Not essential to everyone else, but my favorite poster (and the one that was on my wall for decades) was the 1994 KISStory I comic poster. This video literally made me rush to Ebay to repurchase it for our unborn's nursery. We were leaving for our trip to see KISS' End of the Road show in Corpus Christi when we found out we were pregnant!

Great episode! Yes the KISS Solo Album posters are definitely essential especially at the bands peak! It has my vote! Also the 4 Kiss Alive Posters whether they are live or not! By the way, the 4 signed are just killer! I would say the Kiss Alive 1 Jumbo and Kiss Alive 2 Jumbo is definitely Iconic and essential. And last but not least The KISS Empire State Building Skyline! Keep up the great work. When will there be a Vinnie Vincent and Mark St. John Special?

Hei GUYS! I think some kind of "Lick It Up" era poster, including the album cover shot, should be pretty essential because that was probably the first picture of KISS without make-up that many of us saw. What an interesting episode this was especially when you "argued" about whether the solo album order form posters should be essential or not. Kissin' time, all the time - NOT !!! 🤘😎 Jarkko / MyVinylBar

Fantastic episode, this is my new fave podcast on KISS and collecting KISS!!! I have been in the KISS Army since 1976 (6 years old) when I received a copy of Destroyer from my cousin and have now been collecting for 25+ years. I agree with most of the posters suggested (definitely a soft spot for the solo posters) and agree that record insert posters shouldn't be included in the list. My top 5: 5. Alive Outtake Eyes Closed (because it's just odd and unique) 4. Gene Simmons Face on Boots/Demon Head 3. 76' Bicentennial Poster 2. Alive II Stage Shot & Set of 4 1. 74' First Album promo

I have all three Jumbo posters and had them framed. I had a retired guy, who works with wood, make frames for these Jumbo posters. My total cost for all three with just over $200, including Plexiglas. Best way is to find a retired person who has the time to make frames....way cheaper than online.

Great episode! Made me miss a lot of posters I had in my collection at one time, and have lost over the years. When I think "essential poster", I imagine a collector just starting out, like "you need these in your collection". That being said, I would say, DYNASTY (Album insert) / UNMASKED (Album insert) / Solo Jigsaw (Album Insert) / Hottest Band In The Land / (and lastly...anything from a Merch Form - just for kicks). Great talk. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Fan from the late 70's from Joe and myself. I love the spirit and cubes posters. I just think there are more essential posters than those. ALL of the posters from the 70's are iconic. When you try to reduce them to only 5, it's gets very difficult. It has nothing to do with when we became fans. And I'm sorry man - those solo album puzzle piece posters are iconic. Also, just because a poster was everywhere doesn't mean it makes the top 5 essential. In our opinion, the most essential poster is the first album promo - and that is a promotional poster that could not be purchased in stores. Hardly anyone had one back then or now.

Jumbo Alive poster along Alive 2 individual posters of Gene , Paul , Peter and Ace . I wanted to order those when I bought Alive 2 but we couldn’t afford them. I was lucky to buy Alive 2 with my small allowance I got from mom. Now at 56 I can afford my collection! 🤟

See Andrew keeps calling the album posters incentives to buy the records but none of us knew the posters were in there till we bought the record or saw our buddies record. I think the large Alive 2 stage shot with flames is iconic. It was the first non magazine poster I bought. I also think the Creatures era poster with them holding instruments is essential and coming in honorable mention the Kiss comic 2 poster is nice. All you guys had great picks!

I really enjoy your discussion, and many disagreements (respectful or not?). But, I've gotta agree with Andrew's #1, the Empire State Building. And YES, Joe, the Bicentennial poster and the Love Gun "blocks" poster and yeah, the motorcycles. Lots of fun! Keep chatting and keep disagreeing. Oh, and Jason, luv ya buddy, but NO to the solo promo posters. (Ack!) One more thing.....I agree with the Dynasty insert poster and the solo album insert posters (as one on the list). The Dynasty poster was on MY wall for years. And (just cuz I'm still bitter), my Paul solo album was missing the solo poster (sniffle). And, no to the '96 reunion poster. p.p.s.) Yes, I love that "top 5" math, too.

Gr8 discussion guys. In Australia(Melbourne) for the OTT 1980 tour we had 3D solo album portraits(not technically posters as they were NOT flat). I had ace & Eric(Yes Eric was given a BROWN halo for his solo album "look"). I think I was given them/stole them from my neighbour. No idea where they were from originally. About the 1976 Jumbo One Stop Poster (ALIVE "Collage") - This was not a promotional poster; it was available retail - Rolled up in a plastic sheet. I was 11 at that time, a couple of friends of mine had that poster. Note that the posters, etc. I had (have somewhere) were all from the 1970s - This is not necessarily an "Essential" list, but they are all early era posters. I had the Alive II 1977 poster (Stage, drum kit/platform fully raised, Gene, Ace and Paul on platforms, firepot explosions, etc.) which was one of my favorite poster (the "5th" poster of the "6 posters"). That again, was a retail poster. (The Ace photo, which I did not have, from that set was iconic!) I personally liked the Destroyer poster (as the album was my favorite). I had (still have) the inserted "books" from the Alive Album, as well as the "Book" from the Alive II album ("The Evolution of KISS") . I had the Alive one on my wall but "reassembled" it and put it back with the Album. I had a tendency of keeping these in good shape. I lost interest with them when Dynasty was released - Didn't necessarily like the Album (although I will say there were a couple of decent tracks). I find myself occasionally listen to those old records (the digital formats) from time to time, and enjoy seeing this stuff. So nostalgic. They were certainly a fun band.

The Bicentennial poster should be paired with the New York skyline poster for fourth. Both are of the same era and tour period. It is aesthetically important and relevant because of the red-white lined border around the poster gave us an idea of what the design of the Kiss cards were going to be with those multi-colored lined borders. Also the bicentennial represented an important mark or time for the United States; I relate it to Gene's background as an Israeli immigrant making it in America. Kiss is an American success story and the bicentennial poster reminded me of the priviledge of being an American citizen and that success can be attained in this country if you are determined and able, while also being proud Kiss fan.

I don't consi8der Dynasty or Unmasked Insert posters as essentials because me personally, They are Inside the album & I wouldn't have the album without it, Kind of like...……...its a Givin, Those 2 posters stay inside my album(s) because they belong there. So for me personally, Since all KISS thru symphony are all still sealed. It was an Awesome poster though, Stared at it many hours each day.

It might be an age thing but I think the KISS 1976 bicentennial poster has to be in there somewhere. America's 200 B-day makes this poster so much a part of Americana and KISSTORY. American flags and red white blue items were everywhere in 1976. This KISS poster was everywhere in 1976 and it was so cool looking! P.S. The solo album posters were awful and corny looking. BUT I DON'T HATE YOUR LIST. GREAT SHOW!

Fan from the late 70's from Joe and myself. I love the spirit poster. I just think there are more essential posters than that one. ALL of the posters from the 70's are iconic. When you try to reduce them to only 5, it's gets very difficult. It has nothing to do with when we became fans.
