Or loaded a new track on the wrong deck :D
Sometimes using the channel faders to mix a track out and sometimes using the crossfader can lead to confusing situations where you end up cuing up the next track while the crowd listens to all of it. I've done this at least more than 5 times in my very long career. Sometimes the crowd ignores it (if you're very good at beatmixing, they might think it's intentional). So my advice is, before cuing up the next track, always make sure the channel isn't going into the speakers.

Good advice guys👍
Glad to see Ravine is still around.
Setting headphones down on the cue button made for an awkward situation last year. I used to play a track list for my opening hour just to get comfortable but have since stopped and it has helped to control the energy better.
Itchy Hawtin, haha! Love it. Never heard that one before!
I love flanger and filter!
Ultimately the end game is getting people on the dance floor,I say use whatever works.

True that
First 2 are no-brainers. 3 depends on the style of music you play. 4 depends on the gig; some promoters expect a set playlist. And 5 doesn’t matter. Be yourself. Most important rule: if your going to use a microphone only use it during your first and last songs!
0:33 It depends on equipment/wiring. I'd say to only red line if you know your equipment. I've played club venues where I was specifically told to red line or the audience won't hear enough bass (which they were correct). And the (really expensive) equipment easily took it.
Ravine seems like such a cool dude to be around..

Eyyy, I'll thumbs up that.
Started from the bottom now we’re here. DJ Ravine is the GOAT
one of my first gigs around 5 years ago: thought I was gonna be playing on a pioneer 850 mixer.. yer right lol ... turned out to be a xone 92 and I hit the LPF and had no clue how to turn it off :P pretty embarrassing 2 minutes Must admit I did every mistake you guys mentioned, cool video
Guys, thank you for this, redlining is a real issue I see too often xD
Great points, guys!! So true. Funny moments too because I can relate :D
Hey Ravine, where you and where is Hawtin... schoolboy
Where can I download music from? Where can I do a professional dj course ? Which are the top laptops for Djs? Which are the budget laptops for Djs?

If you don't know the equipment, just rent it for a day. Another frequent mistake is not using the structure of the tracks and just mix random.

Can you do a Deconstruction for the song „Terrority - The Blaze“?
What about tape delay or peak filter, warmhole?
what's the gear you have in front of you?
on the set folder issues i make what i call mood folders that change the moods of a crowd ...hype ...mediocre or slow grind
😀❤️❤️❤️yea nice, interesting 👀💗
I was in Hyannis, Massachusetts in like 1992, walking around bar hopping with my friend. The 1st place we hit up was playing dance music but there was no crowd. So we said, lets come back later. I cannot tell you where the next 3 hours were spent but we somehow we made it back there. I listened for about 4 songs and noticed the DJ was replaying the same set I heard earlier. It was a buzz kill. The guy just figured he would play big songs. I actually experienced this one night at another venue as well. Please don't repeat sets. Mix it up literally. Have fun and kick ass.
Mixing in keys ?
I would say master tempo ( key lock ) you can tell which DJ has vinyl experience and who don't , lots of vinyl DJ's will not have it on with a cdj nexus and they will pitch tunes up to give them more natural groove to mix like a Technics turntable and mix via pitch and using their ears example DJ EZ or Andy C , Mike Ruffcut Lloyd etc Of course MT keeps the same key, it's good for harmonic mixing performance but it's matter of opinion there depends what kind of DJ you are club DJ mixing or performance drop DJ
FLANGER is awesome..it has to be used to 'charge' pre-chorus..fantastic energy unleashed when you turn it off just chorus starting! :)
It felt like Ravine had to re-iterate every point Ben made, which made me feel like he wasn't as respected as he should have been as guest.

I feel like I re-iterated every point Ben made, which made me feel like he wasn't respected as he should been as a guest. But no really, Ben's been at Point Blank years longer than I have and in other videos. If anything he requires ribbing.
Flanger for eveeeeeer ! XD
"It's a classic amature mistake to just want to put effects over everything"..... Unless you're Gammer.
Another important tip is to know how to use a cdj before playing at a club. I had to learn the hard way

Biggest mistakes DJs make, are celebs thinking people will want hear them due to their name value, e.g. Paris Hilton
Wow I want to join your school .. but I am from India and I can't....I have no money to afford..the controllers
Worst experience for me was; breaking a needle & forgetting a spare! 🤦🏻♂️
Feel the vibe lol every club I've been to, people are high or drunk. They don't care that much.
I really want to start DJing could anybody tell me what are the things required to start or point me to a resource that shows what I need? I would google but I much rather go to a direct source, someone who actually knows what to get

Just be nice in general. The thing I see a lot of greenhorns do is “tweaking” the mixer for no reason. And begging for playlists from dj’s who do put some effort in finding hidden gems.
Ravine makes the same mistake over & over again... namely playing happy hardcore!
Don't use fx because tracks are too many fxs
My girl loves the flanger
Really...the red lining? Did you read the manual, how much headroom there is per channel? I never redline but if you do, nobody cares
