Great video !! Maybe next one you can show the Nih Core in action. The switchover resets the industrial crafter to off (I put sm bat inline with input = 2) and resets any timers in use.

Auto-Start-Stop Electrical Furnaces: Piping: Large Box -> Input Conveyor -> Furnace Chain - > Output Conveyor -> Storage Electrical (Mainline): Switch -> Input Conveyor -> Output Conveyor -> Memory Cell -> Splitter(s) - > Furnaces Electrical (Auto-Start): Input Conveyor (filter pass) -> Memory Cell (Set) Electrical (Auto-Stop): Output Conveyor (filter fail) -> Memory Cell (Reset) The switch only exists to cut power to the circuit and can be skipped if preferred. Remember that you need to manually Turn On each furnace once per server reset.

Your auto furnace can be made more auto-y, but requires you add 9 more power. A far better trade off than having to press the button and replace the igniter every day. [Ore Filter Pass ]--->Furnace On | Furnace Passthrough ---> Furnace On | Furnace Passthrough (etc, down the line of furnaces)

the furnace circuit is pointless. blocking the power to the splitters from the branch output does nothing for power consumption so even though your furnaces is are off you will still be using the same rust watts from the battery. its best to feed furnaces with the power out side of a branch.

All u have to do is change the branch out to the furnaces and power out to conveyor and but blocker before all the splitters for furnaces

I wouldn't recommend using that backup circuit, because after a few seconds the first 2 batteries will want to replace the backup batteries again. This back and forth will continue forever. Maybe you could use 1 blocker per battery pack, and 1 memory cell to completely drain 1 battery pack at a time.

I noticed this issue with the circuit as well, I've made circuits which do this, but you don't need another memory cell. With one extra blocker, you can just use another OR switch with each, so the output of the OR switch goes to block passthrough, each OR switch has an input connected to the opposite bank's electrical branch branch out (left at 2 watts). The other OR switch inputs come from a splitter. The original blocker is removed and the NIH core splitter only has 2 outputs (not 3) for the memory cell so set to 3 instead of 4. Add another electrical branch after the NIH core splitter branch which needs 5 power, finally, the power out of that branch goes to the charging splitter. For each bank it goes 2xbattery -> root combiner -> blocker - > branch, power out going to the core OR switch. Hope I wasn't too difficult to understand, figured I'd share my design here (adapted from Cableguy Rust which used 1 battery). There's not much point IMO in using this video's design for the first bank to be left draining for no reason while using the other bank when only a few more components would fix the issue. I might copy/paste the comment.

@@challengeman101I think this is fixed with two blockers. Since this system has two batteries supplying a required 200 power, they are root combined and the Nih Core charges both batteries from the splitters. After the each root combiner on the battery outputs put one blocker then one branch. Batteries -> root combiner -> blocker -> branch. Send an output from each branch to the opposite blocker, then the other output to the OR switch. Whether you use the configured side of the branch or the output side of the branches to do the blocking is a preference I believe. What will happen here is one side will block the other side. Whichever happens first will be based on how rustricity flows. They cannot block each other at the same time. When the side that is blocking the other side runs out of power, it will allow the other side to now pass and block the first side. Now the first side can charge up to full while the second side holds on. It will hold on until restart which may cause them to switch again, or until it itself runs out of power. In which case, it will stop blocking the original side again and then the original side will take over and block it. I haven't yet tested this, but I'm going to test it as soon as I can and I think the theory is sound.

Wanna know what THE best circuit is? The auto-empty-base circuit. Have your lootroom hooked up to like 16 externals. Rust+ signal to empty the entire base. Rust+ to get it all back when u come back to base :D

why should i use nih core when i can just plop another turbine?. nih setup is like 15 power by itself. i fail to see the necessity tbh.

@@TheDemetharThe nih core only costs two rust watts when power production meets the required amount. The idea is to reduce the 20% hit on everything that happens when you go through batteries exclusively. If you are just a zerg with a giant base, it's not that important. A ford pickup truck will drive in the alps just fine but a ferrari would do it better. The nih core is the ferrari.

My comment is more towards the production of the video I would just make sure to adjust your music and voice levels so they don't over power each other. Some places your music is over powering your voice and makes it hard to hear in headphones.

The auto furnace setup kinda defeats its own purpose by using a branch for power. The power consumption on a branch off side is always counted as active use, regardless if the power is used. Having the blocker there does not affect this at all. So it doesnt matter if the furnaces are on or off, the circuit will draw the same. To fix this I would suggest running the power through the both conveyor passthroughs and into the blocker, leave the branch out entirely.

but if you have a power bus to deliver the power to this system that would still require a configured branch. You way would work only if you weren't using a nih-core, and it it was on the last branch output from your power bus.

Why do you need the lighter for the furnaces? They have a turn on input. Also the lighter takes damage each time you toggle it, how do you deal with that?

This is an old design before the recent electrical changes. Logic circuits used to add compounded rust watts cost. So it was easier to just cut power. And use an igniter to turn them on whenever the server turned them off on restarts. So you would only click the button a max of like 28 times. Which is wouldn't even come close to breaking the igniter.

If you use a conveyer and link them all via the filter fail branch then the total usage of the circuit will only ever be 3 power. The filter fail generates 1 free power upon failure.

A Nih Core basically routes incoming Power Generation to Pay for your circuits first, then spends the rest on the battery. If power generation falls below power requirements, then all power is sent to the battery and the battery pays for power costs. The reason we do this is because a Battery has a 20% tax on it. If we sent 100 power to the battery we end up only storing 80. So instead if we had a power requirement of 90 we would send 10 to the battery, storing 8. Which means we would have lost 2 power instead of 20.

I think it's because if they are off (in this case, power removed) when the server shuts down for restart it just defaults to off because they are unpowered.

Mmm... Good point.... Never thought of it, but I usually play on lightly modded vanilla servers. So it may be the reason... I never usually play straight vanilla, to boring and tedious for my liking lol Nonetheless, love watching your videos of how educational they are!

You can do auto light easier. Just use blocker and branch from red cell. If the solars have power then the light is on. Simple.
