    Nice video. As another person mentioned, that detuning idea for percussion is something I’ve never thought of but will definitely try. Damage 2 is my go to percussion library also.

    Awesome to hear this detuning tip is helpful to people, I seriously do it all the time, especially when dialogue cues need a little percussive movement. thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! Long live Damage 2 🙏

    Great video, and thanks for teaching me how useful tuning in Kontakt can be. This is the second video I've seen where you mention it, and I've never thought to use it. I own Damage 2, which is what I use most, but I've also had HZ for a while without using it much. Time to load it up tonight!

Will 100% think about these as I write my next cue. Shout out to a library I've personally really loved for percussion recently, True Strike by ProjectSam.

    Very cool. I like the detuning trick to push the drums further back in the mix. I'd like to know how you approach adding pulse/momentum to a more ambient cue. I've received notes from directors asking me to do something similar, and I always have trouble with it. (Though now I know where to go for good low-velocity samples!)

  • @jonasfriedman

    @jonasfriedman

    Great question Drew - I'll make a short that demonstrates adding pulse / momentum to ambient cues and post it here...in the meantime a trick I often use is taking a cool ambient pad and adding a tremolator or gater to it. Then I'll blend in some soft plucky sounds (there's a patch in Omnisphere called sweet plucks which is very effective for this). If you're looking to create the pulse with something less tonal delaying a percussion element that has good mid frequency is usually quite effective.

    Great video! I've been using Zimmer Perc for years and it's been fantastic. (I always wanted that snare he used in his action cues though, it's on King of Pride Rock from Lion King. You can't find that anywhere lol) These days i use Audio Ollie's LA Modern Perc and JXL's Perc from Orchestral tools. Just ridiculous

    Good video, thanks for sharing.A great collection of perc libraries for sure! I only own one of the libraries you mention, and that is DAMAGE 2. A few of my go to libraries for percussion are, KINETIC PERCUSSION by Kirk Hunter Studios, PERC-X by Auddict and, CUE BUILDERS EPIC PERC and WORLD PERC by Red Room Audio. These are all great libraries in my opinion and are well worth checking out!! Another library i really like and use is ACTION STRIKES by Native Instruments. Go have a look, you might find something you like!

    Where is the best place to find stealth music type percussion?

  • @jonasfriedman

    @jonasfriedman

    2 ай бұрын

    I use a variety of libraries for this - I don’t know of a specific library that addresses it exclusively and I’ve honestly thought of making one. Infinite samples and audio Ollie have some GREAT sample packs that cover this One tip is it’s mostly about how you process the sounds that give that stealth vibe - cut the highs and lows and boosting the mids with add a nice delay usually makes a lot of standard percussion sounds stealthy 🙂
