So far, I've lose 520 pounds BEFORE VSG surgery & I'm now in the process to get it done. I have the cardio & EGD testing next month. I'm so excited!! How did I do it? Low carb, no sugar - basically the Keto/Carnivore diet & it works! I have Lipoedema & Lymphedema as well. I cut my meds down, I'm off oxygen, I was bedridden for 9 years & now, I walk & am now continent. IT CAN BE DONE & I did it on my own because the med field had given up & was treating me for end of life care. I'm 48. I have plenty of life left to live!

My goodness...you are amazing!! I agree...low carb is the key. I started that pre-surg and am still on that plan now, post op just over a year. I had a slight "relapse" and put some weight back on, but I've lost about 1/2 of the amount I gained..so am back on track. I'm so happy for you that you can now walk, and are now continent. What an achievement!! Clearly, you should have a youtube channel of your own!!!! Congratulations. Best wishes on your sleeve. It will really help!!

He was sleeved and lost 150 then had the revision to the DS. He is now 235. He is off all diabetic meds and all blood pressure meds and is healthier then ever! The mental aspect really did a number on him in the first few months. My sister had gastric bypass in 2007 and she lost a whole lot of weight BUT she didn't change her diet so over time she gained some of her weight back. it's not the amount of weight she had before the surgery but it is noticeable. so what Dr. Vuong is telling you is right. whether you get the sleeve or bypass YOU still have to put in the work to keep your weight down. the surgery is just a kickstart but you ultimately will have to keep at it to keep your weight down

I had surgery on a Monday and didn't get discharged until Friday due to not being able to keep water down, had a lung partially collapse on me during the surgery and I also had a reaction to the anesthesia so I didn't wake up for almost two days. So the myth that this surgery is easy and you will recover quickly is just that, it's a myth. Every surgery has possible complications inform yourself and be mindful of what you are getting into.

That's sorta good to hear for me. I'm 255 and BMI 37 I want to loose 50 to 60 pounds and I'm worried that I will loose too much weight. I look good and feel comfortable between 175-190. But 165 I look too thin and sickly.

I’m seeing a new surgeon about revision surgery. After getting the sleeve 5 years ago, I’ve seen weight regain. I had an endoscopy today and the new surgeon is recommending the Gastric Bypass for three reasons: 1. I have a hietal hernia 2. Higher rate of long term success. 3. Sleeve was quite distended He mentioned the previous surgeon had left the fundus, as well. Craaazy question: Was it supposed to be removed?

Hey! So...what happens to your guts microbiome? Is that removed with the Greater Curve specimen? Does it stay in the Antrum? (Or whatever that section by the pylorus was called) How much of an impact does the procedure have on your overall immune system starting at gut?

A++ The best video I have come across, I wish all Doctors would be honest and direct with the information. I've been researching these procedures to make an educated choice. Weight loss surgery is difficult and expensive to find in the highlands of Scotland therefore looking to Europe as for me it is possibly affordable however a lot more research still to do and after 20yrs of losing and gaining 5-7 stone per year yo-yoing I have got to make this an educated decision. Good luck to anyone out there on this path.

I have never fought so hard to get anything in my life like I have for this surgery. Seriously 1st I had to jump through hoops for the insurance then I had to fulfill the Dr's requirements for surgery then when I got that list almost done the Cardiologist give me her list of things I need to complete once I got all that done and finished the surgeons list (thousands of dollars later and a lot of time missed off of work) I go to meet the surgeon turn in all my paperwork and he told me "oh I forgot to give you the anesthesiologist list" which has 3 other procedures. I don't know if anyone else has gone through this but I just walked out the surgeons office, after a few unpleasant words were shared, I need to get this procedure but I can't do it this way.

30:29 I’m always blown away by post-ops who brag about how much they can eat like it’s some kind of an accomplishment. I guess it’s a psychological issue, but it defeats the whole purpose of surgery to just turn around and overeat.
