Just bought a 2007 Silverado with 129K miles. It was sold to me cheap because of a check engine light which with my scanner I saw was an evap leak. Ha!!! have a gas cap coming but that hint on the purge valve was great. Ill check there as well. Great Stuff, Thanks!!!!!!!

I have a 2007 classic with 280K miles and other than the rust on the rocker panel it has none of these problems, it's a extremely reliable truck, can't recommend it enough to anyone wanting to buy a older truck

Nice job, you nailed pretty much the only issues I've had. I have a 2006 and its been a great reliable truck. Most of the issues are no big deal, but a mouse did a ton of damage to the wireing under the fuse/relay box a few years ago. Symptom was my cooling fans stopped working. Traced it to the wiring. It was not enjoyable to repair.

Here are the biggest issues I faced from 35 miles to 110,000 miles (over 14 years) on my 2007 Silverado 1500 Classic 5.3 Flex 4x4 Z71. 1. The 1/2 accumulator in the transmission failed and gave hard shifts between 1st and 2nd gear. Easy but messy fix I did myself in a few hours. 2. The Cabin Air Temperature Sensor Aspirator (the little speaker looking thing above the driver on the headliner) failed and my heater would only work when it was set to 90. It's actually a little blower fan that sucks in air over a sensor and can make a faint whining noise. Easy DIY replacement of GM Genuine Part 22834330. 3. The 3rd tail light/cargo light seal dried out, cracked, and started leaking. Little did I know the water leaks right into the cabin and starts to stain your headliner above your rear window. Easy replacement, check this if you see a brown line across the back of your headliner. This happens on new trucks too! Even right off the factory floor due to misaligned install causing a bad seal. 4. Tailgate handle rod came off due to aging plastic clips (is very common and silly). Easily fixed with some steal wire to keep the rod in its home. 5. Extended cab door handle failed due to internal rod coming off as well due to plastic clips. Easy fix by bending the rod tip to stay in its home. 6. On both driver and passenger doors, the panel that holds the window controls and door lock buttons is loose because plastic clicks inside broke. (yes more plastic junk that I can't find to replace anywhere). I will probably end up 3d printing some replacements.

Love the videos! I’ve learned so much about my truck. I searched “Silverado anatomy” and didn’t find what I was looking for. I’m not even sure how to word a search but maybe I can ask you guys. Can you or do you have a video that comprehensively identifies every part under the hood? I’d love to watch that video for an hour while I eat dinner instead of a sitcom. I feel like I can ID about a tenth but I don’t even know what some of them really do. Take me to mechanics school but do it in a four hour video. I know that’s a big ask but maybe something to pin to the bulletin board. After all, it used to just be Mike narrating his work and now there’s a cast of a few mechanics, you could make it a reality tv show centered around education. That is my question. Thank you! :)

I wish I had found this video a while ago, before I spent gobs of money on steering components chasing suspension noise only to find out its just the steering shaft making the noise, Ive yet to replace it but is definately gonna be ordered this week and worked on my next weekend off. I also have to replace the EVAP valve as well.

I replaced that evap solenoid with new connector and the vent, it caused the mil light to come on even faster, with the old parts in it takes a few weeks for the mil light to come on. New gas cap too. Is there another purge solenoid up near the engine? It's an 07 gmc 1500 classic.

Take the oil pressure sensor out and replace that along with the small filter down in the hole behind it. If they run good, valves and lifters are clacking away sounding like they are gonna come through the head, then it doesn’t actually only have that oil pressure.
