It is though? I paid for genie plus for every day of our 5 day trip and I feel completely content with my purchase. It's really straightforward to use and we barely ever waited more than 20 minutes for anything because we just did lightning lanes and then did low wait time non genie rides inbetween. We got literally everything we wanted to do done, most 2 or 3 plus times. I feel like this sentiment comes from either locals who are just mad wait times are longer now, or people who don't actually actively visit disney and take all their opinions from youtubers.

There is pretty much an entire city under Disney World (the Utilidors) because Walt saw a FrontierLand cast member in TomorrowLand (or vice versa) and decided that should never happen. So when Disney World was built it was pretty much built on the second “floor”. There is a small Utilidor system in Disneyland under TomorrowLand but not nearly as extensive as DisneyWorld.

I knew one of the Imagineers that built the Matterhorn and he told me that there wasn't enough room up there to play basketball. I had seen a photo of the backboard/rim but the picture didn't really give any real size reference as to the area. He told me of being one of the first to ride the ride, as it was nearing completion, but there were no breaks on the ride yet. He had been recruited/selected by Joe Fowler, probably due to a Navy connection. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, although he had lied to the Navy about his age prior to this and he was only 16 or 17 at the time. After Disney, he was an aerospace engineer for Aerojet. Sadly, he passed about 4 years ago.

So funny I’ve gone many times since I was a kid back in early 70’s (dating myself). We lived in the Sacramento area and I had never heard any of those stories. Just heard a couple from you in previous videos (and you dispelling the myths). Thanks for all you do, this was a fun one!

I had only heard the ones about the Matterhorn and the Tinkerbell one. I did not believe them though. I have heard that there are frequently cremated remains left in the Haunted Mansion though.

I have never heard any of these things about Disneyland. Even if I did, I probably would have forgotten when you call it a lie about Disneyland. I BELIEVE IN ALL THE MAGIC!! I was raised in Alaska. Didn't go to Disneyland until I was 20 in 1986. ALWAYS WILL BY ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE MEMORIES.....EVER!!!!

What do you want to call the boundaries? Is the berm the border(I think this cuts out GE)? Or do you have another border in mind? I’m curious as I want to do this and map it out. I was thinking this before I saw your post.

@@artyero I think the easiest would be the berm border for “opening day” Disneyland and all guest accessible areas inside the gate for the park today. Using the backstage areas would be interesting, but where do you draw the lines? Perhaps a center of the resort location taking all used Disney property, but that is a stretch from what the survey marker was supposedly representing.

@@AtticHaunt321I think I will try what you suggested, plus guest areas that include galaxies edge and Toon town. That does impact where the center would be. This is going to be fun.

Of the 5 lies presented, I’d only heard about the Basketball court, canoes, and center of Disneyland. The basketball court I didn’t know much about other than the photo of it. The Canoes, I always thought they were on tracks but never thought they were motorized. And the last, the center of Disneyland. I thought that was what the golden spike was for, but never knew for sure. Great video, Chris. Keep it up!

Here's an urban legend I heard, that I tend to believe. My good buddy told me this. His wife used to work in the candy shop in Cinderella's castle back in the early 90's. One day she heard a kid screaming "they're killing them!" from the drawbridge. She went out, and saw in the lake that a swan was attacking a group of baby ducklings, gruesomely killing them (even decapitating them). She made a quick call, and within a minute a couple plain clothed security officers jumped in the lake and removed the dead ducklings, thus cleansing the scene. My buddy swears by it.

Those poor ducklings.😢 I also feel bad for the kid for witnessing such a gruesome scene. But nature is nature. While nature can be beautiful, it can also be cruel and merciless. BTW, I hope it didn't ruin his day at Disneyland.

    1. basketball court - I'd seen photos, but never heard the false story 2. Disney crest - I'd always thought that was true, except it's the d'Isgny crest, and Walt had to pay to use it. (The fleur de lis makes more sense since d'Isgny is a French name.) 3. Tinker Bell/Marylin - Heard it many times, never believed it 4. Canoes - Weird, never heard that. Maybe it's because of the island rafts? 5. Center of Disneyland - Heard it, always did what you did and smiled it off. You have a great spirit and your intimate knowledge of the Parks is great. Thank you.

Hey Chris, I believed the Matterhorn one up until I saw the Imagineers story on Disney+ where they filmed Bob Gurr go up in there. Apparently they also allow CMs to sign their names on the inside wall of the Matterhorn in that break/staging area. Bob Gurr hadn't signed his name even though he designed the entire thing; he claimed it was meant for those CMs that had worked/performed on the mountain so since he hadn't done that he hadn't earned the right to sign his name. The producer told him he should sign it and so he did. Talk about big moments, my eyes began to leak a bit, just the thought that this man, who was so instrumental is so many of the iconic Disneyland attractions, who is a legend in his own right, was so humble to say that he hadn't earned it. My emotions had enough and it was just too much to handle. That first generation Imagineers were, IMHO, the best!! Thanks Chris for these videos and helping keep my Disneyland love alive since I live out of state I don't get to go as often as I would like but between you and David (FreshBaked) I am more than kept up-to-date on things happening in the Parks and learn a bit more Disneyland history!
