Good ideas, building my first trail support box for the new RTV. Got the things you mentioned along with a pack of sani-wipes, a few tools, some zip ties, included a small trail scissors jack, tylenol, ibuprohen and benadryl for bee stings. As an old pilot, I added a signal mirror, and a standard marine flare gun, helps to attract aircraft if needed.

@@pineylife , also being an old charter boat captain, I added a Richie compass to the RTV. Electronics will fail and the compass has saved my bacon more than once in the air and in the water.

I use my 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-3 for work, and so I have a bed with a big lightweight plastic toolbox, and room for a cooler. I carry my mud boots in the bed with a hd plastic bag over the tops with the large chip saver clamps on to keep them dry and spider free. I keep my spare clothes and jackets and rain gear in the tool box along with all my other gear. My inspection tools and equipment are in condor backpack, and my Surface Pro 7 tablet in another backpack with a padded sleeve and chargers and spare power banks. I have a dual battery setup, lots of power ports and usb charge ports, and an on-board 2500 watt inverter for those times I really need AC power. Also, I am going to get some 3/16" or 1/4" UHMW or HDPE from Amazon and cut to fit panels to add in roll bar corners etc that I can mount small items like my rechargeable flashlight etc. Some P-clamps with 1/4" bolts washers and lock nut and instant panel for anything you want, even more switch panels/boxes/12v acc ports or USB ports. I have a flashing amber light up top, and since I needed a safety whip/flag, I spent the money to get 2x 6' LED whips-you can't miss my buggy when it's got flashing amber light AND 2 flashing LED whips. My son said only I would go way overboard like that. Hey, I would rather not get run over by a huge dozer or excavator or side boom, thanks ;) My list: Fire extinguisher; first aid kit ( I built mine-bought 2 something like yours, and added a LOT to them); small ice chest; air compressor and tire plug kit; tow strap doubles as tree strap; shackles; winch pulley; spare water; granola bars; ponchos; space blankets; cheap regular cotton/fleece blanket (the one you can get for $15 at the highway quick store) in large zip lock bag; E-tool; hatchet; 6 GA jumper cables; fire starting kit; small tool kit (combo screwdriver, multi-plier, 2 small-med adjustable wrenches, 8/10/12/13mm wrenches, spare fuses, small wiring kit, razor knife with blades, parachute cord); E-strobe light; flashlight (rechargeable, mounted and always charged with spare battery, Streamlight Strion or Stinger-pricey, but OH SO WORTH IT!). At some point I probably will upgrade my rims and tires and run all the same size. Then I will carry a spare with folding 4 way lug wrench (leverage) and an off road farm jack, and maybe a pair of those plastic traction boards (roof rack for the jack and boards maybe?) And since the rear ROPS from a Honda P 1000-5 do NOT fit a Honda P 1000-3 (not without changing the complete bed out or at least removing the sides and tail gate), I will fab a set of rear bars so I can mount the full roof and put a spare tire carrier on a swingout on the rear, like a jeep. Maybe put the traction boards on the sides then? It helps that I was a certified pipe welder for @ 20 years lols. I am a huge fan of the Boy Scout motto: Be Prepared. And who knows, maybe I'll even take some time off and go trail riding one day... Sorry for the book, but maybe I helped someone with some ideas? Basically, I think you should have: a fire extinguisher, a real first aid kit (NOT just a band aid kit IMHO), water, food, emergency shelter/tarp/poncho, personal poncho, 550 cord and small knife, fire start kit or several butane lighters, blanket/space blanket, tire plug kit and air comp or a couple cans of fix-a-flat. Most of this will fit in small odd places or a cheap military style backpack. I recommend Condor, great gear and quality and less expensive that Blackhawk. Good luck and stay safe!

@@pineylife THANKS!! I have spent some time in the Army, some 75th and 82nd time, and even in the unit I was in in Germany, I traveled a LOT for the Army to many countries on duty. You learn what you really NEED, vs what you want. Staying dry, having water and emergency food (trail bars etc), 1st aid kit, having some basic tools, A GOOD KNIFE, 550 cord, Multi-plier (Gerber blunt nose!), having a poncho for me, and one for a shelter, a poncho liner (believe it or not, me and my poncho with liner have slept quite warmly under a thick coat of snow!!). For a vehicle you always want to keep tire plugs, fire ext, 1st aid kit, air comp/fix-a-flat, food and water, fire kit (I lived in WI so we took cardboard egg containers, poured paraffin wax in the bottoms 1/3 full and added charcoal pre-soaked in lighter fluid, then covered with more wax and closed, then covered with wax again. waterproof fire log, although maybe someone makes something similar commercially now?), jack, spare, tools, lights. You get the point. Be Prepared! I live in Atlanta now. 8 years ago, there was a winter storm (yes even down here lols). And let me tell you, I could smell it coming hours ahead, and I told my boss I was going to leave early. He wasn't happy, but then the construction safety supervisor ( a northern guy like me) told the site boss to let everyone go ASAP. Guys STILL got stuck on I-285 around Atlanta, or other places, for 12-36 hours. Many had less than a half of a tank of fuel/gas. No emergency water, food, blankets, etc. If you are from up north you never go less than half a tank in the winter. Bad things happen. And when you get stuck, you can NOT just run the car all the time. You will run out of fuel. And you need to keep the snow from packing in around your car, it will block the exhaust and keep it under your car, and asphyxiate you. Anyways, I've written another book, haven't I? sorry.

I haven’t added all the stuff I want to add to mine yet. I do plan to add them at some point. The next ones I want to add are the air compressor and tire plug kit. One thing that I do have for all of my vehicles though is a multi tool with pliers. They fold up taking up little room and are handy for various things. That is one think I would recommend to others to have.

Very good point. The multi tool is a great addition to the survival pack or kit all together. I usually carry a knife and during hunting season i always have multiple knives in the side x side but the multi tool is a great idea. Thanks for sharing and watching.

All good stuff. I think I carry everything you have. I do carry two first aid kits, One boo boo kit (Basic) and one trauma kit (Advanced) Turnacut and advanced stop the bleeding stuff. I also carry a dedicated "Fire Kit" (I live in Colorado) and somtimes we are at very high altitude and need to build a fire in not so good of weather. I do carry a emergency blanket (soft one), and also some large trash bags (Shelter etc). I carry a couple lights and a head lamp, along with charging units. I usually carry my HT (Ham radio UHF\VHF, with GMRS Frequencies). I think I am going to add a small shovel and Larger Hatchet. Would like to know thoughts on carrying extra Fuel though. Rotopax?

Thank you and thanks for sharing your accessories. The one thing that I love about the accessory videos is seeing what every one else is putting on there pioneers. That's what the videos and comments are for.... I am thinking about adding the shovel and hatchet to mine also. Great idea on the radio too.. I have looked at roto packing kits. I really like the roll bar mounts but there is one that stand out to me that serves two purposes. The JEI OFFROAD (SPARE TIRE RACK WITH OPTIONAL ROTOPACK MOUNT). very cool design

@@pineylife I think I have seen the JEI product, but will take another look. I am still not sure I want to add a full spare tire to the Pioneer, as like you I carry the pugs etc. I did add a roof top luggage rack though and am thinking about mounting two Roto Packs in it for fuel. It's almost overwhelming the amount of accessories for these things. I'm going to have to get my wife a second job just to support it!😁

A roof rack is great, provided that you have access and that your driving terrain and habits will allow for the extra weight up top. Its easy to put stuff up there however if you get too much weight up there, you will start getting top heavy, and on side slopes especially you will notice it. Also, if you put a spare tire up there, or fuel/water, they are heavy, and besides making your Center of Gravity higher, they can be hard to get down safely, depending upon many factors. A spare tire requires a jack, and a lug nut wrench also ;)

@@claytonwhitman2611 Agreed. I only use it for say tarps, sleeping bags or sometimes fishing stuff. Nothing too heavey would go up there. I am loving the Honda Pioneer 1K5P though.

what windshield do u have/recommend?

Mine is a genuine Honda accessory ( hard coated solid windshield). It is a fixed solid windshield so it does not tilt or fold out. I have not had any issues at all with it so far. The only downfall is not getting any wind or air thru it during the summer. I would recommend the solid windshield for recreational use.

If you don’t mind me asking is it expensive to make a side by side road legal

Kenimoto makes a kit that's not to expensive and its somewhere around $145. Mirrors are the next parts you would have to purchase. most side mirrors are around $40 and rear view is around $20. Once that's installed you basically take your mso (manufactures state of origin) or title to the dmv and fill out a medium speed vehicle form which basically is saying you have made it street legal (horn,signals,brake lights,rear view mirror, and side mirrors). That pretty much it. the mid speed tag is for driving on 45 mph roads and lower. let me know if this helps or if you need any more info. Thanks for watching

@@hunterdoles6253 oh ok, It was three years ago but I'm pretty sure once you go to the dmv all you have to do is fill out the medium speed application and then it was the same as paying the tag for a truck or car.

Spartan run flat tires bring a lot of peace of mind. They aren’t cheap, but they’re worth every penny. Also, an entrenching tool doesn’t take up much room and can really come in handy if beached in sand or snow.
