Brings back some happy memories in good old 80s

Remember each of these games took a few kilobytes of memory (basic cartridge was 4kB), it's basically the size of a single animated emoji. Considering the hours of fun on them, it's an insanely high fun/byte ratio.

Brings back such GREAT MEMORIES, We had so much fun on Friday and Saturday nights just playing these games and it was even more fun watching my Mom trying to play them.She was such a fun sport at these and she`d laugh so hard when she was doing badly but we had so much fun, i miss those days very much

Primitive though they may appear by today's standards, these games were magical when they fist appeared. And some of them are quite playable today. I was never able to "clock" Space Invaders as a kid, but I somehow managed to do it as an adult, using an Atari 2600 emulator! How often does one meet a childhood objective as an adult?

You can get double fire on atari 2600 space invaders.just turn on the power switch and select button at same time.

Dang, I think every video game ever, I remember being very confused with Zelda NES, but I naturally figured out how to get to the first dungeon as I got older!

My childhood right there! Great memories! WE (My generation) have witnessed the evolution of the industry from those early days to what it is now!

I remember: pitfall, keykapers,frog, not sure about pacman,River raid, space invaders

Enduro and river raid are my favs

Great list. Lots of personal favorites on here you don't often find on the best-of videos, especially with the Supercharger getting the love it deserves. I'd love to see a similar list focusing on the modern homebrews for the system. Who would've ever thought we'd see a Robotron clone on the 2600?

Yeah , ik usually people are putting it on there list or Indiana Jones on it. And both of those games suck!!!

Even to this day the Atari 2600 is an amazing game system.

I remember playing river raid with my dad and my brother. Didn't even know the name of the game. Also the one where you have to chase the prisoner was tons of fun!

I had vanguard and loved it. Great game. Demon Attack was a great game and so was Seaquest.

Nothing quite like the Atari. My childhood friend had one and I remember playing and wanting one so bad! I did finally get a Colecovison. Would like to see that list sometime :)

Funny, I wanted a ColecoVision but couldn't get one because, "You have an Atari." Not sure how much they paid to fix my broken Atari that read the fire button being pressed for both controllers even when they weren't plugged in.

I've been watching a lot of "favorites" videos of Atari 2600. There's always someone commenting they played combat a lot with their friend/relative. I'd like to see a video pre-Space Invaders of their first 33 games. Also, let's see a "top games" list for their top-selling games, even if Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Defender and E.T. were stinkers. Maybe with some ads thrown in? Should be a lesson for kids.

This all was such a huge set back to gaming as we would have known it today, had atari never existed.

Well I can't disagree with your list !!! Atari 2600 had some Great Games !

That is a nice group of games for the 2600. Personally, I would have selected The Official Frogger (Supercharger) over the Parker Bros. port of Frogger. It is so much better than the Parker version! Phaser Patrol is awesome and Solaris is oustanding!

It would be interesting to see them together. I think Parker Bros. was 1982 and Starpath's was 1983. Still, the first gets it done.

That one required an accessory though, right? I mean, I've seen videos on it. And, yes, you are 100% right it is a league above the Parker Bros. cartridge version, but it requires a Starpath tape loader accessory. I've never even seen one of them in person, and I grew up in the 80s and all my friends seemed to have 2600s (I didn't.) So I could see leaving it out.

@@pulykamell It requires the Supercharger, yes. But it can be played with a Harmony cart now or through emulation.
