What about LOCAL subway/train? Is it just local buses? I wanted to avoid having a car when I move there if possible.

We have RIPTA bus service but as for rail, we only have a commuter rail service by MBTA. Most of PVD is accessible by RIPTA bus lines.

RIPTA conveniently takes you anywhere in the state. There are buses and trains that go to Boston and New York.

I left Providence after living there for 35 yrs. Everyone says $256 would be for a crap house, which I totally agree. But no one is talking about the outrageous taxes on top of the price. Not just property tax, there is fire tax AND you need to pay quarterly car taxes for driving your car in RI. I moved out of RI and purchased a house for more than I paid for a house in North Providence and I pay less monthly mortgage payments due to the taxes

There is no separate “fire” tax in Providence. Property values have gone up nation wide. Car tax was annual in Providence, and no longer exists. There is no car tax.

One thing about RI is, everything is near by. Almost anything you want to do, is near by. Surrounding Massachusetts is considerably more expensive than Rhode Island. Providence has more restaurants per capita (per 100,000) than any other city in the U.S. many are top rated, so many for different budgets. T.F. Green airport is also extremely convenient, getting in, and getting out, Logan out of Boston is miserable. Not sure why you state Providence has a weak nightlife? I can only speak for the gay establishments. Providence has a very large gay community, with many gay nightclubs. Outside of the gay mecca’s like Provincetown or Key West, Providence may have the largest per capita gay bars of its size. A city of 180k people with six gay clubs.

Let me tell you something, Providence is the greatest fucking city in the world

it would be much nicer if you show the places instead of just talking about it.

Yes it has, you can still find really really good value.

Invalid only reason to move there is coffee milk and for less social interaction and even then you can go to a different part of Rhode island

I was born and raised in Prov, specifically I’m from the South Side (which is one of the urban neighborhoods/sections in the city) and I disagree with clubs. There are many clubs in my neighborhood that I grew up in and clubs in other neighborhoods through the city. There are a few clubs in downtown as well. But just because there are barely any clubs in downtown, East side, and some parts of the North End (all the affluent areas in the city) doesn’t mean there are no good clubs. This sounds very biased and white (on topic of the club scene section of the video) 9:04 !

Don’t move there unless you got money. If you can’t afford to live in a nice part of the city then avoid it. Very dangerous.

Most of the city is nice, and the crime rate is lower much lower than the national average and similar mitro cities.

This video is hilarious and not true don’t listen to them providence Rhode Island wack I live here every body trynna leave this place !!! There’s nothing here but good restaurants !!! Don’t do it 😑

@@rorydupuis544 I prefer Rhode Island over Florida.. Florida is exciting and only good as a vacation destination, Rhode Island is comfortable and feels like "home"

People are leaving for better opportunities The governor of the state spend more money then what’s coming in no new businesses are coming to Provedence or anywhere in the state Be prepared to pay high taxes not a good place for retirees

Anybody saying there are reasons to move to Providence obviously doesn't know RI or its economics. RI'ers are leaving the state in droves. Look at home prices on websites like Redfin or Zillow. Homes that sold in 2011 for say 200k are now over 300k, and no, it has nothing to do with value when you're driving on the worst roadways in the country, RI ranks 45th in business economy, 39th in education and crime rates have risen every year since 2017. Yes, the food is great, if that is worth it to you to dodge multiple potholes on the way to the restaurant. I hope you really like paying taxes because RI ranks 3rd in the country in household tax burden per capita. Also, wee little RI is home to 2 of the top 5 most unfriendly places in the WORLD (Providence and Newport) and nearby Boston is also on that list. I know all of this because it was part of my research and deciding factors of moving my family from East Providence, RI to Florida. Maybe make a video about why people should leave democratic dumps like RI and move south? Just a suggestion.

It depends what you need. As someone who has retired, I find the houses are STILL 150K cheaper than Boston area and the people are still friendlier than Boston. Because the houses are less expensive the taxes are still 20% less than Boston. As one who has checked out properties in SC and NC, I still feel that weatherwise I will be more comfortable than sweltering in heat and humidity for more than six months a year. You can’t even walk at night when it’s cooler without the risk of alligators coming out of the lagoons. No thanks. I still love skiing in winter and won’t have to give that up because the drive is closer to the mountains. RI has everything from rural to urban and everything in between. I’m looking at Cranston, staying away from congestive areas. I’m also looking forward to living closer to my favorite beach!
