mine on my ceramic cooktop 🤦🏼‍♀️ bc I could vent up and out rather than under my cabinets. BIG THANK YOU for suggesting to put a cutting board on the ceramic cooktop THEN my instant pot. You are rest best vlogger!!

I've made a couple of those mistakes and learned the hard way that I shouldn't do them. Wish this video would have been around before I made them. Would have helped me to make less messes lol.

Love your vids! I have 2 mistakes 😕 I have never used the condensation collector and I bought too many accessories when I first got my IP. In my defense, I was excited about jumping in feet first. LOL So I went overboard on the accessories. 😊

It’s 2 mistakes from me - venting a stew fully (learnt from that experience quick smart 😜) and carrying pot by the lid handle. luckily haven’t had the pot drop so thanks for this video Lisa.🙏🙏🙏

Somewhere I read, “over a cup of liquid in the IP? Use NPR, NOT a quick release.”

Only 2! I just noticed the collector during my last use xD and I definitely store the pot with the lid shut.. but I usually have the pot part in a separate cabinet

0, but I have an embarrassing number of IPs and got my first in 2014. You learn along the way. 😄 Another thing I do is to open the lid away from my face... just in case. You hit every point perfectly. I love your videos. 💕

I have to say none. I've only had my pot about 3 weeks and paid attention to yours and a few other videos on KZread. I did purchase some accessories but, again, paid attention to the videos and identified things I knew I would use, steamer basket, spring form pan, stackable pots, I would love to get an extra insert (made yogurt that had mine tied up for a day), and the air fryer lid. Saving for later.

I have been guilty of 3 of these.... Two I learned how to fix from you Lisa,, Leaving my seal IN my lid and storing my IP as is. Now I do these just like you... The other one I learned the hard way, I made a big pot of soup and dummy me did a quick release! Soup was delicious..but also everywhere. Funny that soon after that I watched another one of your videos and you said don't do that 😂

Made 3 mistakes listed, but learned quickly

I have to turn my pot a quarter turn to release the pressure. Otherwise, the steam gets on my cabinets and ruins them (I learned the hard way). Because I turn it, I see the condensation cup every time and clean it when it gets gunky.

7/9. I don't remove my sealing ring, but that's more a case of informed laziness than a mistake. The cup on the back I definitely forget to check.

I’ve only had my instant pot for about 6 pots of beans and a dozen eggs but unfortunately the only boo boo’s I’ve done was releasing a pot of pinto beans and had bean juice all over my bar. Had no idea what I did wrong until just now. I have studied you’re not to dues not this one got another one before I ever got started so I haven’t made any of the other mistakes but I sure didn’t know what was going wrong when I had been juice line out all over the kitchen. I live… I learn. Thank you so much for the videos you put out here I wouldn’t be touching this instant pot if it hadn’t been for your videos and learning on them before I ever open the box. I happen to be very fond of navy beans and pinto beans and I even made batches for friends and neighbors just to show them how easy it is and how good they taste. Jackie

Ok, I fess up to storing the seal in the lid, I will no longer do so, thank you! I've almost learned to not to take the lid off so fast and instead allow the accumulated liquid to drip into the pot. I like your video's and have watched many of them, thank you!

I’m 0/9 because I watched your do’s and don’ts videos first! I also store my sealing ring inside my instant pot with a small cup of baking soda. I also love your tip about microwaving your cooking liquid first. It really decreases the coming up to pressure time. 👍🏼

2. I used to store everything as is until I watched one of your earlier videos. Good thing it was only after my second go with it.

I guess I'm making only half a mistake. I sometimes keep my sealing ring in the lid, but it's the white one that I only use for bland foods. When we cook soups or other foods with fragrant ingredients, we use the blue one we bought. Then we put it in the dishwasher. So that one never gets stored in the lid. The only two accessories we bought at first were the clear glass lid (on clearance), which I use when I put my yogurt in the refrigerator overnight, and extra sealing rings in a set. But so far we've only used the white and blue ones. My husband can never remember which sealing ring to use, so he always asks. Bless him! 🤗
