    Not gonna lie, you should've just skipped out on the storage in the back. It is unrelated to your video. Nobody wants to hear you say to get rid of that styrofoam compartment man. It's useless to you but to the men who don't carry around a bunch of toys, those compartments make GREAT fishing storage, pistol storage, that spare tire port makes a great place for an ice box or anything but video games that don't even function with the vehicle. I just really did not get that part of the video. I must say man, that triggered the heck outta me. I don't hate you for it, I just wish I didn't see that because it made me lose respect for your opinion on anything really. You gained a little more respect back when you said you took part in a fix for the rattling on lift kits at that sweet spot. I will say though, those mods were definitely garbage. Those 111 dislikes were because you stored toys in the back dude. Nobody wants to see that junk in a Subaru. They wanna see camping, fishing and hunting gear or at the least, racing stuff or speaker mods. Stuff that relates to the car.

    Good idea for a challenge Frenemy!!! Geez! Now that I think of it, I've done all sorts of free mods to the Passport. 1.) Cut the metal wheel well to fit larger tires 2.) removed the donut to use it as storage space 3.) made head boards to create a sleeping platform 4.) bolted cargo carrier directly to my cross bars 5.) special storage area behind the rear seats. Maybe Donald can do a triple threat challenge to Myself, MitreA (ignition offroad), and Alnsm overland. I have no idea who I could challenge next though, haha! If I receive the challenge, I guess I'll just have to send it to Ronny Dahl or Trail Recon!! LOL

    Mod 1.5- use end link of tie down directly which is designed to take load unlike cheap garbage “non-load bearing” carabiner. Mod 2.5 Put spare tire, jack and tire iron in compartment. Replace foam support so floor doesn’t cave in when you put items in cargo area.

  • @bruceyyyyy

    @bruceyyyyy

    3 жыл бұрын

    I've tried with just connecting the ratchet strap directly but the size of the hook is too big to fit in the latch. Also the floor hasn't caved in and I use this thing as a work truck often.

  • @AsinineComment

    @AsinineComment

    2 жыл бұрын

    1.5 - You and your logical, rational mind aren't welcome round these parts. 2.5 - Ditto - but it would only be an insanely heavy and narrow object to possibly threaten the load area floor panel. Also, what place other than the spare wheel well, is there? Throw the spare up on the roof? Nope - putting approx 30kg up high is a bad choice, for about 5 different obvious reasons. Where else - strapped to bonnet, like a Landrover on safari?

    A counterpoint to Bruce's assertion that the tray in the back is useless: When I remove mine, I hear a LOT more on-pavement road noise. The first time I did it I thought I'd accidentally left one of the rear doors cracked open. It may bother some less than others, of course.

  • @bruceyyyyy

    @bruceyyyyy

    I would imagine most people who remove the foam, replace it with other stuff, thereby deadening the sound. Unlike the video, I can see the majority of people will stuff the space with soft stuff for camping.

  • @Kaiser0929

    @Kaiser0929

    4 жыл бұрын

    Possibly, yeah. I've got the former spare wheel space filled with a mix of hard and soft stuff, all wrapped in a wool blanket to minimize movement and rattle. But I think Bruce was right; It's likely a combination of all three things (foam, deck, and rubber mat) that deaden the noise. I had them all out when I experienced it, but assumed the foam was doing the bulk of the work.

  • @bruceyyyyy

    @@Fingerprintguy I wanted something funny to use as a measurement instead of just saying "You get X cubic inches more space" I don't really drive around with SNES versions of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3 in the back. I have to mod my 2015 3.6r with a new alternator. It seems at 41,000 miles mine has died. Thanks to having a radar detector that displays voltage I noticed the situation before I got stranded somewhere. Kinda weird how it started off at 14.1 volts and when the rpms came up above idle it would drop to 11.8 volts. I’m guessing the voltage regulator has failed.

  • @bruceyyyyy

    @bruceyyyyy

    4 жыл бұрын

    I think it's possible that the voltage drop is Subaru attempting to eek out some MPG by lowering alternator draw. I think there is a programming update available to remove that 'feature' as well. My alternator is factory at 60k miles now. So is everything on the car minus the front end links.

    Tip #1 is not such a good idea. Not for station wagon in general. Because you will have your exhaust gasses inside the passengers room. Okay if you are driving outside the city it will be fine but if in dense traffic and traffic light all that stuff, you better don't do this with rear cover open. I am sorry man!

    Yeah, great idea. Ditch your spare, and jack so you can haul video games under your floor... for why? This is only practical if you have your spare and jack mounted elsewhere.
