Looking for the best glass to protect your iPhone 11? For this video, we went and broke products from Zagg, Belkin, BodgyGuardz, JETech, ESR, FLOLAB, $1 dollar screen protectors, Spigen and an un-named prototype. Here’s the power rankings for the Top 5 toughest screen protectors:
1. FLOLAB NanoArmour (updated for the iPhone 11)
2. Belkin InvisGlass Ultra (bought at the Apple Store)
3. BodyGuardz Pure 2 Edge
4. Zagg Glass Defender
5. Airo Defender

Realistically, any double tempered screen protector could be in the #3-5 spots since there was very little difference in terms of drop protection.

For this video, I’m going to focus specifically on impact. The coating on every screen protector wears off after a while which means the device becomes prone to scratches. However, the strength of the glass does not change.

To get these results, we broke all the screen protectors using a 200g steel ball dropped via electro-magnet onto a piece of Quartz. If the screen protector didn’t break, we’d increase the height and find a new spot on the screen protector to test. We did this until we ran out of the brand of screen protector (i.e. if we had three panes of glass, we broke three panes of glass)
At the bottom of the list is this screen protector that I paid one USD dollar for. It broke at 6cm’s which means it’s not even tempered glass. It’s just glass. Which makes since given that the packaging on the box wasn’t even printed. It was just a box. That smelled funny.
Next up was the product from ESR breaking at 33 cm followed by Jetech at 62cm. So between these two budget brands, JetTech was better from an impact protection perspective which means it uses better glass and or has a better tempering process. Within this tempered glass grouping, Rhinoshield had the best glass. Pitaka, whose MagCase Pro is #5 in my Top 10 list included only an average tempered glass screen protector with their product which sucks. And Spigen’s latest screen protectors with the EZ fit applicator tray, broke at the same level as the JETech product. Sad.
Now onto the higher quality products. In general, products in this category are made from Alumino Silicate which means they are doubled tempered. Most of these products broke between 81-93cm. On average, these products cost around $30 dollars. Included in this group was the Zagg Alumino Silicate, BodgyGuardz Pureview, Airo Collective and a bunch of OLD FLOLAB screen protectors I got from last year. I have to point out that I tested a several panes of Thin Fit 360 Glass from Spigen and they performed MUCH better than the new EZ Fit.
Now in the group of the WTF screen protectors included the Belkin InvisiGlass Ultra from the Apple Store which is made from Corning 2 glass. This screen protector broke at 103 cm’s which was crazy to do. Now as a side test, I decided to do the same drop test to my last Cinder screen protector which is one of the very few screen protectors that claims to have used Corning glass and it broke at 100cm.
Now the next screen protector I decided to test was another FLOLAB screen protector. FLOLAB had sent me a set of new screen protectors to use and said they were a little better. These new screen protectors broke at 107 cm’s. Which was surprising.
I shared with them the result and FLOLAB just casually said “O yea, we tweaked the manufacturing process a bit to make our products better”.
Now I do have to add that DESPITE being able to figure out what the toughest glass is, it’s still glass. The ball test against a solid piece of stone was the only way I could consistently test the strength of the glass.
ANY screen protector will still chip on a bad drop. Hybrid glass screen protectors will chip. Full plastic screen protectors will deform. The edges of a tempered glass screen protector are especially susceptible to chipping so keep that in mind. So treat the screen protectors as a consumable.

So I just got an iphone 11 pro and I've been spending the last few days looking for screen protectors that I actually feel are worth putting over such a beautiful screen. I'm absolutely thrilled that you've put this much effort into testing something that most people spend only 30 seconds thinking about. It makes my nerdy heart happy.
So I ran a box knife on the screen protector that I buffed and although it didn't scratch, there was a bit more friction on the side that was buffed when compared to the one that wasn't. Thought I'd share. Here are some of the other cases I've tested that WORK with the full 3D screen protector: -Pelican Shield & Voyager -Apple's Leather cases -Otter+Pop -UAG Monarch -Element Shadow -Gear4 Platoon -X-Doria Defense Shield -Simply Carbon Fibre Alcantra Cases that DON'T work: -Spigen Tough Armor/Rugged Armor -Incipio Esquire (pushing the buttons hard will pop the screen protector up) -Tech 21 Impact Clear -Otterbox Defender -Mous Limitless 3.0 (iPhone 11 Pro) *If it works for one case from a specific brand, there is a good chance it will work for all cases from that brand.

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to buff a screen protector in the exact same manner... For clarity, if it's a name brand piece of glass, its going to sit between 92-94%. There's 5-6 layers to a screen protector so anybody claiming higher is definitely lying.

The belkin has Corning accessory glass 2 Also, the protector at Walmart is exactly the same for only $10. (Blackweb) And accessory glass hasn't been upgraded ever so it's pretty much new

Thanks so much for the recommendation. I love my FLOLAB screen protector. I tried a cheap Walmart one at first but the edges were sharp and actually would cut my fingers. On top of that, it wasn't really edge to edge and left a space between the case and screen protector that would collect dust. The new FLOLAB screen protector resolved all of these issues. It fits perfectly in my Casetify case removing that dead space around the sides, and the edges are ever so slightly rounded so it feels silky smooth even when swiping up from the sides or bottom. Really appreciate all the effort you put into your reviews. MobileReviewsEh is the gold standard!
Thanks for the effort, great tests. I have a couple of questions please - 1: those drops look real impressive, its seems a great way to test - but the protector was not on a phone screen do you feel that a phone would have ben protected by say the FLOLAB protector if you'd dropped the ball from almost a metre? 2: I also saw the review for Mous case, I like the look of that too, but its plastic screen protector is maybe not ideal - so would the FLOLAB screen protector and Mous case be a really great combination?

Hey MobileReviewsEh, I have a question for you. I often hear you talk about the toughness of a screen protector in terms of how hard it is to break the screen protector. But isn't it possible that a screen protector that is very hard to break, actually doesn't protect your screen very well? What if the screen protector just passes the impact right along to the screen and the screen breaks, but the screen protector doesn't? I don't know if I'm talking BS or not, so I'd like to hear your experience and knowledge about it. Also, after having seen some drop tests with the iPhone 11 Pro I'm very impressed with its toughness. So this year, for the first time in years, I'm considering to go caseless and to only use a screen protector on the front and another protective layer on the back. Do you have any recommendations on what to put on the back? Plastic is fine by me. I just want to add the most amount of protection in the least amount of thickness.

Welp, my spigen glass screen protectors that came in the mail yesterday from amazon for my 11 pro are going to be returned. I’ve used their glass protector for my xr since April of this year and it’s been great. I've never come across a glass screen protector that was grainy. From my understanding most glass is between 92-94% clarity.

I bought the flow lab as recommended in this video and I don’t know if is just me but there is a flaw. The black bars in the top of the cover interfere with ambient light sensor and sometimes i have to increase the bright myself.

This was for glass screen protectors only. I do talk about the Rhinoshield 9H Tempered glass in the middle. The Mous hybrid glass is more of a plastic screen protector with a glass coating.

I'm disappointed in your recommendation for the Flolab screen protector. They're located in china and the product takes 3 weals to arrive in Canada. You can order express shipping but that costs almost as much as the screen protector. You owe it to your viewers to mention this. The Flolab site is in US dollars and gives the impression that it's based in the US (usually 4-6 days delivery). No where is it mentioned that the product ships form China. I find this deceptive. You give the impression that shipping is from the US now.If I knew this wasn't the case I would have never ordered from them.

Let’s just say that i have to check my credit card statement make sure they’ve returned my money or I’m gonna be so f.... 😡 Waited 3 weeks and got what I did not order in mail. Put it this way - Ordered 1 apple and they gave me 2 oranges, when they could just tell me that they don’t have anymore apples before i ordered. So I had enough and said f.... it Went to the Apple store and had the Belkin screen protector put my new phone. I don’t trust a company that instead of telling customers they out of certain items than charged the customer and sent them the wrong products and hoping the customer would be happy and forget about this whole deal. 👎
I’ve recently purchased the Flolab NanoArmour and I have to say I’m impressed so far. It came with a full screen sticker to remove any dust, an alcohol wipe, a micro fibre cloth and smaller stickers to remove any ‘missed’ particles once the shield was in place. The applicator made it easy to align and it feels great too.
installed my flolab full screen protector for the iPhone 11 and I am in love. It feels amazing and super smooth and love that it protects the front camera. Best Buy ever
I don’t know if this is scientific or even correct, but I feel like it is better to buy 5 cheap China screen protectors for 5$ and just switch if it breaks. I feel like the expensive screen protectors chip and/or break just as fast. Isn’t it better if the screen protector breaks and “takes the hit” instead of the force just going through the screen protector and cracks the phone? That’s my thought, please comment if you have any facts or tips ;)

Not to mention a granite block is a much different surface than a glass iPhone screen. If you’re going to say this is what happens on your phone I think you need to use a phone.

The more I watch your channel, the more I realize just how good it is. I have to say, by far, this is the best mobile tech review channel on youtube in terms of testing. I realize you don't have the kind of funding like consumer reports or major testing firms, but your ingenuity and perseverance shows you really do care about providing the most accurate test results for your viewers. The market options are vast and testing can get quite expensive as you have mentioned. This is immensely appreciated, let me tell you.. Back in the day, before glass screen protectors, as a tech hobbyist, I spent hundreds of dollars to review dozens of brands of screen protectors to satisfy my own curiosity (I am a quality assurance professional). I can empathize with time and energy you've spent making these videos. Thank you again. This is channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Rock on!

Just installed the nanoarmour 3D on my XR, and it’s hands down the most quality protector I’ve ever felt. Installation was easy and the dust stickers were key. If the protection lives up to what you show in the video I will be convinced this is the greatest screen protector available. Shipping was a couple weeks due to coronavirus, but I can’t complain, especially with a lifetime warrantee!

Your reviews are very well done. I purchased a Flolab 3D nanoarmour screen protector for my Iphone 11. I am very happy with the clarity and did not notice any decrease in the sensitivity to touch. In addition to that it came with a lifetime warranty with free replacement if it should break. Flolab's support team is not only helpful but very responsive. I also purchased a Mous 3.0 Limited leather case as a result of your reviews. I think it is the perfect case for someone that wants excellent protection without the bulk while maintaining very functional control buttons and sleek design.

Thanks for doing what you do! It awesome to have people like you ,who take the time and do experiments like these. Stuff like this honestly helps the community in a way as police officers, and firefighters do. It protects the consumer in many ways, like, companies who just say things that don’t hold up to their claims. Or when a company who purposely slow down phones in a deceptive manner 🍎🙈🙉🙊 It really puts companies in check and in line. So thank you for your work really😁
