"Always a doodle" Hilarious, but so true.

Dodger needs to be given the Key to the City, and the drivers need to be fired. I just lost my service dog of 13 years a week ago. I literally would not be here without him. These dogs aren't pets. They save our lives.

I think it's valid if you have a genuine allergy - some can be severe and drivers have a right not to have to deal with that. But yes, otherwise drivers should be doing better

Just so everyone knows: per the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), having allergies is NOT a valid reason for refusing service dogs!! (and also as a side note, ESAs and therapy dogs don't have public access rights so don't take them places they're not allowed!!)

which is actually insane. Having life threatening allergies is also considered a disability. Typically ada does not allow disability "hierarchy" but service dogs get special treatment in that they cannot be refused even if other disabilities were present first.

@@Pineapplesf Except it is astoundingly rare for someone to die of a dog hair allergy. Service dogs are considered to be necessary medical equipment that allow people with certain disabilities to perform daily life activities. A person with a deadly peanut allergy doesn't get to deny everybody from eating peanuts every place they go. They don't get to walk into a restaurant and make them throw out everything that might contain peanuts. They avoid that restaurant. Same with someone who is allergic to dog hair.

@@sllizarrd Rare but it happens. In fact I am anaphylactic to dogs. Severe asthma to pet dander is not uncommon and is capable of being deadly. Even a mild reaction can impair someone's ability to function normally so insisting that someone engaging in one of the most dangerous activities (driving) willfully impairing their ability to do -- risking not only their own health but that of everyone else around them is absurd. People with severe allergies and asthma are constantly excluded from everyday activities that extend beyond not being able to go to every restaurant. They are excluded from public and private transportation options, most workplaces, most schools and universities, and public institutions like libraries. Renting is nightmare and buying anything used is out of the question. Any attempt at making public places accessible for even the most common allergens causes backlash. Surely people with severe allergies or asthma have as much right to participate as anyone else.

Never should've happened. People have allergies, phobias, etc. it should be explicit that there's an animal & a pick up should be arranged asap to avoid issues. I have a friend with a disability who has encountered all sorts of issues so they set these things up as far in advance as possible. Sometimes it's not possible. Ok, off the top of my head, how about the driver has to get a replacement before leaving? Perfect solution? Far from, but I'd imagine there's Someone who could figure Something out!
