Favourite vintage nerf gun, in 1994 Milton Bradley made made a flywheel gun that shot foam discs from a gravity fed internal magazine that held 20 discs. I had the batman version, maybe I still do. It was so much fun.

my brother got that OG Crossbow - the original arrows were definitely better than today's. Those things flew incredibly straight if the wings weren't wrinkled or damaged. I remember popping my dad in the head with an arrow all the way from my brother's bedroom into the kitchen area - he was not happy haha. I couldn't believe the distance on that sucker, such a bummer it broke and it got lost or given away.

Thanks for the nostalgia trip. I vivdly remembered my Small Soldiers blaster after seeing yours.

My favorite vintage blaster that no one thinks about is the air zone bow. With arrow storage on the top and bottom of the main barrel, it makes the blaster look intimidating. And it also had a cool sniper scope with green lenses for more cosmetics.

Hey I used to have one of those Small Soldiers dart guns! It's gone now (I think...I'm pretty sure...probably...unless it's in that toy crate in my room that's been buried for years), but hey! I also remember when the Manta Ray came out and I saw the commercials for them. I remember I wanted one. Never did get one though. As for my vintage blasters. I think my favorite one I have left is my Nerf Bow and Arrow. I did relatively recently (in the past...5 years or so) pick up an arrowstorm just for the extra 11" arrows. I do remember one hilariously aweful vintage nerf blaster I had. It was a slingshot that fired balls. The balls would stack up 3 high in a gravity feed box. You then had a large rubber/plastic hammer laced through with elastic that you would pull back and try to aim through the opening at the bottom of the box. I remember most of the time I tried I would miss the ball and the hammer would hit the casing around the ball, or if it did hit a ball it would often be off center. I also had a blast-a-matic for a while. That one definitely went to goodwill at some point. I always had trouble getting the last ball to fire out of the barrel. 99% certain I still have a SuperMaxx Buzzer Air Bazooka. I don't recall if I have 1 or 2 rockets for it though. I know at one point one fell in half and I had to glue it back together. No biggie though, held together just fine.

My favorite vintage blaster? The original Secret Shot. Easily the most comfortable pistol ever until the Sidestrike was released.

Actually the 1993 Nerf Arrowstorm was the first to shoot 2 kinds of ammo. The arrows and the vintage mega darts. I had one brand new when i was 8 and we got the suction cup darts for it and they worked perfectly.

Dang that throw back to the dorm days and when everything was fanger red.

Top 5 Non-Nerf Blasters. Those could also be subcategoried into springers, flywheel blasters, etc

My favorite was a nerf pistol with a pull back similar to the nite finder. From my hazy 27 year old brain memory I can remember it was obnoxiously loud (hence why I loved it). Whenever I pulled back and it was primed (also obnoxiously loud ratcheting) then with a thud fired old school megas or what would be known later as elite darts. I don't know if it was Nstrike or not but I loved it as a 8 year old kid. It was yellow, but I had it when I was around 6-10 so '96 to '00.

I remember growing up with the supermax 5000. It may have been the first Nerf blaster I ever owned. But unfortunately parts of it broke over time and I don't think I can find it anymore. I basically like to keep it still for nostalgic purpose, because I'm not sure about its performance if it would hold up nowadays

On the topic of powerful single-shot guns, have you explored modded Sledgefires much? I've got a 3D printed shell that allows for rear-loading of elite darts, and I find it brings the rate of fire up to a reasonable level since you're just having to stuff ammo in, rather than carry around pre-loaded shells. It also turns the gun into something of a sniper rifle, since the plunger is designed to drive three darts and is instead all focused into driving one. Most powerful springer I own when I'm running it that way. How's this for a top 5: Top 5 guns that we wanted to love but weren't good without modification.
