Poisonous Snakes can make great pets. No, we aren't talking about venomous snakes, that is a whole different can of worms and hot snakes usually do not make good pets at all! Poisonous reptiles and poisonous amphibians on the other hand sometimes make excellent pets. For example, the Garter Snake is rear fanged venomous and in a very specific region, also poisonous. Common Garter Snakes can make amazing pets, they live in groups well, take advantage of swimming AND climbing options and overall are easy to care for. Poisonous amphibians like Poison Dart Frogs make great pets too. The color of these amazing frogs is stunning and in captivity dendrobates are harmless. Blue, Green or even Orange Dart Frogs all can make amazing pets. Toads often have a poison too and in some cases this can be harmful if not careful. But most species of toads kept in captivity are harmless to humans like the Spadefoot toad, American toad and many others. Bufotoxin and other toxins are in the secretion of these toads but if you are careful while handling your pet toad, you don't need to worry about the effects on you or your family. Newts are also in the amphibian family and the Eastern Newts are often kept as specialty pets. Exotic pets don't need to be exotic at all, Eastern Newts are native to many parts of The United States and Canada. No matter what Poisonous Pet you choose, be careful and responsible always. Poisonous Reptiles are often amazing companions.

@@WickensWickedReptiles to be honest I have always been a fan of collecting toads in the yard after it rains I always want to pick up the frogs I wouldn't keep them I would basically treat it like collecting fireflies I would see how many I could get before I went in for the night then I release them but you know at one point when I was living with my dad at this one house that I lived in for I don't know from about the time I was 11 to my early twenties or something there was a particular type of frog I would always catch in the backyard that I haven't seen hardly at all since then I would catch like a dozen of them after it rained most days but it's years in between seeing them now I heard they were to the point where they're losing some of their natural habitat they're regionally endangered I think like certain patches of them are getting rare and I always thought that was ridiculous cuz I saw them all over the place but I hardly ever see them anymore last time I saw one was on my porch or right next to my porch between the trash can and the recycling bin like I don't know four or five years ago I picked it up with one hand took a picture with my phone with the other and put it back cuz I was like I haven't seen one of these since I was a kid so I guess they are regionally endangered because it's just hard to find them anymore I mean I know I've heard of things being endangered in certain pockets of their natural habitat or going regionally extinct like certain varieties of cougar have gone extinct in this patcher that patch and they no longer have all their wild pockets interacting so there's less genetic diversity in whatever which will hurt their populations even more cuz they'll be inbred I used to watch a lot of animal planet or not animal planet per se cuz I didn't have cable when I was a kid but got that in my 20s but I was always watching nature shows on PBS and stuff like that I remember the day before I turn 30 I went to the local zoo with my dad and they had a type of horse there that was extinct in the wild and it's native range until it was bread in captivity enough that they were able to release a herd back into its native range which apparently is still doing okay I'm 40 now so hopefully they've released some more because one little population from captive horses won't really help them completely recover unless they put some more out for the genetic diversity cuz you know cheetahs have had such a rough time of it that they are pretty much all severely inbred

I have a pair of poison dart frogs, dendrobates tinctorius azures in a bioactive enclosure and they are absolutely amazing!! I’m a huge fan of just staring at them for hours and they are so friendly, when I come in they both hop up to the front of the tank and the male makes such a pretty chirp! They are absolutely addictive, I’m definitely thinking about adding more to my tank! I also love being able to cohab them with my mourning geckos

I'm in Oregon and I did not know that. Thanks for that info cause I haven't been here long and I want to go herping so bad. I saw a vice episode where they went into a jungle to find a certain toad to get high on it's toxins. I felt so bad for the toad when they strung it up to scrape it. It was crazy to watch them get high on it though.
