Very pleasantly surprised to the two Hawkwind tracks here. Those two albums criminally underrated.

Great list - no Le Orme, Banco ? And how can you not have 'A Louse is not a Home' by Peter Hammill? Nevertheless a great list!

So at the end of 1972 Sounds music paper publishes its albums of the year. Who comes at the top of the list, Argus, by Wishbone Ash. This was a massive album and commercially successful. Firmly considered progressive rock. This has to be a massive oversight.!

I am not familiar with most of the groups but I do know Jethro Tull and they were #1 . They were the 1st live band I saw and was so shocked at the talent that I saw them over 300 more times in 12 states and 100s of venues. Did anyone else have a Jethro Tull hobby ?

Except for the first album of the same name, Supertramp is more likely to be attributed to art rock than prog rock, nonetheless I love Supertramp 👍😉

Shine on and Echoes, the best ones IMHO. I'd would add: Finale (Greenslade), Prologue (Renaissance), 1974 (O Terço), Irene (Kayak), Los Delirios del Marischal (Crucis), Princese (Camel), I believe (Triunvirat) and many Alan Parson's Project's tracks. Greets from Brazil.

I always listen to Pink Floyd in order of: Shine On (parts I-IX), DSotM, Echoes.

Excellent selection, diverse and in some cases obscure, some songs I haven't heard in years.

The Fortune by Angel!!!! Incredible Epic on the French Revolution!!!Pomp Prog, At its Finest!

The Yes Album-Yes Benefit -Jethro Tull Foxtrot-Genesis In The Court Of The Crimson King-King Crimson Pictures at an Exhibition-ELP Hemispheres -Rush These are good intros imo

Missing in action: larks tongues in aspic, in the dead of night, Sahara of snow, 21 century schizoid man, battle of the jester and the tyrant, euthanasia waltz

Would’ve made Suppers Ready number one, but it’s your list. Also In the Cage or Back in NYC in place of Lamb Lies Down (song not album)

So true. Supper’s Ready I would say is the greatest song of all time, and Back in NYC is definitely better than the title track.

England's Garden Shed, what an album, all the EP is incredible but I think that specifically "Three Piece Suite" would make a good place in the top 15, what a masterpiece.

Top 6 are excellent choices.

I completely agree with you Thick as a Brick in conjunction with Passion Play are the two best albums done in the progressive rock history. One time i heard Andrew Giddings said , Jethro Tull music is only for not all ears is for smart people.

That list lacked the big bands Focus, Banco and Kansas.

Suggestion, as this was so good, why not extend it to your top 100 prog songs of the 70's! And when you are finished that, how about top 100 prog songs of the 80's!

Per carità le classifiche possono essere opinabili soggettive ,quindi ogniuno può fare la sua , però vedere avanti in classifica con tutto il rispetto gli SBB band polacca sconosciuta ai più precedere addirittura i PINK FLOYD di ATOM HEART MOTHER suite ,da MOLTO da pensare secondo me questa classifica ed anche vedere sempre i PINK FLOYD con THE GREAT GIG in THE SKY lo strumentale col grande e celebre vocalizzo di CLARE TORRY così indietro in classifica addirittura nelle ultime posizioni NO anche questo fa pensare e poi non ho visto NIENTE di STRAWBS , PROCOL HARUM ,MOODY BLUES , FAMILY , CURVED AIR ,MARILLION , SPOOKY TOOTH , KATE BUSH, HAMMILL e GABRIEL ,KANSAS, STYX etc !!!!!! Soft machine’s third is my literal favorite album, but why does it keep getting labeled as prog when it’s 75% straight jazz.

Rush is good but not that good. If you can't incorporate a quality keyboard player it's hard to play with the big boys.
