3 years ago as a newbie in my first 2 weeks found a beautiful 1983 ddr and was hooked. Thank you for helping me learn and retain the info, love the videos👍, keep em coming!
Nice to watch oldervideos on die cracks & breaks!
You're my absolute favorite coin collector/ expert. No one comes close to the way you describe everything. I appreciate learning about this new hobby from you. ❤
I am so glad that you enjoy talking about this stuff!
thanks dude your a kind soul...I'm 30 years young and just got into the hobby last winter ...I pour concrete all summer but when its freezing temps out I'm a cherry picker. I look forward to all the future knowledge from you
That 2nd one is my listing on eBay brsh!!! I knew it would happen. Was cool to see you found it. 👍👍
Ugh I had a bisecting quarter but I thought it was done in circulation. Great info, even though I could have used it last week. Thanks brotha
Thank you sir. I honestly don't like to read, even at 43 years old my adhd in ocd has me to hyper to find sitting in looking at a book interesting. I learn in ways like this . I have been trying to figure out the difference between cuds , cracks , chips so forth and so on in coins. You just helped me out alot. Much appreciated . I'm hoping here soon to start putting some stuff on eBay or either heritage auctions myself.. so I'm trying to learn everything i can to hopefully make sure I list the coins properly
Thank you sooo much..I know I have several die breaks..That I was thinking "bad scratch" ?ejection machine marks?.. Savable & Sellable.. Much appreciated the knowledge 😍
Thank you for helping us all getting into the hobby 😊
Huge thank you BlueRidge . This really shows the difference and correct pronunciation for each one . Now I know exactly what I have on the Lincoln cent 👍 Keep up with the great work BlueRidge And thank you for cool remarks about me 😀on your live stream
I'm a tool and die maker/repairman, I've been watching for awhile. Most of these damages are from operators. From what I've seen on the internet, operators have been putting dimes, nickels, quarters, ECT, ECT. I think the supervisors better keen eye on there workers. No disrespect to you or your followers. I really like how professional you are and sound!

Yah, the first thing I'm thinking when I see some of these "op-error" coins is "That's a write up!" Or, is it possible a Tour group came through and some grade-school kid did it...
Thank you for the video! Sharing with us about errors as you did I appreciate this, I'm not always sure about errors... 👍👍👍👍👍⭐
Just today I looked through my steel cents and found a "retained die break".! It's in a little rough shape but someone may still want it. Great info BlueRidge. thanks a lot.
Such a great video and so informative! Thanks for your help
Thanks for that visual that can be clearly seen as its being described
KEEP the knowledge about what I am looking at everyday coming !WE LOVED THIS VIDEO.AND ...YES GOSH BLESS ALL HUMANS CAUSE TO ERROR IS INEVITABLE. THANK YOU
Great video, very helpful understanding these errors. Thanks a million for sharing all your information, I enjoy looking through your videos, The best on KZread....
I found the mother load of dye breaks. The error definitely happened at the mint. It's 1979, the entire boarder is punched down on both sides with the reverse being the worst and I count 3 or 4 different dyes that look to be splattered in sections throughout the coin, it weights .1 less then another and did I mention after this happened at the facility they still sent it for polish and circulation. The copper of the coin that's missing from the break is extremely shinny and smooth.
Great video, picked up a few nuggets I didn't know. Thanks stud!
Shaun, you're a fountain of numismatic knowledge-- Thanks for getting this 50-something coin collector back up to snuff !! Miller in Pittsburgh
Thanks for the video Blue. Excellent information.
Awesome video BlueRidge 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for sharing good Sir 💥💥💥
Very good. Thanks Blue Ridge
This video was very helpful, thank you!!
Your videos help me so much. Thanks!
Thanks , I have now for sale on ebay a 1984 D Lincoln cent with the same die break . It may well have a double ear . Please take a look .
Wow man. I m new too the whole coin hunting. This was the most informative vid I have watched so far. I sent you a fb message last night and now after watching this I feel like I sent to the right person. I thought maybe by starting coin searching might help with slowing down onset of Dementia by watching vids and trying remember years and issues with them years and now I have really been bit by the bug. Thanks, Tracy Tucker By the way I am 52 and just getting started!!!!

Awesome! I started at around 46/47?
Great reference video!! Thank you!!
👍. Like those errors,Fun to find.
Great info gives me a chance to know what to look for
Thank you for the info. 😊
I found an 83P lincoln that has the WDDO-007 die crack on the reverse. However, it also has another crack running from the top left of the memorial. There is the WDDO-006, but mine runs snug against the N and not in between the I and T. Thoughts?
Great video BlueRidge. That was some great info. I'm sad to say that the majority of self described "coin experts" I run into on social media would have called nearly every coin you pictured, "post mint damage" especially if the coin pictured was not in their possession. Thanks for keeping it real and clearing up alot of misconceptions I regularly run into. See ya in the next one.

Thank you for great information
I have a rare one then . I have a 1983 D Lincoln cent from SE to NW going straight thru his mouth with an oblong cud almost perfectly fitting right where a chewing tobacoo cud would fot were he chewing one . One staight line across the obverse . The reverse is rather harder to describe because it has three main side to side cracks but with what apoear to be lightning strike off shoots . Its a very cirulated coin brown as they can get but not all scratched up like some . Its cool pocket change find
Great video, had so many these and I thought it was aftermarket damage. Sweet die break on a 83 morgan I'v had and always wondered about, right under date. Been saving every staple and nail mark cents I can find. Not often to find thoes but they still showin up on the reg....
thanks good videos I ve found a few die breaks
I just sold my first coin ever on eBay and it was a 1966 nickel with a large cud. It is a coin that’s on Cuds on Coins. It sold on bidding for about $20 ship.
Thank you for your help
Great information thanks
Very informative thanks
I’ve recently found quite a few on some dimes dated 1950,60’s dimes near the top from rim to rim through the words STATES OF. On the Philadelphia Denver San Francisco minted coins
Great video. Thanks

I have a 1974 quarter and behind Washington's head the whole side is a huge die break with several cracks through it....I thought at first someone spilled clear coat on it until I looked closely....there are cracks and some go through lettering or the ponytail.....it looks like it wants to chip off....
how did you know this was what I have been searching for just this type thanks again dude
I have another Washington quarter how can I tell if it’s cud mark or machine damage ?
The most common die break I find is the cracks off the corner of the Lincoln Memorial steps on the back side of pennies.
I've noticed a lot of 2019 fines with die cracks/cuds obv hair/head....will those be worth a little or maybe a lot?

I have a 1968 d I believe that has huge cud dye break
The first dime looks like a 2007 p im pretty sure I have that same coin. Not exact but pretty dang close . Any suggestions
Could some of these possibily be from someone trying to make it look like a die break caused by someone cutting the coin manually?
@BlueRidgeSilverHound Around the 14m35s mark you said how much the 2000's errors where worth. I found a 1979 d dime rmp with a die crack right above Roosevelt's skull and was wondering what is a fair price to list on eBay?
Well now I know that I have good$ on my table... Just got to get it out there! Working on it
How do I know if I have a die break or a huge scratch mark ? I have a 1992 Washington quarter the mark runs from his eye down on a angle to the right of 2 on bottom ?

A die break will appear as a raised area of metal instead of a gouge into the coin. Should be able to see the difference with a 10x or 16x glass.
I have a 2009 p with a die stress crack from the fingers of Lincolns fingers to the top of the coin through the E in the word states, can I send a pic to get your opinion
So many more errors these days to look for ............... In the late 60's early 70's there was the one 1955 to look for ........... Then came the 1972 DD .......... It does keep a fellow busy ~!~!
Can die breaks cause a smooth and flat surface on coins I have a P quarter and nickel
Do some of these die cracks turn green on pennies? I am new to coin hunting! Replies appreciated!
What's it called when there was some damage around the edge of the coin and then the damage has been flattened and isn't raised or look like it happened after minting.
Can my cud dye break be more jagged than round
I love die breaks😀😁😊🌺🌺🌺
The easiest error to find is morgan dollars die cracks at the top of letters on either side
I have a strange type of die issue that I don't know what type it is because I haven't really been able to find a replication of the issue. Would you be able to look at it so I can get your opinion?
I have a 2007 Lincoln penny on the reverse has a image of Lincoln's cabin with a date of 1809. Not the monument. Do I have something?
I've got a penny with a chip broken off of it, and the L in liberty is slightly rolled over the edge
1994 two protruding lines thu 9 and 4 not affecting the numbers. planchette crack? et
Those are nice dimes, mine blows them away... Thanks I know I have something!

I just found 1960 d reverse die crack across the whole coin
I really need some help identifying what errors a couple of my coins have if any can please help me
You mentioned all the coins that you talked about in this video are "raw graded" ??? Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought a raw coin was an ungraded coin? Just trying to clarify I appreciate your help and that sir you have been
Great video and very interesting! Q - you sometimes mention coins sold on ebay as “Raw Graded”. I am confused. I thought all coins not graded and slabbed were/are “Raw”. What am I missing?
@cheezmosarcazmo434
5 жыл бұрын
"Raw" generally means ungraded/uncertified by a major coin grading company (PCGS, NGC). "Graded/Certified/Slabbed" generally refers to coins that have been sent to a major grading company and have been certified already. You will hear the word "Slabbed" quite often, because when the certified coin returns to the owner....it's in a protective plastic case. Hope this helps! P.S. I believe he meant to say or write "Raw/Ungraded" as supposed to "Raw/Graded"!
I just found a die break in my coin rolls on a 2020 P Lincoln cent is this a first that you know of or are there many more like it. Also depending on the rarity what was something like this be worth

the crack starts at the top left of the reverse between the E and D on United and heads Southeast through the e&p on E pluribus then heads directly south through the shield. From there at explodes on the E between e and c and continues back south gradually curving back to the Southwest and finishing out the bottom. I cannot figure out how to put a picture on here so I figured I'd just describe it
Hi, as always enjoyed your video. Also could you touch on lamentation errors. Sometimes it's hard to tell if the damage is post or pre struck. I have a nice 1955 Lincoln cent with a chip under the five. So I can tell that that was pre-strike damage. But sometimes they're hard to tell. Thanks again for the great information. Keep up the great work. Also got my silver America the Beautiful quarters in today. They're beautiful. Happy Hunting
If you can only have a cudd on the edge. Then what do you call it in the center area’s. Because I have found several. Newest being 2019 america the beautiful parkway quarter.

They are called die chips. Where a piece of the die has broken free. All coins struck from that damaged die will show a raised area of metal in that damaged spot.
How to tell die break vs deep scratch?
Hey I think I have a 1966 shattered die penny the t is split there is a line threw Lincolns face and the 6 I'd distorted
How can I get a pic of what I have to you to see what it is? Thank you
I am on here because I recently found an exceptional Lincoln penny error. It looks like a die break, but it is much bigger. about 40% of the "tail" side is covered to the middle of the coin. About 60% of the outter rim on the tail side is filled in. I think it might be an interior die break, but the rim is also mated together at the thickest point, you can see the "splice". Also, on the "head" side you can see a double rim behind Lincoln's head. I haven't weighed it yet, but it has to weigh heavy! Comments please.... I'm new to this and more than anything curious. I have pics and would like to hear what others think. I have not found anything this large or quite like this, I have looked to see if there are others... but this seems to be a one of a kind as I can not find anything. I guess if this broke the die that would make sense... ? Help if you can....
But, how do you set the price to sell,
I got a penny from 1987 d with a die break and a die chip
Hello blueridge, i have a 1987 penny with the seven doubled worth good money or no ?
I found a 1983 P with a baby Cud under the date. Is it valuable ?

It is a quarter
I started penny roll hunting last September, and I am 15,000 pennies away from a quarter of a million pennies. I have found my share of doubled dies, but I have thousands of errored pennies that I haven't been able to completely identify. I am wondering what type of smartphone adapter you use to look and take pictures of coins. I have a USB microscope, but I know nothing about how to use it. Let's say I am not up to date on using new electronic products; much less photography. I am wanting to begin hunting nickles, dimes, and quarters, but I would like to be able to take pictures and identify some of my pennies to try and list them on eBay. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
