@@HabreReggae Harry Belafonte, Byron Lee, don't think I would class Yellowman as reggae, and I wouldn't put Judge dredd or Muta anywhere close to a top 50... Could swap any of these for artists I mentioned and get an instantly better list... But taste is taste and you can't argue with it...

Well it’s an impossible list - ask a 1000 people and you will get 1000 different lists……omissions…..Yabby You, Michael Prophet, Bob Andy, Gladiators, Johnny Osbourne (he has to be on the list) Frankie Paul (has to be on the list) , MarcIa Griffiths, Barrington Levi and so many more.

John holt, nicky Thomas, Desmond dekker. Maxie priest. The gladiators, the heptones, johny Nash,pluto shervington. Ali Campbell.

Where’s Hugh Mundell, Augustus Pablo, Horace Andy, Twinkle Brothers, Barrington Levy, Jah Shaka? All of them should be top 50 at least.

True about the the great artists that were simply over looked and many misplaced. For one Cedric Myton this Rasta is still kicking and taking names. Another interesting debate that people miss. It's about Rastafari. Cedric Myton has the song Where he Leads me. It captures the essence of being a Rastaman. I consider this to be very true and Best Reggae song #1

I am a senior citizen born and raised in Jamaica, so no one cannot easily misled me about music fraternity. Because I born come see my uncle as a musician, who played guitar 🎸 and 🪕 banjos and. I grow on mento ,then ska,Rocksteady and also Reggae. Any singers you never went through Vere John opportunities show, they are very young singers. That man is the foundation of the Jamaican music fraternity,he found a few of the singers them from in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He died in 1966, anyone you talk to and they does not know about Vere John opportunities show. Then you know that they are very young singers, he found the wailers, Millie Small, John Holt, Dobby Dobson, Alton Ellis, just to mentioned a few of them. Most of who is running up their mouths about the music fraternity, they were born after independence august 6 th 1962. So you cannot really argue with them at all, because they wasn't at the national stadium 🏟️ when Derrick Morgan singing forward March song , for the independence. So it would be very un wise to hold any conversation with them, because they does not know what the hell they are talking about.Larry Marshall was the very first singer in Jamaica, that sing a reggae song nanny goat 🐐 version. So all of them who is running off their mouths, they does not know what the hell they are talking about. The younger generation in Jamaica should listened to their elders, that is the way they are going to know the real truth of the history of. The music fraternity, because they was around long before they were born. I know that since the You Tube channel came in, everyone is so educated so. You as a elder cannot tell these younger generation in Jamaica nothing at all, because of their egos.So you just haveto leave them to their raptobates minds,ok.

Prince Jazzbo was a goid one. Or was that an slias of Big Youth ? Aswad , Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. Would be my top three. I bought all The Reggae CDs I saw for sale in The Bus Station under. Lee Scratch Perry. L.S.P. used various artists for vocalists ! Which was confusing here in England !

Anyway, just for the fun of it, I'd make my own "top10 greatest reggae artists" (being nothing more than my own personal favourites): 1.Lee Scratch Perry; 2.Burning Spear; 3.Prince Far I; 4. Black Uhuru (in its early 1980's form); 5.Linton Kwesi Johnson; 6.I-Roy; 7.Cedric Brooks; 8. Vin Gordon; 9.Yabby You; 10.Augustus Pablo. I do not include Bob Marley, simply because he's hors-catégorie and forms a league of his own.
