    I'm a training esthetician and I had an assignment for a holistic ingredient project. I picked snail mucin and I had so much fun researching it. My teacher was put off by the idea of snail mucin at first but she was convinced to buy the cosrx serum after she saw my presentation. I was able to research the chemical composition of snail mucin (specifically that of Helix Aspersa Muller snails which are used in cosrx and other cosmetic brands) to figure out why it could have benefits for our skin. I found this info from a study called "Protective effect of snail secretion filtrate against ethanol-induced gastric ulcer in mice" The chemical components include vitamins E, C, B12, B3, allantoin, glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, elastin, collagen, trans-retinol, and 13-cis-retinol.

    It’s important to note that people who are allergic to dust mites, are also allergic to snail mucin believe it or not. I tried snail mucin because of the many benefits that it has, and also because I was interested in the trend/hype over it. But I learned the hard way that I was heavily allergic to it and ended up having to be seen by a specialist and be on medication for 10 days in order to recover from the reaction. The correlation is unusual and almost unbelievable but definitely something to be aware of.

  • @OhHaiiLove

    @OhHaiiLove

    11 ай бұрын

    @@Hollygirl2795 I use the cosrx niacinamide snail mucin essence after washing and toning my face when it’s still slightly damp, then I put my tretinoin on after the serum dries for a minute or two, then I put the snail mucin all in one cream on top of the tretinoin. I usually let that sit for about 5 mins and then layer a heavy moisturizer on top (if I don’t let it soak in it pills sometimes depending on the moisturizer. I’m using lubriderm advanced therapy lotion rn) then put on Vaseline for my last step, but I would skip the Vaseline if you’re still having sensitivities to the tretinoin cause it can cause more irritation with the way it traps your active products under it. I had been on .05% tretinoin for about 6-7 months and then moved up to .1% daily in like a week or two with this combo cause it really cut down on the irritation the tretinoin would cause.

My skin is radiant, smooth, even & actually moisturized & no more flaking & redness around my nose & eyelids.

I tried a new retinol (I don't want to mention the brand) and ended up with a nasty chemical burn on my face. My face was extremely red and super sensitive. When I used Cosrx snail mucin, my face started to burn. Some of my other products did the same, even my skin 1004 centella ampoule. The products that I could use that really soothed my skin were: La Roche Posay lipikar gentle foaming cleanser, laneige cream skin refiner mist, make prem gentle and hydrating essence toner, LP cicaplast balm, illyoon ato concentrate cream paired with paulas choice plant oils. These ingredients were very soothing. I hope this helps someone. 🙏

    I think the skin is very subjective to snail mucin as most ingredients are. I assumed I wouldn’t notice a difference but I could by day 2. I have normal to dry hormonal acne with some other acne breakouts. For me, it is extremely hydrating, and it heals me acne and scars quickly. My hyperpigmentation from acne scars has been greatly reduced in the 2 months I’ve used it, and it reduces irritation and my active breakouts when I have them. Personally I was skeptical but gave it a shot and I won’t be stopping. Especially with my wedding in a month and the amazing changes my skin has had.

I love, love the way it makes my super mature 71 yr old skin so soft and smooth and it really helps out with lines around my eyes and mouth. Also as a retired nurse I also know about multi drug resistant bacteria that have plagued us since the over use or indiscriminate use of antibiotics. These super bugs have been around for longer than we think. I didn’t know it was being tested on using it to fight h.pylori, stomach bacteria, that when overgrown can cause ulcers. I won't use snail mucin products for two reasons. One, I can't do the texture. It's so off-putting for me. I like my hugs to be dry and warm, not moist and tepid. The other reason is that I'm not sure that the extraction process really is that nice for the snails. I mean, they secret their mucin as a stress response to their environment, and the extraction process essentially showers the snails in a mild acid to make them secrete mucin... No, I'll stick to vaseline and HA.

No. But it does no harm, which is important. I've tried many brands but the standard Mizon one and Cosrx have been best in terms of value/ quality for price IMO.

When I tried snail mucin from cosrx and even peach slices both help my skin feel better I alternative days on which brand I use. I love it has made a huge difference in my dryness but also sensitivity as well. For me the texture from the cosrx doesnt bother me and reminds me of a creamy gel like consistency. Peach slices is a bit lighter weight formula and I usually wear it during the day time. I don't use it every single day at this point, but it worked wonders at calming my skin inflammation, including almost completely erradicating the small pimples that would often break out all over my face, nearly eliminated the redness on my cheeks and forehead, moisturized without aggravating my oily skin, and seemed to clear the last remnants of the eczema on my hands that I've been battling for about three years. It's earned a permanent place in my skincare routine.

    My understanding is that if the snails are stressed out the mucin is not high quality, so they try to keep them as “happy” and healthy as possible. But I understand why a vegan would not use it as it’s still an animal product. Just like they don’t use honey, even if it comes from an ethical bee keeper. To a vegan it doesn’t matter, it’s still an animal product.

    In the beginning i was too super duper motivated to use snail mucin for the redness on my arm. I had a scald injury and the redness persisted so i look for that ingredient due to its wound healing and anti inflammatory properties. But when i looked further into it yes it may help in some extent but not the actual ingredient for that purpose like niacinamide for instance ❤ (i love that ingredient and licorice root extract too). But one thing is for sure and i totally agree with doctor Andrea which is that the feel is like an actual hydrating hug cloaking the skin just perfectly in my pov and the cosrx is also my go to. It is the feel, the actual results and effect on the skin surface it's just wonderful 😊❤. Another thing is that it is the only humectant on the field ok H.A, glycerin and poluglutamic acid are some of those ingredients with similar properties with snail mucin. So a try will convince you if it the thing for you but remember what the product targets its actually purposes. Thanks Doctor Andrea now you did make me to look for snail 🐌 ❤😂 love your informative and educational videos so much.

    Hi... Can you tell me if it is good under makeup also? Doesn't it make you feel sticky? Will makeup perform well on top of it ? Please share your experience 😊

    @@vidyaarora1512 oh no, it dries fast. Not sticky at all when dry it’s only smooth. Helps my makeup go on good

    Love the Peach Slices Cleanser & Snail Rescue Mask I use often,I tried another Black Snail product I think it was Ottio,some name similar to that if I miss spelled,I was definitely allergic to this product as above my ankles my skin turned bright red a big wide band around both my legs I stopped this black snail cream (returned) & the wide band of red above my ankles disappeared.
