Two more space-oriented games that I'd suggest are Reassembly and Cosmoteer. Both are top-down sandboxes with ship building, although they're a bit different in scope.

@@626games I played it since ~0.80, (early access), it was the worst early access experience I had. 🤷‍♂️ Currently the game probably in its best shape (I don't touched it for 2 years). Also KeenSWH forgot to list me as mod-merged-into-the-game contributors :(

Minecraft Create is a mod that ads gears and mechanics, and oh my god is it fun. Actually playing with gear ratios is something that I always wanted to do, and it's super satisfying

Lucky us living in Times where one can choose from a massive offer of building games. Depends WHAT you want to build. I recommend Trailmakers (especially the campaigns but also sandbox is fun). More vehicle-focused than basebuilding tho. Then there is the enjeneer (hope i got the Name right) which is super fun due to its derpiness. I recommend both.
