Top 5 Products I recommend for ADHD

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2017, and since then I have found some items that help me greatly improve my focus, help me remember important things, and keep me from losing my keys!
EDIT: A few people pointed out that the LED in the timer cube is probably so deaf people can still use it. This is a great point! I just wish there was a way to turn the LED off without opening the cube up and disassembling it lol.

The LED in the cube may be useful for someone who is hearing impaired, but there should definitely be an option to toggle it off/on.

Very true! I agree that it should be optional but they probably didn't include that for cost saving reasons.

Or if you’re like me, you set alarms and forget about them. Then when you go to the bathroom/ leave for whatever reason, they go off and annoy everyone around you. 😅

Just wanted to mention that the Time Timer doesn't have an LED. I bought it originally to help my autistic child, but noticed that it's just as useful for my "time blind" child. That child has generally resisted other timers because of the stress component of a deadline, though not with the Time Timer. I have no affiliation with them, btw, just a product that has significantly helped this neurodivergent household. We've since bought five of them, we love them so much.

☺️ Thank you SO much for mentioning the Time Timer! timetimer.com I had no idea this existed. And I like that it is quiet (no ticking), no LED and has an audible alarm that can be switched on or off. This will be very helpful for family members with ADHD.

Ohhh the earplugs are such a good idea I never thought of wearing plugs. I end up wearing headphones without music playing constantly (not on purpose, I forget to unpause my music lol) and it helps me focused a lot

I do that all the time! And yes, not even on purpose, I literally just forget I have them in. 😆 I do normally have a KZread video or movie on, but sometimes if I get interrupted and have to pause it, I just forget to hit play again. 🙃

You should consider trying Pluggies earplugs for kids. They're less expensive (and less fancy) than the Loop earplugs, and they also have a few styles that are intended for adult wearers. I chose the kid ones because I have small ear canals, which makes wearing regular earplug sizes pretty painful. I also carry a little travel case of q-tips, because my ears always feel very uncomfortable after I take the earplugs out.

I have two pairs of loops and those things have saved me so many migraines and melt downs. Though I agree the price is a little high for what they are

One thing that has been a game changer for me is having some sort of stick-on wallet on the back of my phone. I keep my ID, debit cards, and Sam's Club card in it 😆 while I do misplace my phone here and there (because of course I find the weirdest places to set things down) it's at least something that can light up and make noise, and my wallet is right there with it! 😄 It also means that I don't always need to have a purse with me, I can just carry my phone. It's been one of the best decisions I've made for myself. Might not be helpful for everyone, but I love it. Tiles are also great! I've had them in the past, back before they had replaceable batteries, but I'm definitely open to the idea of having one or two of those again.

I've found that Tiles are super helpful for this. I have one in my wallet and one on my keys. With the Tiles app, I now have to misplace all three of these. The biggest issue for me has been when I'm panicking looking for one of these and forget about the Tiles... 😅

The Datexx timer cube has an on/off switch for the little blue light. It also lets you choose the volume of alarm you want. Or you can even turn the alarm off and just use the light if you're someone who would prefer that option

Thanks for these tips! I tried looking at mug warmers previously but ended up not getting one - I was too overwhelmed by the options and various reviews. This recommendation made it much easier. :) I also looked at the Ember mug, and it wasn't just the price issue for me - I wanted to use my collection of nerdy mugs I already had, but also I knew I don't always clean dishes right away and didn't want to be unable to use it because that one mug was dirty at the moment. One important thing about the mug warmer you linked to, but I don't think you mentioned it, is that it has an auto shut off. This is super important when we are so easily distracted, the last thing we need is to leave a mini stove on indefinitely... Also there are some that will only heat when a mug is on them. That is a great safety feature, but they have very specific requirements of the types of mugs that work with them. So most (if not all) of the ones I own wouldn't work.

I keep the car ''key' (starter) attached to a little metal D-ring that holds the purse strap. My other keys are attached to another ring inside the purse. Finally I have control over the key issue :) Love the timer that you show, I use my phone, and it takes time to open, to set it, then I see a text, and off I go down the rabbit trail. Thanks I will order this right away.

I love Carabineer clips! I don't need to carry any more than 2 keys myself so when I went to Home Depot to get a key made and found that I could have a COMBINATION HOUSE KEY CARABINEER CLIP!!! My car key has a little ring that I clip the house key to (along with a chapstick holder) and then I NEVER have to worry about losing my keys in public again. I just clip them to my purse, bra strap, or belt loop (depends on where I am 😅) and then if I ever need to hand someone a key for any reason I'm not breaking nails 🥹🙌

Just a thought, but the LED might be for deaf people that also want to use the product ^^ sometimes the alarm might no be loud enough? For those you can't really hear anything, dunno, I'm not deaf so it was just a thought

Yes! I need to leave a note in the video description about it, but as someone else pointed out, the light is probably so people who are deaf or hard of hearing can use the timer still.

I've been considering the loop earplugs before but talked myself out of buying them because it's made in China. However, I have bought other things that were made in China if I have considered them necessities. I don't know what to take from this. Should I consider nice earplugs a necessity? I have some bright yellow travel earplugs with a string that scream 'neurodivergent' when I wear them in public. I don't wear them on the daily because of that. I used to wear in-ear headphones more in the past before I got my on-ear wireless noise-cancelling headphones. I'm thinking if now I should make a craft out of old in-ear headphones, but I think I decluttered all of them.

Hey good question! I went to a psychiatrist in 2017 because I was having some issues with focus at work that were impacting me a lot. You can get diagnosed by talking to a psychiatrist who will evaluate you! It is super common for ADHD to be missed in childhood, especially for women.
